Here comes the Liz Callaway show with next summer. Making brands brand morning radio great again. Liz Callaway next summer. Picking up your wake up with news, opinion, and insight every weekday morning on Talk 94.5-106.7.
SPEAKER_06It is 6.07 on the Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers. It's June 29th. Right, that's right. And Glendai Radio is still here. Woohoo! Oli Molly, even the Quintern is here.
SPEAKER_09I'm back. I'm back.
SPEAKER_06Look at that. How was it with Chelsea Renee? Did you learn anything?
SPEAKER_09I did. It was great. I did an ad read for the Wet Nose Wednesday. So that was very nice. The little bit of a channel. She put you to work.
SPEAKER_02I love that. That's great.
SPEAKER_08Wouldn't it be cool if that actually got the pet adopted?
SPEAKER_09I know. I was thinking that. Yeah. Because I looked on the uh Facebook where I saw that they reposted everything for how to adopt the pet, a look at the pet. And uh, you know, even my mom looked at it and she was like, if I wasn't allergic to cats, we'd be getting that cat.
SPEAKER_06That's so funny. You know, um, I really feel for these uh rescues. I don't know what is happening, but I don't know if it's post-2020 because a lot of people said this was gonna happen, that there were a lot of people adopting dogs because they were home and all that. Um I have a lot of pets. I I try to help bring attention to adopting pets. You know, I bring a shelter pet on the Conway Ford commercials now. I've been doing it, I've been doing the commercials for 10 years. I've been promoting promoting shelter adoption for 10 years on that commercial, but I've been featuring dogs for about nine, eight or nine years, uh, a new one every month. And everybody wants to know what kind of dog am I gonna have this one. I've had rabbits, I've had a horse, I've had um cats too. Yeah, I rode a horse in uh sort of a la Christy Nome before she did it, I did it. Um I rode uh Daisy, I'm sorry, Dixie is the name of the horse who has since passed away recently. Um but uh just a beautiful uh horse. She was my uh Suzanne's horse. And uh um yeah, so you know, we try to promote pet adoption. And I don't know if you know this, but uh Ori County County Animal Care Center has a lot of different types of animals. Sometimes they got pigs, you know, there's all sorts of things to adopt.
SPEAKER_09I've seen a lot of duck adoptions recently, which is the one that surprises me the most.
SPEAKER_06Did you ever see how people have pet ducks?
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Did you see the Mexico one?
SPEAKER_09No, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_06This duck has become so famous, it's a World Cup duck. Um and he uh I think they're like a like a street vendor in Mexico City, where all like a lot of World Cup matches are. And this duck has become the mascot of World Cup soccer in Mexico, and the duck is wearing a Mexican jersey.
SPEAKER_09That's so funny.
SPEAKER_06And the duck is now super famous. And the people said, This is her baby. We bring this duck everywhere, and the duck is like totally famous because ducks are really and Javier, who works at Tractor Supply, my husband, he says, like people carry their ducks in those big bubble backpacks and they travel everywhere with their ducks. You know those big glass bubbles with the air holes? They bring they go everywhere with their ducks, like they are attached.
SPEAKER_08It's funny. Pastor Danny talked about it one day during a sermon. He was in Tractor Supply, and he's like, honey, let's get a duck. Let's get a couple of ducks. And she's like, No, we're not getting any ducks. And he's like, We would be the coolest people in the neighborhood walking our duck. Yeah, you're walking your dog, but we're walking our duck. And he made that funny, and he was talking about it during the sermon, you know. But he really wanted a duck, you know.
SPEAKER_06Now Well, they're very, very attached. They become very attached.
SPEAKER_08Is the duck wearing the uniform, is it uh like an Aflac looking duck, like white, or is it uh mallard?
SPEAKER_06No. No, the white ducks are the ones that are always seen as being um adoptable.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Aflack. Yeah, that one. Um what happened to those commercials? I haven't seen those in a while. Uh I haven't seen them in a while either. I've seen a lot of Aflack people around years ago, but I haven't seen Affleck people around lately. Come to think about it.
SPEAKER_08I mean, I've Is this still around? Yeah, I've seen them at events like Oh, you have? They might be at the big mixer, or I've seen them at a chamber thing. So I've seen them, yes, they're around. Affleck is still a thing, but just haven't seen as much advertising.
SPEAKER_09It might have been ever since, I mean, like, Gilbert Gottfried died. He was the voice of the Affleck duck, you know? Think about it.
