It is 6.07 on the Liz Cowway Show with Nick Summers. Welcome to your August 19th. All right. It is Wednesday morning. I'm trying to figure out how do I dim the light on my display screen here? Oh, there is a way. I know. I know it's something simple, but I I can't see, I can't see where the button is for the brightness. I don't know why. It's just so bright. What happened? What happened? There are a lot of people, they're wearing these blue blocking um glasses, but this actually has a blue light blocker.
SPEAKER_07My daughter wears those.
SPEAKER_04Well, I mean, my son got them too, because he's always looking at screen, but so are we. We're always looking at the screens and and um At this point I figure it's too late for me. Well, you know, I don't want to cause further damage because like I I'm having a hard time seeing in the dark. I mean, I know most people can't see in the dark, but you know what I'm saying? I do. It's like I really can't see in the dark, and I feel like it's because I'm, you know, two feet from a screen constantly. But I can't figure out how to dim the light.
SPEAKER_07Well, we have done damage to our eyes while the uh blue screens. Definitely.
SPEAKER_04Blue screens for sure. Mood also.

SPEAKER_04Hey, I don't know if this is true.
SPEAKER_07Tell me.
SPEAKER_04Uh speaking of bourbon, you know, I was thinking about again, Hayden Paneteer. Um, and I was like, well, how did she get a back injury?
SPEAKER_07Well, you had a sugg thought, maybe, speculated, was it something that she's very active dancing and all that? Yeah, so maybe it's something along those lines.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. I read, and I don't know if this is true, but back in 2005 when she was like 14 years old, and I remember this movie. I didn't know that it was her in it. But she was in a movie where a zebra was trying to get into the Kentucky Derby, and she was the rider who never rode horses before, but they gave her a real crash course lesson, no pun intended, on riding a zebra, and she had no chops at all. Well, the zebra bucked her off, and she was riding along racing horses, like really super fast, and she got a concussion, a severe whiplash, and two vertebrae were pushed into her neck, and she has suffered from severe back pain, chronic, chronic back pain. Sometimes she can't even walk. Wow. Since she's fourteen. And when those pains come up, and we talked about this yesterday, she had opioids. Think about when she was fourteen. That was like twenty-three years ago.
SPEAKER_07Very prevalent and easily prescribed.
SPEAKER_04I really feel bad. I feel so bad for this woman and her life, and I just I it's you can see why the path was what the path was. That's really sad. And it's all because of the people around her. What made who thought it was a good idea to not she did all her own stunts in that movie? Who thought it was a good idea to make a 14-year-old girl do all her own stunts? You know, Tom Cruise is an adult. He can make those decisions.
SPEAKER_07And even he's backed off.
SPEAKER_04I mean, that's horrible. Who gets on the back of a zebra in a racing movie at 14?
SPEAKER_06Apparently she did.
SPEAKER_04I'm so angry about it. You know, like it makes me think about No, you're right.
SPEAKER_07Where are the adults in the room saying, no, listen, this isn't a good idea. You're inexperienced, you could get injured. We'll get somebody, you know, we'll get stunt people.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there are jockeys that look like they're 14, for God's sakes.
SPEAKER_07Exactly.
SPEAKER_04Jockeys.
SPEAKER_07Throw a blonde wig on it and let it roll.
SPEAKER_04They are literally in the Kentucky Derby that would love to be a a a stunt double. I mean, even Julia Roberts didn't actually get she had a body double for her pretty woman. Those weren't weren't her bitty body parts.
SPEAKER_07They weren't? No. I don't think I ever knew that. Wow.
SPEAKER_04All the close-ups? No. She's very private and Christian.
SPEAKER_07That's fine. Great. I I'm not I'm not criticizing it. I'm just saying that's a good one. She had a body double for pretty woman. I do.
SPEAKER_04All those body parts are not hers.
SPEAKER_07Okay. But you're right, back to her, Hayden. Where was the adult in the room saying, listen, this is not a good decision?
SPEAKER_04You know, I feel bad.
SPEAKER_07So they failed her.
SPEAKER_04Like Judy Garland, same thing. Yes. Marilyn Monroe, the same thing. Anna Nicole Smith, the same thing. You know, it's how many of these women must they cannibalize? I really it just infuriates me. And parents are like, yeah, yeah, go, go, go. Do do do.
SPEAKER_07It's been said a thousand times. Hollywood just chews them up and spits them out. Yeah. It's great for the moment, good for the buck. Move on, because there'll be somebody in about three weeks that'll replace you.
SPEAKER_04And then she was in a an abusive relationship, and that was something she has documented with her on again, off again boyfriend who was on again, who was there when she turned up dead.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that that came out.
SPEAKER_04And her and his brother. And the mother's like, hey, I haven't spoken to her since like October when we barely texted. And uh, you know, she's just on a d path of destruction. So uh it sounds like nobody in her close circle is surprised, it seems. And with her writing this book, she was like on a revenge tour, and she probably whipped her fr herself into a deep, darker hole. Instead of it being cathartic, where she can now be on the other side and looking back, she wasn't ready to write this book. The book was still writing her. Who told her that was a good idea? She wasn't able to handle documenting and thinking about every single thing. Like, have you ever sat there and said, Oh, you know what? I think back at when this happened, and you know, things you just didn't deal with, why do you have to deal with every single little thing? I don't get that. Why can't you just stand on top of it and just keep going? Like the rest of us do.
