Well quinturns have come and quinterns have gone. How many? Oh, you're not our first baby. Sorry. We've been around the block a few times. Hold on.
SPEAKER_10He is our first quintern. I was about to say, I was like, how many quins have there been? You're the only one.
SPEAKER_18There have never been so many quins.
SPEAKER_10Never been a quinn.
SPEAKER_18No. Yeah. So um, yeah, I asked you on the the live shot that we just did. Oh, I knew. What did you learn? It didn't seem like you learned much. So um, you know.
SPEAKER_10Sorry. You can talk about it. I wouldn't say that. Sorry. No, but uh, no, I wouldn't say that. I think getting the live on air experience was uh priceless because this is not something that I've done before. And I remember the first few times I was on it, I didn't know what I was doing as much. I mean it was really like I had said being kind of frying pan into the fire. True. But I mean it wasn't just here too, though. I mean, over with uh Chelsea at Easy Radio, I had a few internship days and there I had like learned to edit and cut some of the commercials that I've uh was able to be featured in on this.
SPEAKER_18Oh, you did some you did some commercials? Yeah, there's which ones?
SPEAKER_10Uh there was the Carolina Cool Fest. I did some of the uh Friend of the Week for the Pet Adoption Centers that we work with. Cool. I did one for H E T C and recently there was the uh Pauli's Music and Art Festival that is gonna be coming up very soon that I actually cut some stuff for yesterday. Nice uh Yeah, it was just uh very good practical experience here.
SPEAKER_18I think awesome, I love that. All right, very good. Uh yeah, you probably wouldn't get as much hands-on experience elsewhere.
SPEAKER_10No, I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't gonna be this.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, um, yeah, so it was a lot of fun. Thank you so much for participating and always showing up because we've had that problem. Really? Oh, yeah. So you were consistent and uh it was really very good. So um it was a great experience for us.
SPEAKER_10So I appreciate that very much. Thank you.
SPEAKER_18You're welcome. So hopefully it was a great experience for you, and uh you'll use something. Oh man, I screwed that up. I was uh printing something and I screwed it up. But um, but hopefully you'll be able to use uh what you learned here because you know you take all these little gems as you go through life, right? And uh you try and figure it all out um and figure out what you want to do exactly.
SPEAKER_10So And because today is my final day, I've decided I'm gonna go completely insane and just look up a bunch of conspiracy theories to try and slide in the conversation.
SPEAKER_18That's good. That's good. One of them is um or uh you know, Iran trying to take credit for Lindsay Graham's death, right? Right, Nick? Have you heard that one?
SPEAKER_17I I I vaguely heard about that. I think I heard Glenn Beck talking about it and also the threats on Trump's life.
SPEAKER_18Well, I heard there was threats on Barron and Melania.
SPEAKER_17Yes, the whole family. It's it's beyond where it ever was. I mean, it is like in excessive amounts previous presidents put together.
SPEAKER_18Well, they say it's like what was it, 10,000 threats they've gotten. So which ones do you take seriously? And here's a question I have statistically how many bomb threats actually turn out to be real?
SPEAKER_10There was one years ago. I remember it was like the uh the people putting up like putting on bomb vests and walking into Times Square and being like, this, you'll see what happens. And I don't think anything ever came with that.
SPEAKER_18Oh, okay. But I mean, like, you know, when you're in school and they call in bomb threats.
SPEAKER_10Oh, those?
SPEAKER_18And yeah, so I'm just wondering, like, how many like people who make threats that that is um like counterproductive, right? Because then people go into defense mode and then they don't go or they evacuate before the bomb goes off. I mean, wouldn't it be more effective not to give a preamble threat to an event and just do it? Those are the ones that are most successful, right?