SPEAKER_06Really?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Gilbert Gottfried. I'm pr I'm almost certain.
SPEAKER_06And he died?
SPEAKER_09Did you not know Gilbert Gottfried passed away?
SPEAKER_06Did you know that?
SPEAKER_09What year was that? This was like three three years ago, maybe. Three, four years ago. Gilbert Gottfried He died? Yeah, I think of cancer. It was tragic.
SPEAKER_08Really? Yeah, in 2022. Yeah, four years ago. Wow. So does that mean that I could I could try out for the ah flack duck? Yeah. Yeah. I guess you could.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but that might be the reason why.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it's just 67. Yeah. Wow. Wow. Okay. You're just full of useless information. Well, thank you so much. That's the ticket to being uh, you know, I'll tell Gilbert Gottfried's family that his passing was useless enough.
SPEAKER_09No, I don't mean that.
SPEAKER_06Of course not. I don't mean that. I know. But um, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I I do kind of remember that he died because it was probably like on entertainment tonight or something, or they might have talked about it on nightly news, but yeah, he was uh he was got quite the character, wasn't he? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Uh okay, so Riverfest happened this weekend. Yeah. Uh that was Saturday. It was very, very hot.
SPEAKER_08My shoes did not melt. Okay. But they felt like it.
SPEAKER_06That happened to me in uh working at the Pelicans. You know, that deck, that concrete deck, that gets to like 120 degrees. You can fry an egg on that thing. Um, when the heat's beaten down and my shoes, the glues, glue in the bottom of my shoes melted and my shoes were flopping. And I was like, okay, we can't wear these shoes anymore. Um, but yeah, I mean, literally your shoes do melt.
SPEAKER_08It was pretty brutal that day. You know, Saturday. I think the real feel was somewhere around 103 to 105. You know, it made it to 108 in Conway yesterday, real feel. Wow. Um, and that was for an extended period of time. It it was between 105 and 108 for several hours yesterday. So brutal. And guess what? It's gonna get even hotter. No way, it's gonna get hotter than a popcorn blank on a 4th of July.
SPEAKER_06No way.
SPEAKER_08Yes, it is. It's gonna be really brutal. Um, they're talking temperatures could reach over a hundred degrees with real feels around a hundred and ten.
SPEAKER_06Wow.
SPEAKER_09I was about to say I I had heard 115 for real feel at one point.
SPEAKER_06Where inland?
SPEAKER_08Um well. What's it like on the coast? At the beach on Thursday, Friday, 90 degrees, Saturday, 92, Sunday, 91, but with the humidity, it's gonna be a lot, feel like it's a lot hotter. So you can count on it.
SPEAKER_06I'm already having trouble breathing thinking about it.
SPEAKER_08You can count on it feeling like a hundred degrees minimum uh for those three days.
SPEAKER_06Wow.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but enjoy the 80s today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.
SPEAKER_06I tell you, I was driving to work uh this morning, and I have never in my life seen a moon rise like I saw this morning. I saw it too.
SPEAKER_08Was it spectacular? I meant to ask you about it when you came in.
SPEAKER_06It was like bright orange, huge behind a cloud. I was like, what is that?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, see, I didn't see it behind the cloud. I had a clear shot coming down International Drive.
SPEAKER_06It was bright orange, right?
SPEAKER_08Um, yeah, and it was like following me, you know, because it's that big in that it was so big.
SPEAKER_06And I it was huge. Was the moon up when you were driving? Did you notice it?
SPEAKER_09I just barely saw the tail end of it, but I know what you were talking about. It right as I woke up, I looked out my window and I it was like out of a werewolf movie. I was like, oh no.
SPEAKER_06It's like really unbelievable.
SPEAKER_09It happened the other night too, though, at like three in the morning.
SPEAKER_06What kind of moon is it? You gotta look it up.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'll look it up, right?
SPEAKER_06So what ended up happening at one point while I was driving, I was so fixated on it. Um, it it disappeared behind the clouds, but the illumination of it was lighting up like this glow behind the clouds, and it really looked like it was the sun rising, but I know it wasn't the sun. And um I I just was so shocked on how amazing it looked. I was like, I called Javier, but he didn't answer the phone. I was like, get outside and look at the moon.
SPEAKER_08Uh but yeah, that is it is currently in full moon phase. Wow. Which I thought there was like a little bit.
