SPEAKER_21

Alright, so I'm in here solo again. Liz is off today. That's alright. Well, hang and bang, we'll do our thing. 607, good morning to you, the 12th of uh June. Liz will be joining me uh coming up at 7 because we've got our, you know, we've teamed up with Circle K. Most of you know this by now. We've teamed up with Circle K to give you a $100 gas card weekly, weekly, I tell ya. And then a second chance to win the grand prize, which is gas for a year, and that'll be we'll end the uh the weekly stuff on the 31st of August. We'll announce that grand prize winner on September 2nd. So the more you visit, the better your chances. More details on that. Plus, this week's winner coming up! Coming up! Alright, so uh Liz is hanging with her family from uh Chicago. All her in-laws and stuff. Uh what what else was happening? Uh I got a lot of stuff coming up today, but I'm just kind of randomly giving you Oh, oh yeah. This uh what is this thing in this uh the uh the FIFA World Cup currently underway started yesterday and it runs through what? The 19th. It's a global tournament featuring 104 matches taking place across the United States, Canada, and Meijho. What do we what's the the latest game here? Here it is. USA versus Paraguay. The Babylon B was quick to respond with this uh post on X. I love the Babylon B. World Cup Stadium empty as European tourists all just hanging out at Buckeys. That's great. Oh my goodness. I don't know why I think that's funny. I just find it very hilarious. Alright, so uh we've got um you know, I think we should start here. Let's start with the uh the governor's race in South Carolina. Oh, uh I forgot to hold on a second. See, this is the problem. Usually Liz can talk while I can load up things that I forgot to load up. Hold on. Let me just load this up. I had it all ready to go, and then I was like, oh man. All right. So I got that there, and then I got this here. Just follow along here, real quick. All right, I got it. It's great coverage from WIS TV, the TV station in Columbia, giving us the latest. We'll just start right out of the gate with South Carolina politics, shall we? Sure, why not? Because it's so much fun.

SPEAKER_07

Both candidates vying to be the next governor of South Carolina, but still need to secure the Republican nomination.

SPEAKER_23

Our State House reporter Steven Biddicks has more on how this race is intensifying and the jabs the two campaigns are taking at each other.

SPEAKER_02

The gloves are officially off in the gubernatorial Republican primary runoff. The two candidates continue to go at each other, looking for any edge they can to get South Carolinians on their side. Four South Carolina House lawmakers who support Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evett claim Attorney General Alan Wilson called them in 2024, urging them to vote for James Smith for a circuit judge seat in Richland and Kershaw counties. Smith spent 20 years as a Democrat in the House before running for governor in 2018. Planned Parenthood endorsed Smith during that race.

SPEAKER_13

Alan Wilson called us and asked us to vote just before the judicial elections for his friend and lawyer, James Smith. Yes, this is the same James Smith that you know as the Trump hating Planned Parenthood endorsed.

SPEAKER_12

And I could not believe somebody that stood for pro-life issues or claimed to would advocate for such a horrible human being that is completely polar opposite of who I am and what I stand for.

SPEAKER_02

The Wilson campaign fired back, calling Evitt's attacks desperate, and saying she is scrambling after conservatives who didn't make the runoff rallied behind Wilson. The campaign says Smith met the legal qualifications and was a safer alternative to the other candidate, who is also a Democrat. Also challenging Evitt over Governor McMaster's appointment of Dr. Brandon Traxler as acting public health director, asking why the administration appointed liberals and Democrats to keep positions in government. At the time of the appointment, Evett said Traxler would not have been her pick. The race is intensifying, and this is far from the only flashpoint. The June 23rd runoff is less than two weeks away, and on Wednesday, both candidates went on the offense, taking direct shots at the other. Both candidates do support judicial reform and moving more judge appointment power to the governor's office compared to the legislative heavy process that we have now. Ebbett and Wilson will face off in a debate on June 16th at Coastal Carolina University. Reporting at the State House, I'm Stephen Biddicks.