SPEAKER_10We talked about it a few weeks back, but I think stuff like that is one, either to get a rise out of people because you know it's not a real bomb threat half the time. But you have to treat it as a treat it as such that's what happens. It's the I guess satisfaction of disrupting the flow of a day. Exactly. Or if there is a bomb that someone has planted and either they call it in or someone else calls it in. I think if you call it in, you're trying to do it to uh be seen. Like we talked about that with a lot of mass shootings and how a lot of the times that people have this urge to be viewed in some way, and even if it's infamy to be seen, so being like, yeah, I've placed a bomb somewhere.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. Yeah. I mean the threats on Trump's uh life we know are ongoing and and it's serious because of all the assassination attempts, um, which is really just so anti-American. Uh, but yet we've had we've, you know, these assassinations happen all over the world, and uh it's very unnerving because uh, you know, when I was thinking about all the people that were at Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral, I was thinking, oh, all these people are in the same place. This is not good. You know, so I don't know how they mitigated that threat at all. Um yesterday they were at the Washington National Cathedral for the funeral service for Senator Lindsey Graham. Uh President Trump spoke, Vice President J. D. Vance spoke, Senate Majority Leader John Thune. Uh also spoke, members of Congress from both parties were also in attendance. So were the Supreme Court justices and numerous foreign dignitaries, namely Bibi Netanyahu and Um Vladimir Zelensky. So uh Trump gave uh a beautiful eulogy, as did his family um as well as Lindsey Graham's family. And today Lindsey Graham's remains have been returned now to South Carolina. A public funeral service is being held at First Baptist Church in Columbia, followed by a procession and a private burial in Pickens County, where uh Lindsey Graham grew up. The family invited the public to pay their respects during the South Carolina event, so uh that will be um happening uh today. Uh I was just looking to see I thought it was Saturday, but it's actually happening today.
SPEAKER_10It feels like it would have been a b a big time gap, right? If it was from the the public one in Washington being yesterday all the way to Saturday.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, sometimes they do that sort of thing. It depends, I guess. But it seems like um First Baptist Church in Columbia will be the uh that's the public one. So if anybody's uh going to that, let us know. Um, you know, maybe uh maybe report back to us tomorrow. I'd love to hear it. Uh I did wanted to s I did want to say that yeah, I was looking at some information regarding the race for Senate, and I saw that Case Britain Yeah.
SPEAKER_17I think somebody else entered into the race.
SPEAKER_18Oh no, I was saying Case Britain endorsed Russell Fry.
SPEAKER_17We've got somebody else who just popped in, I believe, yesterday or late on Sunday.
SPEAKER_18Mm-hmm. The um the uh let me just get the whole list because I think it's um uh I think it's up to nine now. Most I never heard of. So they might be more popular in other areas. But of course we have Darlene Graham, we heard Ralph Norman, uh Russell Fry, Mark Sanford, and Mark Lynch are the higher known people, but I wanted to get the rest of the names. Where that um that Duke Buckner, I think where's the whole list here? Uh Duke Buckner. Yeah, he's an attorney. Um people call him the perennial candidate. He's the one that keeps running. And Danny Ford the second.
SPEAKER_17That's the one that I saw that was a relatively new entry.
SPEAKER_18Well, we interviewed him.
SPEAKER_17Yes.
SPEAKER_18Yes. Um, and he's a great guy, but uh I don't know about Senate. Um Mark McBride, he's uh also a perennial candidate. Uh show him a uh uh an opening in politics and he'll run. Darius Mitchell is a resident of Columbia. He calls himself the hip hop republican in social media posts. Um Clark Nielsen, a businessman in Charlotte, said he has plans to build a home on land he owns in Charleston County. He said he's in the process of becoming a South Carolina resident.
SPEAKER_10All right.
SPEAKER_18That's not Glenda Gell Parker, she's a retired Air Force officer who recently moved to Myrtle Beach. Um, and so she says that she supports a high-speed rail and a strong military. Uh and then Sam Shepherd, a biomedical engineer and entrepreneur, lives in Lexington. He's focusing on cutting taxes and federal spending. So this is going to be a very crowded list on the primary um uh ballot, but we'll soon um find out if all of these people are actually qualified because you have had didn't you have to like vote in like two primaries or something? Wasn't there some sort of criteria?