SPEAKER_06Check when the moonrise is. Uh uh, what time is moonrise? Did anybody ever go see the moonrise?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. That means a lot of weird things are gonna happen. Absolutely. But the moonrise, have you ever been to a moonrise?
SPEAKER_09No.
SPEAKER_06Because the moonrise is like at all different times and all different parts of the sky. It's not like the sun. You can't like set your watch to it. No. Uh but I I usually go down like around the 50th or something like that, um, Avenue and Myrtle. And what did you see?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's uh it actually was up all night, but they we saw the moon set today. Okay, when's it rise? It rises at 8 42 p.m. And it sets at 5 27.
SPEAKER_06Gotta go see the moon rise. Um I wonder what sky is it rising?
SPEAKER_08Of course the east.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it does. It sets in the west, just like the sun.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but you gotta look at the um exact well, I guess you'll notice it in the sky.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it is like the biggest.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I usually go to 50th and watch it in the eastern sky, but it's not always in the same place. I gotta like look for it. But you gotta go see the moonrise. Go sit out there, like, you know, eight o'clock.
SPEAKER_09Get a lawn chair.
SPEAKER_06Get a lawn chair, go sit at the beach. I don't know. Are you allowed to go at the beach at night?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Okay. Um, some guy got arrested for sleeping on the beach. Yeah, you can't sleep on the beach. That's that feels different. But I fall asleep on the beach all the time. So what are they talking about?
SPEAKER_08Actually, um a friend, my my best friend growing up, Dale King, his brother came to uh Myrtle Beach and um was visiting, and he ended up calling my dad one day because he got arrested. He fell asleep on the beach.
SPEAKER_06Late at night?
SPEAKER_08And he had maybe on the overnight. Had an open container or two. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09So he had to call my dad to come bail him out. Yeah. There's probably like a homelessness law or something that's probably the reason.
SPEAKER_06So sleep like literally sleeping on the beach, like overnight. Yeah. Because people sleep on the beach all the time. Um so okay, so go to the beach at eight o'clock tonight. That's your assignment. My assignment tonight, go to the beach. Go to the beach and watch the moon rise and you watch the ocean and how it acts when the full moon is rising. Gotta do that. Gotta do that. It's gonna be amazing. Um, because that moon was something today. So tom so tonight it's gonna be full moon.
SPEAKER_08Sure.
SPEAKER_06Like a hundred percent illumination.
SPEAKER_08Well, it said it's at 99.9%.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, gotta watch it. That's gonna be incredible. Is it a certain kind of moon?
SPEAKER_08Like a summer moon or a strawberry moon or a it did not it did not say anything about that, but I would name of today's moon.
SPEAKER_09It's actually a blueberry moon today. Is it?
SPEAKER_06No, I don't know. Full moon names for 2026.
SPEAKER_09Full worm moon? What?
SPEAKER_06What? Let me see. It's not a pink moon, it's not a strawberry moon.
SPEAKER_09Full beaver moon? What is this?
SPEAKER_06This is the farmer's almost almanac.
SPEAKER_08Oh, all right. You know, like if you're going beaver hunting, it would be uh full moon for beaver hunting. And then they do have the hunter's moon.
SPEAKER_06What is this? Um yeah, the wolf moon.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's like yeah, wolf moon, you associate worms with the moon. I don't associate worms or beavers with the moon.
SPEAKER_08So yeah, but if you're a hunter, then you can still go out and hunt for your worms and your beavers.
SPEAKER_06How do I know? How come it's not telling me the month?
SPEAKER_09A hunter taking a rifle to go look for worms.
SPEAKER_06Okay. The moon, okay, it's full moon today. The moon will be visible throughout the night and um rising at sunset in the east and setting at sunrise the next morning in the west. It's 100% illuminated. Um today's full moon phase, 100%. Um I don't see. Uh today's moon sign is Capricorn. In case you are wondering. And um, I don't it doesn't have a specific name.
SPEAKER_09It might just be a good full moon.
SPEAKER_06It's just a good full moon, a generic.
SPEAKER_09It's a thumbs up.
SPEAKER_06We had a blue moon the other day. Did you know that?
SPEAKER_09No.
SPEAKER_06Mm-hmm. Do you know what a blue moon is?
SPEAKER_08It's a beer. Yeah. Put oranges in it.