SPEAKER_21

There you go. Also, I wanted to uh because I I follow both of the accounts online uh on on X and A. G Wilson said he uh this was yesterday, he signed Palmetto Family's opposition to gambling pledge because this is I'm just reading his post because I believe South Carolina families come first. As governor, I will veto any legislation that brings brick and mortar casinos into our state. What you say? I thought they wanted a casino. I thought they wanted a casino in downtown Myrtle Beach. It wasn't that the rumor for like, I don't know, since I've been here 15 years. South Carolina doesn't need to gamble with its values and grow to grow and prosper. Now, notice he says legislation that brings brick and mortar casinos. It just makes me wonder, you know, if there's going to be anything on the horizon as far as the gambling machines. We already have online gambling. Anyway, our greatest strengths are our faith, our families, and our communities, Wilson continues. I'm committed to protecting the South Carolina we know and love and keeping it a place where families can live, work, worship, and thrive. And then he included you know his pledge in the fact that he signed the date, which was Wednesday's when he signed it. Interesting. So, you know, we should in all fairness, let's uh let's look here. Hold on a second. I'll I'll let's look and see what uh what the latest post is from our lieutenant governor. Just to be fair, I'm bringing everybody's uh I spelled I spelled Pamela wrong. Sorry. Sorry, Lieutenant Governor. There we go. What's her latest post? Uh seven hours ago. Um she was on with News Nation by Katie Pavlett. I have the resume to do the job. If you wouldn't hire someone to be the CEO of your company, you shouldn't elect them to be the CEO of your state. And then uh just underneath that she says that Alan Wilson claims to be a conservative fighter, yet he urged lawmakers to put a Trump-hating Plan parenthood endorsed Democrat James Smith on the bench. Ooh. So yeah, they're they're fighting. It's it's gonna be interesting. The debate will be interesting. Uh uh as we mentioned, the debate'll be coming up on Tuesday the 23rd, held right here on CCU. So I I'm trying to talk Liz into going. I think I'd I'd like to go. I'd like to just see it up up close and personal. You know what I mean? Okay. So I I don't know. Uh I I'm gonna we got that covered. I want to get to this because this was blowing up yesterday. A little bit the day before, but really yesterday as well. Trump, you know, Liz used to say that the first time around when she was on the other show with the other guy before she met me, uh sometimes she would just cringe because she'd open up her social media or whatever, and it's like, oh, what did Trump say now? And this is kind of one of those things. It's like, why do you gotta say it that way? Anybody who doesn't have TDS can, you know, listen to what he says and it it listen. There's no way to sugarcoat it. I wouldn't have said it the way he said it. It does sound kind of weird, but it's not to be taken literal, you're just stupid. And anybody who just cuts it off and plays you that part, and then what he didn't or what he said afterwards not include that is wrong. Here's what he said. Here, here's and I'll cut it off because most people watching the nightly news, the mainstream media, the evil entity that it is, you only got to hear that part. Listen.

SPEAKER_17

No, I love it. The numbers would try and do that. You know what I really love?

SPEAKER_26

I love the inflation. You know why?