SPEAKER_17People are calling out uh Clark Nielsen.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, sounds like he wouldn't be the one he would be the one.
SPEAKER_17Darlene for never voting in any primaries. Yeah. How they're not they're unclear on where that fits in.
SPEAKER_18Because she's kind of an incumbent.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, kinda, I guess.
SPEAKER_18I mean, is she considered an incumbent? Nobody voted for her ever. Right.
SPEAKER_10Um feels crazy to me that you can be a businessman from Charlotte and decide that you want to run in South Carolina.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. He plans to build a home. He hasn't done it yet, he's not even building a home, but he owns land.
SPEAKER_10Not even voting in primaries, and you don't even I don't care if you own land here.
SPEAKER_18But I'm saying, like, if you have land in another state, uh does that give you the right it doesn't give you the right to vote here.
SPEAKER_10I don't think it should. And what's your primary residence?
SPEAKER_18Um, I don't know. He says he's in the process of becoming a South Carolina resident. Well, you know, so I think a few people have been disqualified.
SPEAKER_10I was about to say, you can just be the richest person in the world and have uh land in every state. Land in every state and decide where you want to run for Senate that year. I guess if that's how it works now.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, like what oh my gosh. Anyway, I wonder if uh I'm sure he was there. Do you think Congressman Russell Fry was there?
SPEAKER_17At the uh Memorial Service? You know, I can look up on his Twitter account, I would imagine. Yeah.
SPEAKER_18Here's uh Russell Fry talking about uh Save America Act.
SPEAKER_13This is so easy. It's not it's not even partisan until you cross the Potomac. And that's what's so shameful about this whole charade is that it everybody wants voter ID. Everybody uh collectively says that, yeah, you should be a citizen to vote in our elections. Why is that so challenging for the Senate? Uh this is the House has voted on the Save America Act, I think at this point, four or five separate times. It's time for the Senate to get on board too.
SPEAKER_18So I don't know how that's gonna work out, but um uh President Trump, I think he was on Air Force One when he was saying, Hey, um, he's gotta do his job. He said he likes Senator Thune. He said he's gotta get his job done. And he said he's not gonna do anything to stop them from taking a break uh to go on recess. Did you hear him? Did you hear Trump say that?
SPEAKER_17I did not.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_17All I remember is Thune. We didn't get to it yesterday saying, really, there's not enough support for this. Meanwhile, CNN, even CNN saying that a majority of Americans across all political demographics, ages, whatever, they all want this. So how how is it that the people we send there to represent us are saying, oh no, that's that's I I don't want to touch that. You know, the 15 Republicans, you know, the dem no Democrat wants to vote for it, but yet a majority, when I say majority for Republicans, as a matter of fact, here, real quick, it's super short. Listen to this, it's across all political demographics. Listen.
SPEAKER_24Voters favoring photo ID to vote. Among all voters are talking 77%. And this is uniform, basically, or universal, I should say. Universal. Democrats 62%, independents 77%, Republicans 95%. This is something that is popular across the political spectrum. It is a rare thing that is popular across the political spectrum. When it comes to voter ID, the voters are with President Trump on this, whether they're Democrats, independents, or Republicans. Overall, very clear. We're talking about three and four overall who support the idea of photo ID in order to vote.
SPEAKER_17So tell me again why we're having a hard time passing this. I mean, that includes the Democrats. You're supposed to represent we, the people. We send you there.
SPEAKER_18Here's a couple of clips um of Trump talking about on Air Force One about this topic.
SPEAKER_07What's your relationship like with the Sunate Majority leader? He's got to get his job done. It's fun. I have a good relationship with John Thune. He's just got to get his job done. You gotta get the Save America Act passed. Or better than that would be the filibuster. If you terminate the filibuster, everything happens. If you don't terminate the filibuster, only bad things will happen. If you don't terminate the filibuster, only bad things will happen.