SPEAKER_06A blue moon is when you have a second blue moon in the month. In a single month. Usually you only have one.
SPEAKER_09Once in a blue moon.
SPEAKER_06So once in a blue moon means every couple of months.
SPEAKER_08Yep.
SPEAKER_06Once in a blue moon.
SPEAKER_08I learned about that on Gilligan's Island. You did? Yeah, they were talking about being rescued when the blue moon, and then they they slept through it, and some big ship, some big ship came by and they missed it.
SPEAKER_06Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_08Alright, I mean, you think back on all the things we learned as kids in regular TV shows.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_08You know.
SPEAKER_06No. Um, as you can tell, we have um uh no real news today. Um let me see here. June, June. You're right! Strawberry Moon! Whoa! You were right, June is called the strawberry moon because it's the peak of the season. There you go. You were right. Glenn, you never cease to amaze me.
SPEAKER_08Well, I thought he said blueberry, you know.
SPEAKER_06He but you said strawberry. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08You know the only fruit with its seeds on the outside? Strawberry. Strawberry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06They call that the dirty fruit though.
unknownWhy?
SPEAKER_08Probably because of the chemicals. Naughty. Naughty. Naughty. Dirty bacon. Spank that strawberry.
SPEAKER_06No, they do. I don't know. They have like the dirty dozen of Did you ever hear of that?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but yeah.
SPEAKER_06You have to clean them. How do you clean them properly? Soak them in baking soda?
SPEAKER_08No, that's stuff you spray now. Haven't you?
SPEAKER_06From clean boss?
SPEAKER_08Something like that, but have you used that before? No. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_06I just don't eat strawberries anymore.
SPEAKER_08Well, no, tomatoes. Um, if you if you spray a tomato or an apple with that stuff, and basically you're just spraying it and then rinsing it off, it feels totally different. It does remove a bunch of junk off of your bacon. Really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_09There is the gosh. But you're right though, too. There is a specific uh I can't remember what it is though, but you have to dunk it in your sink. You have to like soak them strawberries.
SPEAKER_06I heard that's like one of the best ways to get all the three best ways to clean strawberries. Um they need to be cleaned. They could be they can have salmonella or E. coli. Holy moly. Uh they're one of the dirty dozen foods that contain the most pesticides. Um don't eat mushy bruised strawberries. Place them in a colander, rinse under running water, move them around, pat them dry, pour one cup of vinegar for every three cups of water in a bowl, and swirl them around for 30 seconds and then rinse them off. I don't know.
SPEAKER_08Speaking of vinegar.
SPEAKER_06You think vinegar is not enough? You gotta put that other spray stuff in it?
SPEAKER_08Well, it's called veggie wash or something like that. I've heard it. Yeah, and and it does work. I'm I'm actually amazed at the different theory.
SPEAKER_06What about the wax they put on the apples?
SPEAKER_08It takes it off.
SPEAKER_06It does? Yeah. I don't eat the skins of the apple because of I don't know what it's like.
SPEAKER_08It gets it down down clean and um vinegar cleans a lot of things. Yeah, speaking of vinegar now, I've I bought some brags with the mother, uh, apple cider vinegar. With mother? Yeah, with mother. Mother? Yeah, mother. What you never you never heard of that? It's like the little chunky stuff in the bottom, you know. Uh cloudy. So you sound like you were in a cult for some. I bought I bought vinegar with mother.
SPEAKER_09Mother doesn't like it when I eat strawberries unwashed.
SPEAKER_06I know exactly. What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_08No, it it tastes terrible. I actually tried it. I bought some because I want to start doing the regular taking the mother.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. So um You're falling victim to social media.
SPEAKER_08Uh no, it's actually a conversation with somebody.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it makes fun of Tide Pot eaters, but honestly, I've done a lot of things.
SPEAKER_09There's so many of those life hack videos that I watch, and I just know 50 people did it and got so embarrassed when they realized it didn't work.
SPEAKER_08No, this was a conversation with somebody that's been doing it and had told me some of the benefits from it. And I tried it yesterday. Eight ounces of water, two teaspoons of Ooh, two? Yeah, well, maybe that was my pro maybe that was my problem. And then some lemon juice. Right? Some lemon juice. It I I was like eight ounces of eight ounces is just prolonging the agony. You know, can I just do a shot? But no, you can't, you can't because it's it's really bad for your teeth. It is can eat the enamel of your teeth, yeah. So it's a potion of heart.