SPEAKER_21

Because as soon as this war is over. And then they stop it. They don't even they didn't even include as soon as this war is over, they just I love the inflation, and then they would cut it. So, and I you know, I hate when they do that, and they do it to to to, you know, mostly Republicans, or or they'll edit out the bad stuff if one of their own says anything, i.e. Kamala Harris. Well, they totally changed around her answer to make it sound like something that made sense. Do you remember that? Yes. So here's what we're gonna do: some pretty good analysis, and I talked about how we've been sneaking oil. Trump admitted it. Sneaking oil out of the Straits of Wormouse. But how were they doing it? They would like, under the cover of darkness, take those those tankers out, empty them into like different tankers, and then put the tankers back. So the Iranians thought that the tankers were still still there. Meanwhile, billions, or millions, rather, sorry, exaggerate, millions of barrels of oil gone. Remember what they told us they're running out of space to store all this stuff? We don't hear that much anymore. Right. So it's really interesting, and again, I'm not covering for Trump here. I I wish he wouldn't have said I love inflation. Because taken out of context or not, that's just stupid, but I get what he was saying, and it is important to play the second part. So, off of my analysis from yesterday on this whole taking the oil thing, Glenn Beck had an interesting take. I was listening to it yesterday uh on the way uh home from the show, and I want to play that because it's really good, and we'll do that next. Who didn't have this CD or actually Albert Cassette back in the day, huh? Coupled with those videos, talk about a rebranding for huge success. I always liked them. 622, good morning to you. It is me, Nick Summers. Liz Callaway has the day off, although we'll be joining us a little later at 7 to announce our winner for the weekly winner for the uh Grand Strand Gas giveaway that we've teamed up with Circle K to bring to you every week with that grand prize gas for a year coming at the end of summer. We'll announce that uh September 2nd. But we got our weekly winners that we have to announce, and we'll be doing that together uh coming up shortly after 7. So that was what I think that's the last thing that we agreed to. All right, so I wanted to get to this because everybody was freaking out. And the left, you know, they're gonna cut it up, they're gonna use it, and all their ads, you know, for the midterms, and sometimes hearkening back to what Liz used to say at the other on the other show. She would like wake up and kind of cringe, like, uh oh, what did Trump say? And this is kind of one of those moments, you know, this is what I mean. I mean, the man's not perfect. We Liz and I never said he is. He's still the perfect guy for the job. Totally behind the president. I trust him more than anybody else in that role. However, he does open his mouth sometimes. It's like, ah, and this is one of those times where he said, I love inflation. But it's interesting because I if you the whole thing in context, I get it, but don't say it that way because that's just eh. And and the media ran with I love inflation part, and that's all you heard. You didn't hear anything else. Well, there was a reason why he kind of said it that way, because he was kind of like sticking the thumb in the eye of Iran by announcing what he announced, and it was kind of a shocker, and it flew over a lot of people's heads, either intentionally or unintentionally, because they're so stupid. They they heard him say, I love inflation, oh I gotta run with this, you know. TDS, right. So Beck had a great analysis of this. It's a little long, it's about three and a half minutes, but it's worth it. That's why I wanted to go to break early here to give us time to listen to this whole thing. Because I had said something yesterday along with a great post and analysis from a great account called Clandestine. Uh I've talked about that account before. Seemingly always on the cusp of great analysis and nailing things down pretty good, that account. If you're on X, follow it. Uh so between that and and what I was, you know, thinking about and I had expressed yesterday, then uh after the show is over when Beck is on, which Beck follows the Liz Calloway show with me next summers, right here on this station starting at 10. I heard Beck talking about this and I was like, that's what I was saying. But he gets into more detail about how they were smuggling all that oil out of Iran. And this is important because part two will be apparently we've got yet another deal. I'll believe it when I see it, because it's not that I don't trust Trump. He's just too optimistic, I think, and enthusiastic about because he doesn't want the war. But back to the back thing, we'll we'll stay on task here. Oil. Great analysis. Listen.

SPEAKER_22

I'm gonna explain what happened here in a second, but remember, before the war, roughly 20 million barrels of oil per day were moving through the Strait of Hormuz. That narrow stretch of water is one of the most important choke points on Earth, and one fifth of the world's petroleum passes through it. Easiest way to understand the Strait of Hormuz is this. Imagine the world's energy supply is blood flowing through arteries. The Strait of Hormuz is the aorta. Okay. You can survive a cut on your arm on your arm, but you cannot survive a severed aorta. When Iran began attacking shipping and laying mines, the fear was not just that the ships would be damaged, the fear that was that the world's energy system would seize up. Gas prices would spike, which they did, but not what they were predicting. Airline fuel would spike, it did, but not what they were expecting. Same with diesel. Food prices, same. Everything delivered by truck would become more expensive, and it did. But they were warning about absolute I mean, I mean, like a death knell kind of shock. I remember they were warning about $150, $200 a barrel on oil prices. They said it could go over $200 a barrel. This system is not built for anything over $130 or really over $130 in sustained oil. Okay. What happened? Well, it never exploded the way they feared. Yet everybody was freaking out. Okay, because you are paying more, and it is hard to pay the price that you're paying at the gas pump and for groceries. Yesterday, Donald Trump said uh this about inflation. Now, let me play first what you heard on social media and on most media outlets. This is what he said about inflation.

SPEAKER_17

What do you concern, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number which came out this morning?

SPEAKER_26

Could that be a number of numbers which are? You know what? I really love I love the inflation. But you know why? Because as soon as this war is over you know, I can say it now.

SPEAKER_22

Okay, that's what you heard. I love inflation. But you didn't hear the context. You didn't hear the context. What was he gonna say? What was he gonna say? Play the full uh context.

SPEAKER_26

I love the inflation in a while because as soon as this war is over, you know, I can say it now. Something in the gym we've been taking millions of barrels of water. Nobody knows you know who doesn't know. We took it at the end of the night twenty-two ships late at night with no lights, because they don't have any radar, because we blasted the crap out of it. We took it this way, well, it's eighty five dollars a barrel.