SPEAKER_18So he said that, and then he said this. Uh, let me play this clip about why do you want the U.S. Senate to stay in town? I know it's hard to hear the questions.
SPEAKER_04Why do you want the U.S. Senate to stay in town? Shouldn't they be out across the country? Why you what a stupid question? Should they be out and be campaigning, though? What a stupid question.
SPEAKER_07For Jennifer and asked such a stupid, she's a smart person. I knew her all the way back in the Iowa days when she said Trump's gonna win. And boy was she right. So listen, uh, why do I want the save act has to be done. They shouldn't leave town. I'm not gonna stop them from doing it, but they should get the save act done. If they don't get it done, it's gonna be a very bad thing for the party. And frankly, you know, if you look at it, the save act is gonna be voted against by all Democrats, just so we know. We have some Republicans that I will not comment on, a few of them, probably four. That's we probably won't get the vote. I'd like to comment on them, but I have too much sense to do it. The uh the Democrats are gonna vote 100% against voter identification and proof of citizenship. 100%. They want your taxes to go up, they want men playing in women's sports, they want open borders for the world's criminals to pour into our country. And yet, despite all of that, we have the lowest crime rate in the history of our country since 1900 with murders. With all of that, with all of the 25 million people, many of them criminals that the Democrats let in. Well, they just announced this morning they want an open border policy where the world's criminals can pour into our country. I think they're crazy, there's something wrong with them.
SPEAKER_18Uh, yeah, that's what I think too. But uh did you hear that one lady that said, I don't know exactly who she is, I'm gonna have to get her name. But did you see that this Democrat was saying that it's not true that we had open borders?
SPEAKER_17That crack must be really good in DC.
SPEAKER_18I'm telling you, I couldn't believe she said that. She said it's it's in your imagination. Um let me just play it. It's 30 seconds just to wrap this up. This is so funny. These are these Democrats.
SPEAKER_05When I looked at the bill at the time, we had just allowed Donald Trump, who is an existential threat to this country to come in, in part because um voters' perception of America's open borders under the previous administration. As this Trump administration attacked our black and brown neighbors, it became absolutely clear that although they weren't using that bill in Operation Metro Surge, that any additional authority to the Trump administration was the wrong decision. And I've said that I regret it.
SPEAKER_18Oh my god. Quiet, quiet, quiet, Peggy. Like we saw caravans upon caravans, people being killed in the process.
SPEAKER_17Don't believe your library!
SPEAKER_18People dying in the back of hot trucks and hot cars and women being raped and children being abused.
SPEAKER_17It was a mostly peaceful border.
SPEAKER_18I mean, you've got to be kidding me. Drugs coming over.
SPEAKER_17And then it just snowballs everyone. It was your perception. It wasn't. It was your perception of open border. And then they'll wear their blue hair and go, yam, I'm done. He's the greatest.
SPEAKER_18It's so crazy. Really is. I'm and we're the we're the jerks for telling you the truth. It's very hard to uh take people like that seriously. Okay, we'll be back in a moment. I don't want to come back.
SPEAKER_14The Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers is coming back. We are WTKN.
SPEAKER_18Mr. Sparky, you know, getting a generator is a lot easier than you think. A lot of people just kind of put it off, and then the next time a storm comes and you lose power, you're like, all right, after this, I'm gonna call Mr. Sparky. Well, here's your wake-up call. It's time to call Mr. Sparky now. Do it while we are still uh before the heat of the hurricane season. That really is around September. So you have some time to get this whole process done. So what Mr. Sparky does, they come on out, they do uh they inspect the area and figure out what you need, whether it's a whole house generator, a portable generator with an interlock kit into your panel box, which by the way, if you have a portable generator and you don't have an interlock kit, you should get one. And Mr. Sparky can do that for you. Also maintain and make sure your current generator system is uh up to par for any type of storm that may come through. You know, they found in the past things haven't been permitted properly, they haven't been installed properly, exhaust is pointing into your home instead of away. I'm telling you, people do these things wrong, and it could be very dangerous for you. So if you already have a system, um, have them check it out. If you don't have one yet, use the people who do it right. Go to Mr. SparkyGS.com.