SPEAKER_06I would, if I were you, I would think about what you're being told.
SPEAKER_08Well, I actually thought, what can I clean this stuff with now yesterday?
SPEAKER_06Because it's like, wow, that's yeah, you could probably use it to clean your paintbrushes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08All right, you want to take a break? We're loving it.
SPEAKER_06Oh, we might as well.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, we might as well.
SPEAKER_06All right. Quintern.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.

SPEAKER_09We got berries and moons.
SPEAKER_06It's really there's really no news today.
SPEAKER_09And mother.
SPEAKER_06Maybe we should just play music. All right. I tried. I looked all over for news yesterday. Really isn't any. I'll dig something up. We'll be back in a moment.

SPEAKER_13Every morning, every story, every detail. It's all in the detail.
SPEAKER_07The Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers.
SPEAKER_06All right. Amazingly, we have nothing to talk about, but we're running late. How does that happen? How does that happen? All right, I wanted to play for you. Uh in case you were wondering, some of us um follow the Murdoch saga. He's spending like 40 years in jail for financial stuff and another 27 for other financial stuff. And now um all the pretrial hearings are happening um starting today. And uh he's supposed to appear and there's a big battle. Is he gonna be in his, you know, prison garb or is he gonna be in his suit? Uh whatever.
SPEAKER_09He could be in an orange suit.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. As you know, his um whole trial, he's getting a whole new trial because of that clerk who kind of was uh said some things she's writing a book and yeah, she got with the jury and she was like, Whatever you do, make sure he's guilty, something like that she did. Um she goes, It'll be much better for my book if he's guilty. And so now they're talking about there's DNA that the w wife who was killed had in her under her fingernails or something that was never tested, but they know it's if uh it's of another man.
SPEAKER_08I wouldn't have ever tested it.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. So let me play this. So this is actually coming up now is like, can this DNA be tested and submitted? So this is not the beginning of the new trial. This is pretrial hearings, what we can or cannot do. Can he wear a suit? Can he do you know, all this stuff? Listen.
SPEAKER_13There is a procedural status conference hearing happening tomorrow in this case. And earlier this afternoon, I spoke with veteran defense attorney Jack Swerling about one of the key motions that is expected to come up during those proceedings. A request from the defense to change venue out of Collaton County and out of the 14th Judicial Circuit entirely. Here's a portion of what he had to say.
SPEAKER_12It'll be interesting to see what happens on that. The when I first started practicing law, uh you could file affidavits and you could bring uh uh TV uh video in, uh newspapers, uh, you could bring in people who uh had prejudged the case uh and signed affidavits uh or had opinions about the case, and you can get a change of venue at that point if it was so much. Uh however, uh since that time, uh the Supreme Court has spoken about that, and there is a statute uh in effect that uh is gonna require, I believe, that the change of venue just not be granted automatically. I believe what's gonna happen is that they're gonna have to try and pick a jury uh in Colleton County before the court would consider a change of venue. Now, two things. Uh in the Bell case, uh when we tried that down in Saluda County, uh Judge uh John Hamilton Smith, after going for maybe two days of jury selection, he changed venue all the way down to Berkeley County. Out of the circuit. Out of the 11th circuit. Uh in the Beckham case in Newberry, when we moved for a change of venue and we went through a jury selection process, what Judge Floyd did in that case is he denied the change of venue, but he brought in a jury from O'Coney County and sat it in Newberry. So that's the same.
SPEAKER_13And that big hearing happens again tomorrow morning. We'll be there to provide phone money.
SPEAKER_06Um so he didn't mention the DNA, but uh it says here I'll just say unknown male DNA was found under Maggie Murdoch's fingernails at trial. Sled testified that it did not match Alex, Paul, or Maggie. The defense argued this could point to another person. But it is known that this DNA could be under her fingernails just through everyday contact or by some other innocent means, and it does not necessarily mean that the person who killed her um is not her husband, Alex.
SPEAKER_08She was killed with a shotgun, correct?
SPEAKER_06I uh I think so. Um it says uh here, I mean, she would have a lot of contact with her husband, I'm thinking. Yeah. Just life. Um at the 2023 trial, prosecutors relied primarily on cell phone data, the Kennel video placing Alex at the scene minutes before the murders, vehicle data, and evidence that he lied about his ra uh whereabouts rather than a DNA match linking him to the shootings. Um and so there are a lot of people that followed this very closely. Um and uh you know, uh they they know more about the whole gun and the DNA and where's the gun and his whereabouts. I mean, I followed it in the beginning. There's podcasts and on it, there's books on it, there's uh Netflix documentaries on it, multiple um yeah, so also what do what do they define as DNA evidence under the fingernails?
