Good morning, Liz. How have you been?

Pretty good. It's been a while since we spoke. And uh one of the things that the last time we spoke, I think, was uh soon after the assassination the assassination of Charlie Kirk. You had just had him out at a speaker series uh as part of this series, and um we had talked about the impact of that. So how have you been since that turn of events?

Well, uh thanks for asking. Thanks for having me on this. Um busy. Um I had a book come out last fall about uh um prophecy and the end times and the the role of AI in uh world events right now. But um we've got we're coming up on the the one-year mark of when Charlie Kirk was with us at the Grand Strand, which uh incidentally, Liz, was the last event he did before he went to Utah and was sadly assassinated. And uh I want to thank you and the program for, you know, we had an amazing event with uh, you know, more than 2,000 people from 17 states and a huge amount of the attendees who were made aware of it and came out to hear what would be, you know, Charlie Kirk's next to the last public appearance um was due to your show. And I I just want to thank you for just making people aware of great things. But we've got a a speaker coming up, a friend of mine for about 18 years. His name is Eric Mataxis, and he is a seven times New York Times bestselling author, a fantastic great American, Eric Mataxis, and he's got a brand new book out on the American Revolution, the birth of the greatest nation on earth. And here's the deal: August 8th, 7 p.m., the Greg Rolls Legacy Theater. It's free. Okay. August 8th is Saturday. Um and it's uh 7 to 9 p.m. Now, what time do doors open?

Doors will open at 6 p.m. And here's something very cool. There will be a QA. He's gonna speak, but there'll be an open mic QA, just like we did with Charlie Kirk and all of our speakers. And um, you know, we're just trying to inspire people for God and country. And uh, you know, uh one I gotta say this was I think this is exciting, and um everybody listening, since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, it was very sad, but there is such a spiritual hunger and a response. Um, you know, I didn't go to Charlie's memorial service, I was invited, but we had uh uh an event, a youth evangelistic event uh in Mississippi that we'd been working on for about 15 months, and we had uh a public school auditorium we had rented, we had a couple of bands, and you know, we're just talking about uh God and country. Well, every night we turned away hundreds that simply couldn't get in the building. And um, these were everything from middle school to college students that that they want to know how to have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. They want to know about America. And they let me say this, and right now we just finished six of eight summer youth camps with roughly 1,500 teenagers, places like Montana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Indiana. Uh, the kids don't want to go socialist, they don't want anarchy in America, and I'm excited, as uh I want to say a word of encouragement, as tough as things are, and I know you know we're we're living in some, you know, tough times, but there is a groundswell of of the heart and soul of young Americans, and they deep down they know that there's a purpose for life, there's truth. Uh truth is often in the crosshairs of you know crazy worldviews, but we live in America, we've got prosperity, stability, sort of, as long as we get out and vote and vote for good, rational constitutionalists. And uh I'm encouraged, and and I just want to say to everybody listening, um, each one of us, we're like Lincoln said at Gettysburg, government of the people, by the people, for the people. We all have a role to play in the preservation of our nation. And uh young people especially are getting that. And uh I think the Eric Metaxas lecture, August 8, it's just gonna give us a little uh inspiration and little oomph to keep on keeping on and to be a good influence to those around us. Again, for you know, the truth of the gospel, the truth of the Bible, but the blessing that we have as Americans.

You know, uh it it's interesting because my my husband was born in Mexico and came here when he was in his twenties uh and uh became a citizen and all that. But the thing that sometimes we we talk about because he knows Mexican history really well. They really focus on education and history and how what happened to the country. Uh and uh a lot of the kids today are just memorizing data and just little snippets and phrases of history that they don't understand and we're not taught how that history applies to our lives today. So there's not a real kind I I feel like there's no real connective. So I mean, could you imagine young people learning more, especially when everyone's talking about America 250 on how and why or what happened with the revolution, the American revolution, what it really means to what we're experiencing now. And so I started talking to my husband about the Gettysburg draft. And I I was like, I didn't even realize it was 15 minutes long. And as I was talking about, you know, the I was as I'm telling him about what happened in Gettysburg and how important it is reading the you know of the history of the ethical now, I I really didn't realize what's the point. So we forget because it really kind of drilled into our souls about the heart of America and what our forefathers did. Uh and I I think something like this, where it kind of pulls it all together. It's just so important. And like you the whole point of your series is conversations that matter, you know. That is really an important conversation to have and the knowledge to have.

It is, Liz, perfect segue. You know, um, like there's uh a real controversy going on right now about the wokeness and the the deconstruction of our history and the revisionism going on in the Smithsonian. And um, yeah, I spent I was in Washington twice in the month of May for different meetings with different leaders, including uh I met with 25% of the Jewish rabbis in the Western Hemisphere because there's the rise of anti-Semitism, and uh that's just um that's another issue in itself that's of grave concern. But um uh you're you're right, we have got to teach our history. Um, oh my goodness, I I've taught political science for over 20 years. Uh, and one of the courses I teach is that the philosophical foundation of the U.S. Constitution, I mean, how the U.S. Constitution makes sense and how it's uh applied. And many people have said it that our Constitution only makes sense if you believe in morality. Now, what morality? Well, uh it's commonly called the Judeo-Christian Moral Foundation. Uh you can call Calvin Coolidge called it the Ten Commandments. Harry Truman, President Harry Truman, in a 1950 speech, said that the fundamental basis of our nation's laws is Moses on the mount. That's Mount Sinai, Exodus 20. And Harry Truman, a Democrat, uh, and I don't think he would be one today, but he uh regarding biblical morality, now people can believe whatever they want to believe, but in terms of our culture, the the actual functionality of our government, Harry Truman said, quote, if we don't have a proper fundamental moral background, we will end up with a totalitarian government which does not acknowledge the rights of anyone except the state. And and that's really true. And the moral guardrails that not only hold the culture in a state of lawfulness, but the the moral conscience by which we control ourselves, we each engage in self-control to a degree that's been lost. And so we've got to realize, and I would just encourage people to please pray for our nation, really. Um, we've got to rein in the creeping anarchy that we see, and and so many on the left they want to abolish the police, open the borders. By the way, let me just say this, and this is an absolute fact, because um I was in a debate last week in Florida with some college students. Um since twenty ten people here illegally have raped or abducted three hundred thousand young women. And that is a fact. And the the eighteen million illegals that came here under Joe Biden, and we just realized from Biden's personal notes that he actually wanted President former President Biden wanted to let more illegals in to leave President Trump with a greater mess to clean up. But 300,000 young women have been either raped or abducted and trafficked since 2010 by illegals. Now, uh we have got like Donald Trump said in 2016 when he was running the first time, he said, either we have a country or we don't. And um, hey, my my job is to tell people about Jesus. I'm I'm an evangelist, but I care about America because I care about our future. And in doing the conversations that matter lectures, bringing in renowned opinion makers like Eric Metaxas or the the other speakers that we bring, we've also got a great uh event October 3rd, and maybe you and I can uh talk about that as we get closer. Um, but there are people, and we we know this, they don't they don't love America. They want they've got some utopian vision for a global village, and the only thing that stands in their way is this problematic thing called the U.S. Constitution. And folks, our future absolutely hangs on the preservation of America. And I'm just gonna say that as we get toward the November midterms, before God, I plead with people to pray for our country, be informed, vote, vote for constitutional rule of law, rational leaders, because uh we're talking about the future of all of us, plus our kids and grandkids.