SPEAKER_14Week in the morning. It's the Liz Callaway Show with Nick's numbers.

SPEAKER_18All right. Greg, are you listening? I have to get with Greg. Two minute truck. I need boxes, lots of boxes. I need help packing. Oh my gosh. I gotta get motivated here. I gotta pack all my Trump stuff first. Why don't you invite my daughter over? No, no. Oh yeah. No, no, no. She'll be like, let's go out and play now. I want to walk baily. I will get nothing done. I will get nothing done. Yeah, I have to really lock myself in the house. How about an two men in the truck?
SPEAKER_17Unsolicited testimonial from somebody here on the budget blinds text line. Chrissy, I want to shout out to two men in the truck. They moved her recently. Uh they helped my uh I I I think she that was a misprint, not a misprint, but a typo. Uh move back home. And we've used them many times. Yeah. So oh, they helped move her daughter back home. Okay, I got it. So uh two men in the truck have been very kind to my daughter. They really truly are the best, she says.
SPEAKER_18Oh. Isn't that awesome? Yeah. Yeah. So just give them a call if you're moving something somewhere. That's all you need to know. If you're moving anything anywhere, and uh it could be around your home, out of the home, you know, maybe you buy something on Facebook Marketplace. Maybe you got to move stuff into storage because it just doesn't fit in the new house. Or maybe you're building a home and the new home isn't ready yet, but you need to move out and you need to figure out a plan and the logistical nightmare of what to do with your stuff while you're temporarily displaced while you're because your home got sold. That's a good problem to have until it's a problem you have. And then you're like, how do I, where do I go? Well, two men in a truck can help you with that. Go to twomenandruck.com.
SPEAKER_16We now return to the Liz Callaway show with Nick Summers. Yeah, we're late again. Must be the 605 hour, huh?
SPEAKER_18Speaking of you, daughter.
SPEAKER_17Speaking of my daughter. You know, you never finished a story yesterday about the guy from Romania who you said was a big, huge Kiss fan. You never told me that angle of it. He just said that, you know, he's war that warning us the ills of communism and things related. How how did it end up being that he's a kiss fan from Romania?
SPEAKER_18Oh, so he was saying that anybody, this is very interesting. He said he listens to us all the time. I don't actually know what hours he listens. His name is Emile. He was born in Romania and came here when he was 25. His parents defected um like a few years before he came here, and he said, anybody who supports socialism or communism has never lived in it. True. And he said um he has had many a debate with professors that are are putting that in young people's heads. And when young people are supportive of socialism and communism, it's because they live in America. You know?
SPEAKER_17Exactly.
SPEAKER_18And he was talking about um how he he says it's so frightening to see people, you'll never see someone who escaped a socialist or communist country and comes here saying, Please send me back. That was so great. America stinks. They never say that.
SPEAKER_17No.
SPEAKER_18And he's just so angry about it because he says they're so malinformed. And um he says, I just need to tell them what it was like to live like that. And his father worked for a company that brought him all around the world, and he was like, very few people are allowed out of the country, and he would sneak back music. And he was the only kid in the neighborhood, and they had to hide and play music because they weren't allowed to play westernized music. And he had heard through the grapevine about Kiss, and he begged his father, please, please, bring me back a kiss album if you see one. And he and he was his father got it. And his father would bring back all these little trinkets from the West in his travels on ships. I think he was in the Navy, that's what it was. He was in the Navy.
SPEAKER_17Did he tell you what Kiss album?
SPEAKER_18Yes. It was the first one.
SPEAKER_17Oh.