SPEAKER_09Because I think hearing that someone's gonna be like, oh, it's pr like dried blood, like she was trying to scratch her way out, which why wouldn't you think that? But I mean if it was completely innocuous, like you something you wouldn't notice at first until you were trying to go to a retrial. I'm wondering if maybe that's the reason why.
SPEAKER_06As part of the autopsy, it was determined that it was not uh his.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_06But they never checked to see who was it, and then go down that rabbit hole and see if that person had any connection because they had they had a preponderance of evidence that it was him. They didn't bother looking for someone else. And so the defense's um main thing is cast doubt. Because it's it's your job to prove your case, not in America, not the job of the defense to say prove you know innocence, right? So they have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are the one. And people are like, listen, he's gonna be in jail for 40 years, the guy's like in his fifties, he ain't getting out before he's 90 something years old. He's probably gonna die in jail.
SPEAKER_09It's a life sentence, basically. It's a life sentence.
SPEAKER_06Why bother? And uh, like attorney general Alan Wilson basically said two people are dead that were innocent, we owe it to them and their loved ones to tell them who did it and punish the person who did it. So it's the principle and it's justice, and what the financial listen, I'll tell you this. You know what case really bothers me? I'll tell you when we come back, because it's already 6 37. SPEAKER_17From the WMIF Newsroom, I'm Lauren Korn. A viral photo of a North Myrtle Beach police officer pointing what appeared to be a shotgun has the department setting the record straight. Police say the officer carried the less than lethal weapon while responding to a chaotic fight involving hundreds of people and fireworks Friday night near 14th Avenue South in Ocean Boulevard. Department says officers used the weapon as a precaution, but never fired it, adding its visible presence helped break up the crowd and restore order without escalating the situation. One year after a deadly shooting inside a downtown Myrtle Beach restaurant, one family turned heartbreak into a call for justice.

SPEAKER_05So with our post-construction cleaning, we're going in and hand wiping everything in the home to capture that dust, that white sheetrock dust that's everywhere in your home that you're losing the battle with. It's also a process. Like we can't just come in one time and get it all. We have to come back multiple times to get rid of that construction dust. You're gonna want to call us because we know how to take care of it and use the right equipment and hand wipe everything to just make sure that we can capture it so it doesn't get back into the vents and refall again. We do a lot of like when you add an addition to the home or you're remodeling a kitchen, bathroom remodels, or changing the floor from like tile to another type of flooring if you have to chisel the tile up. We've done those jobs too, that the dust just gets everywhere.

SPEAKER_10There's always something happening.
SPEAKER_06All right, it is 645. And I don't know if you both uh or any of you remember that double homicide that happened at Cresscom Bank in Conway back on the day of the eclipse while we were all looking up at the sky with our special glasses on in awe. It was just an amazing sight in August 2020 17. Two women were being robbed. They worked at the bank, they were being robbed, terrorized, and then murdered just for going to work that day. Donna Major and Katie Skeen. It was the most horrific news. It was shocking. I remember, like, you know, we're all in having this spiritual moment staring at this unbelievable eclipse of all time that and um they were in the bank at that exact time being murdered. I just never forgot it. It's it was like a a horrific thing. So both the federal government and the state of South Carolina file the charges. It's a federal case, you know. The guy's from North Carolina, he traveled, he stayed at the hotel, um, you know, it's a federal building money, so federal charges come up. Okay. So now the federal government decides we're gonna pursue the death penalty. And so South Carolina uh decides hey, federal prosecutors are pursuing capital punishment, so we're going to dismiss our charges and let the federal government take care of it. Great. The federal jury convicts him, sentence him to death. Brandon counsel. Um the U.S. Court of Appeals in 2023 upheld his convictions and his death penalty. Okay, so it's good, it's solid. But our lovely president, Joe Biden, came along and commuted a whole bunch of death sentences because they're okay with killing babies. But God forbid you kill a murderer. Hell no. Now, I don't really am I'm not a huge fan of death sentence. I'm really not. But if I if I were a fan of one, I'm certainly a fan of this one. Because this is bad. What he like, you know what I mean? All murder is bad, but this is like what are you doing?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's terrible.