SPEAKER_07Someone just popped in here on the budget blinds text line. D said she was about to name names. Do we know this? Is this documented somewhere? I don't know. I wouldn't doubt it. Yeah, we talked about it before, Dirtman Dave, that back pain. It is it's it's a life wrecker. Wow. And it will people in constant chronic back pain quite often turn to you know something to nominate.
SPEAKER_04That's usually how it starts, right? They say, Well, I had this back injury, or I had this car wreck, or I had this back surgery. I know. And that's why those doctors got arrested, and that's why the opioid company got sued. Right?
SPEAKER_07Yes, that's right.
SPEAKER_04That's why State Representative Russell Fry was w writing opioid things, bills, and did it in Congress too. Because it was that bad. Now we're where are we at with that? Are people still hooked on opioids? That that's not the drug of the day, I guess. I don't know. One time I had surgery on my hand, okay? I had this little tiny, they call it a bible cyst. Why? Because you could usually just smash it with a Bible and it goes away. But this one was was on my tendon in my hand. And I went in for surgery, and they were like, You need to ride home. I said, I do? Yeah, we're putting you out. I'm like, why? It's just a little thing on my hand. No, this is your hand. You gotta be out. No. So they put me out. I had to get my dad. It was my 30th birthday. My dad is in the waiting room. I'm like, I thought I'm just getting this little cyst out. I didn't know it was this big thing. And I think it was my 29th birthday, actually. Well, the next day I was in so much pain from the surgery. I never had I never had surgery before in my life. And I was like, what? I can't, it was horrible. They're like, take the Vicodin. We gave you the Vicodin. Take the Vicodin. I said, the motron's not working.
SPEAKER_07What did the Vicanin do to you? I have to add this.
SPEAKER_04Oh man, I was drooling on myself. I my arm was hanging off the couch. I had a two-year-old running around. I had, I was drooling on myself in a semi-coma, still in dire pain, but couldn't move. I was like, what is this solving? I'm not even taking that again.
SPEAKER_07They prescribed Viking for me after my.
SPEAKER_04I had five of them. Five of them they gave me. That was it.
SPEAKER_07I went through two bottles in the allotted time I was supposed to. I didn't, you know, abuse it, take more than I should, only for pain. And I'm telling you that it just made me feel so bizarre and so weird. I had nightmares. I couldn't sleep. It deadened the pain, but then I was like, I told them, I said, I can do this on my own. And I did. And they and that they said, you can't. You're in pain and you're not going to be able to heal and rest properly. I said, I can't rest on the Vicodin.
SPEAKER_04I know the Vicid. I told them to shove it.
SPEAKER_07And this is why I would not be a good person on drugs.
SPEAKER_03People love the Vicodin. I guess I think. Maybe that's why you never went on drugs. Maybe. I don't like it. Because I had the same aversion. Yeah. I don't like any how any of it made me feel. No.
SPEAKER_07Anyway.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_07Just adding my little side note there.
SPEAKER_04It's true. It's I don't know which is.
SPEAKER_07Nightmares were so vivid and so horrible.
SPEAKER_04If it made me sleep, I'd be like, okay, then I wouldn't feel the pain if I'm sleeping.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I fell asleep fast, but in five minutes I'm up shaking.
SPEAKER_04Put me in a an in an awake coma where I couldn't even take care of my two-year-old. Am I am I and I got stares everywhere? I was at a split level, and my hand is throbbing up to my eyeballs. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I'm telling you. Yeah, that had it had it Hayden Panetieri story is just very tragic. And yet she looked like the picture of health. She was beautiful, perfect, talented. I just I Yeah, there were some pictures I saw yesterday. I just don't know. You just don't know what people are going through.
SPEAKER_07Not a runway, but you know, where they do, where they walk across like a thing and it's like a photo op. Probably it's some movie premiere or something. Red carpet, you mean. Yeah, red carpet. That's what it was. I don't know these things. Yeah, very and she was pregnant. And she was like holding her belly in a you know loving way, and it's like I never saw the photos before. I again I don't know much about her. We weren't ever, I wasn't ever in her, you know, the target demo if you whatever. Yeah. Or any of her shows or movies. So it I wasn't really super familiar with her. But yeah, I was just struck by how beautiful she was and how awesome she looked as you know, as a as an expectant mother. And then knowing what I know now, I just look at it and I looked at those those images, and I was like how tragic. All of it. And then you tell me about this making decisions to be your own stunt double at 14. Again, there were so many adults around her that failed her.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. By the way, uh women are calling for a boycott of Neutrogena because old videos popped up of Hayden telling a story of how Neutrogena allegedly dropped her for being very candid about her postpartum struggles.
SPEAKER_07Oh, really? How nice of them. Instead of embracing it and highlighting it and putting a positive spin, they just say we want nothing to do with you?
SPEAKER_04Her story was um that they how painful it was that they dropped her as a um, you know, she was the face of Neutrogena. So I don't I don't know if it's true, but they said that's what she spoke of, so and those commercials were very, very big for young women growing up because that was like 2010, something like that. So comp.