SPEAKER_18Um, double, what is it? Plant plant.
SPEAKER_17Double Platinum? Was that it? Well, yeah, that's not the first one, but that's cool. What's the first one? The very first one was just called Kiss. No. It was the one that was like a double album. It's gotta be then Kiss Alive or Kiss Alive 2 or the originals or Double Platinum.
SPEAKER_18I feel like it had a P in it.
SPEAKER_17It's gotta be Double Platinum.
SPEAKER_18But he said that because his father traveled, he never his father could never speak. He he was his father was so scared. He would never speak of the things that he was able to see and experience, but he would bring these little trinkets back of from the West.
SPEAKER_17I can't imagine why people wouldn't want to vote for that.
SPEAKER_18And then he had a teacher in in middle school, he said, when he was in Romania, that told him to read these certain books from communists. He said, These are madmen that hate people. And he says, You have to read these books to understand their madness and to understand why they want communism and socialism so that you will never support it. That's what he said. He wanted the kids to read these books, and he said he read these books, and and and it was part of when you have a better understanding of why they are pushing this and what their method to their madness is, like this is Saul Linsky Rules for Radicals for Radicals, when you actually read what the rules for radicals is, you realize you're just a pawn in their game, and then you realize, right? So he said he said this they don't understand that all of their little plights that they're fighting for, like, oh yeah, because we always say, okay, the LBGTQ community, right? Why are they supporting this like terrorist regime? Why why are they supporting that when if they were there, they'd be killed already. They wouldn't even be allowed to march, let alone be gay, right? And so it it doesn't make he says you're just pawns in their little game, they get you riled up, they get you in the streets. This is what he was telling me. Um, from just from literal experience. I mean, the man's in his 60s now.
SPEAKER_17The people on the left lie to you when they say, listen, this is about equality, this is about your 15 degrees that are worth nothing, but yet you want to be a millionaire, and damn those millionaires for taking all that money, because apparently there's only a finite supply of money, which is fake, but anyway.
SPEAKER_18Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Uh so we want a piece of that. We're deserved that.
SPEAKER_18Yeah.
SPEAKER_17And and that's what they prompt, but they don't tell you the other side of it.
SPEAKER_18Right.
SPEAKER_17The complete control, the fear, the ends up being that people are murdered and killed for having a different thought than the state.
SPEAKER_18And then he said what happens is that the it's all in once they have you all under control, fed enough, right, unhealthy, uh, housed enough, schooled enough, then they can control you. When they control, that's why public school is a bad thing. I get the point where all kids should go to school, but the the point where the government controls the school. Never was supposed to control the curriculum. Exactly.
SPEAKER_17And it started way back in the what was it, the 40s, 50s?
SPEAKER_18When they control what you read, how you read it, and what is being told to you, that that's how they maintain control over your entire life.
SPEAKER_17Brought up that Russian guy uh who defected and and said told us the what's his name, man.
SPEAKER_18I know, I know. Yuri.
SPEAKER_17Yes, I don't have it at the top of my head, but that's one of the things is you erase American greatness and you start injecting about how horrible we were as a country. Yeah, how horrible we are as a country, and that's what you teach in the schools. Yeah. And you put it and you plant it in these kids' heads, and so then they just you know, that from that came critical race theory, white guilt, all of that, white fragility, right? All that garbage. Right. It's all nonsense. Yeah. Every country on this planet has made horrible mistake.
SPEAKER_18Which is how I grew up.
SPEAKER_17So did I.
SPEAKER_18I grew up thinking in America, you can be whatever you want to be. Just go out and get it. And now they're like, hey, sit home and and and take it. That's what they want you to do. And rich people are bad at it. Stay on a social net program.
SPEAKER_17We'll get your fair share, we promise.
SPEAKER_18I is very baffling.
SPEAKER_17But there are kids who believe that. They're the ones out in the streets. They believe that.