SPEAKER_09Is he going to rob the bank? Was that what it was? Dark to say, but like what a that's darkly smart on his part, I think. Oh like he waited, like, yeah, for the case.
SPEAKER_06He waited for the eclipse. Yeah. So, and he stayed at that hotel right across the street, and it was just like random. I I don't even know. Like, I forgot the whole story, but anyway, lovely Joe Biden commuted the sentence. So now he's going to stay in prison for life without parole. What's it to him? I'm just asking.
SPEAKER_08I I don't think he knew.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_08Autopin.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, autopin. Well, he commuted the sentence of a lot of people, but there was there were two death sentences in this area. I forgot the other one, but I remember this one. So now our state has to now they're gonna re- they're gonna try him on the state charges. And they're gonna pursue the death penalty because you know what? It was an ironcleg case. I mean, it's a slam dunk. So they don't pursue the death penalty until unless it's like an absolute slam dunk. Okay? Because you're like, you're thinking, you know, hey, listen, they've executed like nine people in the last six months in Florida. I mean, they are just processing all these death penalty cases. Bang, bang, bang, bang. They just they just um executed the oldest person on death row. They just they just finally got to them. Um and and Governor Ron DeSantis accelerated everything and was like, all right, enough is enough. These people are sentenced to death. Just get it done. I mean, they're costing a boatload of money in on death row. It costs way more money to stay on death row than it is in gen pop. And so, like, let's just move along with this. Anyway, long story short, that's why. That is why you have to not leave any stone unturned and just be like, oh, well, they're serving 40 years, that's enough. That's not enough because something could happen and that person could get out, and then what? Now you gotta try them for the murder. No, I totally agree with A. G. Alan Wilson to try Murdoch again. As painful as it's going to be for all of society and the country, because everybody follows that case for some reason, it has to be done. And this is why. Because some schnook is gonna come along and say, Oh, I love criminals, like you know, and and and do this. Unbelievable. Or let them out, which is worse. Commute the sentence totally and say, Oh, well, 20 years is enough. He'll be 70-something years old when he gets out, he's not gonna kill anybody else, or whatever. That's why you gotta do it. But that Cresscom ban, I don't know if you remember that, that was 2017, it was a long time ago, but it was the day of the eclipse. I mean, it's nine years ago.
SPEAKER_09I I remember the eclipse because I was working at uh the big water park I had mentioned back then. I remember the whole like it was just so crazy to see the whole world stop around you. But I mean that's kind of what the why he walked into the bank out of that particular Everything around you, no one else is gonna notice it. So go and take advantage of that. Everyone's outside.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And then all the people looking at the sun without the special glasses on after they've been warned by everybody to don't look at the sun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And it was so such a wonderful unifying moment.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, we were out with neighbors and stuff in the yard. Carol and the other.
SPEAKER_06I was over at the um I was over at the uh Double Tree, you know, Spring May Pier. That's where I I took my kids. And um we all people had those special boxes, pinhole boxes they made, and we had the glasses on, and remember trying to find the glasses. Then you had to make sure you didn't have the fake ones, you had to make sure you had the real ones, save them for the next eclipse and put them in the safe until next year. I mean the next eclipse. When was it? When's it gonna be? 2056 or something? So far from that. Exactly. Anyway, so that was um that is the reason why. And by the way, I wanted to bring up something else, which I'll do after this break. Yeah. Okay, we're gonna take a break. Um, let's talk about what happened in North Myrtle Beach. You heard it on the bottom of the hour news about uh what happened with this these kids and the less than lethal gun that the cop was holding. This became national news, by the way. And they all said Myrtle Beach Teen Takeover. And I was like, There was a teen takeover? Because I live in the city of Myrtle Beach, and I was like, wow, I didn't know it wasn't, it was North Myrtle Beach, but everybody always lumps this all together. But I'll uh give you the details on that. That's why there was a confusion. And I had mentioned this to you about um Myrtle Beach police talking about curfews because they've been seeing a lot of gathering of a lot of kids, and they outnumber the police and they act unruly, and then they get in the streets, and then it's hard to control, and they're beating each other up, and then it escalates, and so North Myrtle Beach had that problem. So we'll talk about that when we come back.
SPEAKER_21So don't debate back now, supplies around allow it, goes to the line.