SPEAKER_07Hear that, hear that right there? Yeah. That guy sadly passed away. Frank Beard. Uh ZC top drummer since the band's inception. Part of so many big multi-platinum albums, huge tours. The backbeat of that band. Frank Beard passed away at 77. It was actually the day before, but they announced it yesterday. Yeah, they they released uh information that he was in hospice and then went to his home. So he died at his home. Uh he survived by his wife and a couple of kids, but uh they didn't give any other details on his death, but man. Music community was really out in full force yesterday. Uh, you know, with all kinds of uh condolences and sad. I feel really bad for Billy Givens because he has been with those three guys in Z Top almost his entire life. Really since he was out of high school. I mean, they were playing like prom gigs, you know, when they first started.
SPEAKER_04That's so cool.
SPEAKER_07Opened up for Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix couldn't believe how who is this white boy guitar player? Look how good he is. I mean, said very complimentary things about his guitar playing and his style. A lot of people say he's one of the tastiest guitar players in all of you know rock and blues.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I guess, you know, it depends on what kind of soul you put behind it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and he just play any any type of playing. He just had that feel. But anyway, back to it. He now he he lost his his you know, one of his best friends, Dusty Hill, the bass player, a couple of years ago, and now he lost Frank Beard. He's the sole remaining survivor in that band. And they will hit the road. Uh uh they took some time off for this. Uh he had been replaced by a temporary drummer, uh, try to nurse himself back to health. They announced that not too long ago. They said he was gonna take some dates off to get better, but apparently he didn't, obviously. So passed away. Uh, let's see, what was he uh so he passed away on Monday, according to the reports. Age 77, Frank Beard. So pretty sad. Rest in peace. Yes, rest in peace. Power, Frank Beard. The only guy in the band without the beard. Yeah, that's so funny. Did you know Gillette?
SPEAKER_04Did he do that on purpose?
SPEAKER_07Uh, I don't know. I don't think it was ever talked about, but Gillette, you know, the shaving company offered Z Z Top $1 million cash after they really hit it big and the MTV MTV videos and the beards and all that, which by the way was fluky. That was never a planned thing. They went there separate ways just to get some time away from one another.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_07And they came back from this year-long vacation basically to start work on a new album. And both Dusty Hill, who's the bass player, and Billy Gibbons, the guitar player, had these really long beards and they looked at each other and went, We might be onto something here. And they they never did. So they offered them a million dollars cash to shave it off live like for a commercial or whatever. They refused.
SPEAKER_04Do they still have them?
SPEAKER_07Well, they Dusty did till he died, and uh Billy Gibbons, yes, he still has it. Wow. Still has that big old beard. I'm sure he dies it by now. I mean he's 76 years old. Yeah. Might be gray, but you know, not everybody goes gray.

SPEAKER_04All right. All right, it's 6 31. When we come back, we'll uh pick apart the debate last night. I heard there was supposed to be another debate and she refused. Really? I heard the debate was supposed to be a certain way, and she complained. Her camp complained. I don't know what's true, but that's what certain people are saying. Like um broadcasters on the word, Charles Waters. I was watching a video, and he said that um the establishment didn't want the word, which is what they say is the uh biggest conservative news talk radio station in the state. And isn't that the one that the Terra is on? Yeah, yeah. And they said that, you know, why wouldn't you pick us? We pitched it and they never even responded. And the um they said, no, no, we gotta go with SCETV, a liberal, you know, public TV station. So but Van Hip was there. Um, somebody from SCETV was there. We had Greta Van Sesteren, who was very um clunky, like a a wonky wagon. It was not good. I noticed that. I wonder why bad luck. Because normally she's fine. They were having uh issues, the the timing clock was broken, so they didn't have the countdown, so she had to like try and keep time. 90-second answers, you know what I mean? And she was she basically said I watched an interview with her prior, and she was like, I was just thrown into it, and like I I don't even know much about you know South Carolina politics. So she's like, I'm not really asking the questions, I'm moderating. Uh it was kind of it was very disjointed. Weird. Yeah, it was weird. But the crowd sounded like they were for Ralph Norman.
SPEAKER_07That's I saw somebody who was there. They said the crowd is about it's about 6040.
SPEAKER_04Ralph Norman. Yep. That's pretty much how the vote's gonna go. It's gonna be Ralph. Oh, yeah. No one's falling for this BS.