SPEAKER_18But they're naive. And they're and their their brains are apparently. Uh but they will come along. I I I think they will come along.
SPEAKER_17Well, yeah, they'll grow up. What did Churchill say?
SPEAKER_18Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Someone who isn't a liberal at the age of twenty doesn't have a brain. Someone who isn't a conservative by the age of 30 doesn't have a brain. It's true. Emotional knee-jerk reactions are always I believe in the individual. So do I. Rugged individualism.
SPEAKER_18I believe in the individual. Every individual can can write their own plot, right? You make free will decisions.
SPEAKER_06I agree.
SPEAKER_18And and you you do what you think is right. Holy smoke. And you and and you know what? You owe it to your country to be successful. That's how, right? That remember what did John F. Kennedy say in his speech, the famous Democrat. Yeah, I know. Right? Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
SPEAKER_17He would be considered a wing guy.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. Oh, I know. So, all right. It's late. Really late. That's okay.
SPEAKER_14Back in a bit.
SPEAKER_18We have three and a half hours more hours. Do we? Yeah. Well, you asked me what my Romanian friends think.
SPEAKER_17I didn't need the communist thing, but no, it was good. Everything you said was cool.

SPEAKER_06From the WMBF Newsroom, I'm Lauren Korn. A fifth lawsuit has now been filed in the Paulies Island Church Sex Abuse Case, and this one targets the state. The suit claims South Carolina's probation agency failed to keep tabs on convicted sex offender Warren Perry, allowing him to spend six years working as a church custodian. It also alleges the church held an auction where children could spend the day with the custodial staff, including Perry. Perry had strict orders to stay away from children while also on probation, but allegedly lied to his probation officer about having contact with them. Get ready for a possible jump in your electric bill. Santey Cooper is proposing two rate hikes that could add about $13 to your monthly electric bill, adding up to more than $100 a year. The company blames aging equipment and population growth, but many customers say they are not buying it. Santey Cooper is taking written comments through Thursday with another public hearing at the end of August. SPEAKER_19I'm Ralph Norman running for the United States Senate as the proven conservative. In South Carolina, your word is your bond. Too many people campaign as conservatives, then change once they get to Washington. Not me. You've watched me fight. You've watched me vote. You've watched me keep my word. I'm not asking you to trust what I say. Judge me by what I have already done. When you choose your next senator, you shouldn't have to guess. You should already know. Every time Washington spends more, you pay more. To me, there's no greater fight than the one to protect your money. I've stood with President Trump to secure our border and to strengthen our economy. That's why conservatives trust me to take the fight to the United States Senate, where we need a proven conservative to end the filibuster and pass the Save America Act to secure our elections once and for all. I'm Ralph Norman and I ask for your vote. I approve this message, paid for by Ralph Norman for Senate.

You can talk to them about pre-nuptual, post-nuptual, and co-habitation agreements. Um, also, uh title insurance protection from title fraud and title theft, very important, especially if you have a second home, because it doesn't automatically include it like a first home. So they are offering a free 30-minute consultation to look through your title insurance and also a free consultation for estate planning. And it's something to think about if you have a child, and I mean child, even if they're 18, going off to college to get a power of attorney in place. It is so important because if that kid gets into something that they can't handle on their own, or even just talking to the birth star's office, or something going on with their schedule, or God forbid an emergency, you will not be able to act on their behalf because guess what? They're now an adult. Yes. So, power of attorney is very important if you're a parent uh of a an adult child. So talk to them about that. They can get that in place before you ship that kit off to school. GrandstrandLawgroup.com.
SPEAKER_16Good morning. We now return to the Liz Callaway show with Nick Summers. Are you awake now?
SPEAKER_18I wanted to quickly just point out that there is some drama going on, um, and it's very, very sad. In a Merle's Inlet mobile home community, and I've spoken to people about this. We've had people text us. Yeah. So I I just wanted to bring attention to it where this 55 and older community is getting hit with the 16% rate increase. Um, and so mm, let me just play the it the report here from WMBF News.