SPEAKER_02I'm just gonna be honest here. I'm not on national security that I'm not that informed on national security, so but I do support the military. My brother was in the Air Force for 33 years, so I will do everything I can to support the military. My dad was in the army. I'm not a polished politician up here. I national security is not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military.

SPEAKER_07Uh there was that. I know that's just a flub and people make such a big thing out of it, but I still found it very funny when this happened.

SPEAKER_07You know, I know there's not 50 million people in South Carolina, but I am here to say it feels like it sometimes.

SPEAKER_04It's really not it's really not good to listen to someone say who's running for Senate, national security isn't really my thing. I'm not a politician. I'm just a seat warmer. What in God's name?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, uh, people are on the budget blinds text on you asked for opinions. And yeah, uh Robert says uh yeah, the grand blue. And she said, uh, you know, she says, no, just what you said, anything about national security. Uh we can't have a sitting senator who says they know nothing about security. So that's a big sticky.
SPEAKER_04It's like ridiculous.
SPEAKER_07Um, let's see. I only watched half the debate. I believe I saw all I needed to in that time. I thought Darlene looked well out of her league, and I think Ralph Norman did a great job continuously harping on her lack of experience. I guess in short, Ralph looked like a posh politician, and Darlene looked like a school teacher on her first day at the job. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh I I got that feeling as well. Now, uh, let's see. I think Graham came off snotty. She tried to play gotcha, but it didn't work. That's true. She didn't even want to shake Norman's hand. I wish Trump would just stay out of it.
SPEAKER_04Some people said that she didn't, but other people said in another uh angle she did.
SPEAKER_07So I know that's a kind of a crummy thing to Sid says there's a video circulating about Lindsey Graham bragging about how easy it is to get Trump to blow things up. I seem to remember that. Uh it was that's an older video. But why I guess it's popping up now because Darlene's in. Kathy says, I think Darlene did fairly well. Ralph stood there and said all the things we should do and how bad government is, but it drives me crazy because these politicians do that when they've been there. I agree. But he's been trying to do it.
SPEAKER_04There's he's only one person in Congress.
SPEAKER_07I was gonna add that. At least he has been trying to do the things that he's harping on as well.
SPEAKER_04And he stood on the steps with the frontline doctors calling it out.
SPEAKER_07And that's a big one because he did it way early.
SPEAKER_04That's a huge one for me.
SPEAKER_07Way early, like when it was dangerous to do that.
SPEAKER_04And when I asked him about it, how could Rom Reddy support Darlene Graham? I'm like over him. I'm like really pissed off. I don't understand that one. How could anybody support her? What's wrong with these politicians? I mean, I understand people who are, you know, oh, poor Lindsey Graham's sister, you know, she's been through so much, and they want to vote for her. But I mean, like informed individuals who are literally in politics that you think have an education on these topics, like who hired if that was a job interview and your job is to know about national geopolitical security issues, and you say, Yeah, not my thing. What in the world? How what's the word I'm looking for? What is the word? Like entitled do you have to be? How how entitled do you have to feel to say, I don't need to educate myself on national security? I'm his sister.
SPEAKER_07It did come off that way. That's what she's saying. Essential Deplorable added this. Maybe you caught this. Greta opened the debate with repeating two major lies, two different occasions. She stated gasoline is at a record high, and a simple Google search will tell you that it's not true. And that is, you're right, Essential Deplorable. It is not record highs. No matter what they tell you, it is not at record highs. It's high. It's uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_04I have that.
SPEAKER_07It is not. The highest it's ever been was under Biden.
SPEAKER_04And you think it was under Obama. What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_07I thought they said that actually Biden beat them.
SPEAKER_04Really?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_04I remember Obama. Oh, I remember that too. Oh my God. I had to drive to go to work.
SPEAKER_07It was like Yes, I had to drive an hour to work, and I was like, I can't handle this.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it was it doubled, if not tripled, your gas that you had to pay. Because, you know, anywhere in a city, you're in traffic an hour, an hour and a half. Easy. Each way, going to work. Easy.