SPEAKER_09Oceanside Landing Mobile Home Park are sounding off after property owner Cobblestone Real Estate decided to impose a 16% increase in property rent, an increase some residents are struggling to pay.
SPEAKER_15And now a group of those residents have successfully formed a union in hopes of having their requests for relief heard.
SPEAKER_09Our Eric Richards is in Morales Inlet with the first alert on how this is affecting the most vulnerable residents.
SPEAKER_12I would probably end up in my car with two cats, a little box, and a dog. Because I would have nowhere to move to.
SPEAKER_11With new representation, there is some optimism that positive change will come. We can get through everything.
SPEAKER_19But we also know when enough is enough.
SPEAKER_08Thank you for calling. Please leave a message, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
SPEAKER_11Hello, this is Eric Richards with WMBF News. I placed a call for a request for comment to Cobblestone Real Estate, based in Pennsylvania, and I'm waiting to hear back. In Merle's Inlet, Eric Richards, WMBF News.
SPEAKER_18So does a place have the right to increase rent? Well, I guess so. Uh their leases. They do. Yeah. But um I I someone someone really needs to look into this uh because it will force a lot of people to go out to be h homeless, basically. And um I don't know how it works, but uh you know, they've mobilized. We've been hearing about this. I it got on my radar back in February, and uh we've been hearing about people really, really struggling because um they feel like they're getting like uh plowed here and they have no voice. So they've gathered and have a voice now. So this is um America in action. So maybe they'll come to some sort of resolution. I mean, if you see the pictures in the video, you know that uh these are people who are elderly and they're not getting around as good, and uh they may have very limited income, and they're already have downsized as much as they possibly could. And now these rent increases are so high that it's gonna could force them out in some cases.
SPEAKER_17Oh, and that that could be the plan.
SPEAKER_10I was about to say that range too for what they were talking about, 8 to 16%, depending on the premium lot, if you're closer to a pool or have a slightly larger space for your car.
SPEAKER_17I've been told somebody that goes in and out of there quite a bit that it's not much of a pool. It's kind of crappy. Right on the fact that they charge premium to be next to it. Yeah. This I think honestly is a ploy to just make it so unaffordable they leave and then they'll mow it down. And guess what? Brand new houses are condo. Oh, probably. And and here's the thing, you talk about it. Which is their right, but it's just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.
SPEAKER_10I was about to say, technically, it's the right of the company to do that. But frankly, I don't think it should be. I think that I understand, but this is an absolutely insane uh price hike, and it's very evident that uh forcing people to get multiple jobs at the age that is in this community.
SPEAKER_18I don't even think they can get jobs, honestly.
SPEAKER_10Some of them probably can. I think it's ridiculous, and I am extremely happy to see that community come together. And I hope something's done of it.
SPEAKER_18They might have resolutions uh to it, and there there is a problem with seniors afford you know, the affordability of living on your own. I mean, uh a lot of them have medication bills and doctor bills and all of that. Um and so that's why, you know, it is really important to plan for your future and um make sure you have enough money that you can live on. And not everybody does that. But then you your plan is okay, well, I'll move here and then that blows up. So you're gonna have to leave um and find someplace else. And that is not easy when you're in your 70s and eighties and not in the best health. Uh so yeah, so there's gotta be some kind of resolution here, but they're getting a lot of bad press right now, and they might respond in a way where they can come to some sort of conclusion.
SPEAKER_17Or they don't care because the goal is to get rid of everybody and put up some.
SPEAKER_18And honestly, that's their prerogative, right?
SPEAKER_17It is, it is. As a business owner, it is, it's their right, but it's not a good look. It's not a good look. But you know, again, they don't care because they'll just cash the checks when they sell it or put up the condos and really collect some high dollar rent.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. You could you could do what you want with your property, right? Pretty much. So, um, and uh, you know, to do the right thing is another story.