SPEAKER_22

Wait a minute. I thought he just loved inflation. No, there's context to this. My gosh. Stop listening to these people. If anyone who played that yesterday and leave that as a context, don't listen to them anymore. Anymore. Everybody makes mistakes, but these are not mistakes. This what he followed the I love inflation with was massive. Why is oil at $86 a barrel? Because we're taking ships out in the cover of darkness. We have been taking remember all the remember all of those ships that they said were just stuck there with all the you know hundred million barrels of oil? And they're just struck, stuck there in the straight arm moves, and nothing can get them out. Yeah. What they've been doing is they've been taking those oil tankers out, moving the oil onto other oil tankers, moving those oil tankers back in the cover of darkness. Wow. This is a massive military operation. This is amazing what he announced yesterday, what our military has been doing.

SPEAKER_21

Think about that. Massive is right. And it's been keeping because the it's not just the United States. I mean, this is global implications with the Straits of Hormuz. It's a chokehold, like he said, it's like, you know, piercing the aorta. It's just not sustainable. It the straits need to be open. And Iran, for some reason or another, has this chokehold on it. And a lot of it is fear. It's fear because the companies that underwrite the insurance policies for all of these chips, we can proclaim all we want. No, it's open. We'll we'll escort you through. We're good, we're good. They don't do it, they don't allow it. So they sit there. And when they sit there, maybe we're not suffering with you know any kind of oil shortage. That's evident by that's it. We have plenty. But because we're involved in this global market with futures, and you know, we've explained that a thousand times, that if the global market says oil's worth this much, well then it is, including the gas that's sitting underground at your favorite gas station that's been there for weeks, it shoots up. It's been coming down a little, but still way too high. Way too high. But never as high as it was under Biden, and and we didn't have any conflict, if you will, over there. Not like now. So they've been doing things secretly to keep oil at least somewhat stabilized and not ballooning up to what was initially predicted, which was 150 bucks a barrel, 200. That would have just crushed many on the global stage, including us, sadly. Because we've got a lot of catching up to do. Have to remember the the leases and the refinery, uh all of that was impacted greatly by the Biden administration. They intentionally, purposefully clamped down on any of it. So we've that we've been in catch-up mode since, and now this just made it worse. But thankfully, Trump's been working pretty much at lightning speed to get things cleared. So, you know, it's it is just a matter of time. No, it's not good. This does have to end. And I'm not making any excuses for this. This this whole back and forth, we got a deal, no, we don't, we got a deal, no, we don't, we got a deal, no, we don't, and now we got a deal again. Do we? Do we? And and I feel that sometimes President Trump is just a little too optimistic. You cannot negotiate with these people. Their first number one rule above anything else is kill Americans. Death to America. How do you negotiate with people like that? You really can't. And sadly, it's not the people of Iran, and we've said this before, but I want to reiterate, it's the crazy nutjob leaders. The people of Iran, they don't even they don't even like what's being forced on them. That's not even the close to the religion that they previously you know worshipped and believed in. This this whole thing is just totally against I we've said it before, you look at Pictures from the 40s, 50s, well, mainly 50s, 60s, and 70s, what Iran looked like. It looked like any town USA almost. I've seen it. Videos, pictures, all of it. It's real. And then these religious clerics came in and said, yeah, no, uh-uh. Uh well, that's enough of that. All right, okay. So uh now, where are we with Iran? I mentioned this deal. I'll give you that update coming up.

SPEAKER_19

Got a comment for the show? Message us on the Budget Blinds text line, 843 798 Talk. The Budget Blinds text line. Your connection to Liz and Nick.

SPEAKER_31

There's always something happening.

SPEAKER_21

Hi, good morning to you. Happy Friday. Lizzie will be calling in shortly after 7. Help us do the uh the giveaway. What giveaway you say? Oh, you missed it? Oh, we've only been talking about it for like over a month and a half. The Grand Strand Gas Giveaway. We teamed up with Circle K to give you people, all of you, as long as you stop in there, a $100 Circle K gas card. And then that's on the way to winning a big grand prize at the end of the uh summer. Uh this goes through the 31st, but then on September 2nd, uh from all the entries we'll announce the winner. You get gas for a year. How about that? I know. We were just talking about gas and prices and all that, right? So uh okay. So we we kind of covered the whole Iran thing as far as the oil, taking the oil out and why it's keeping prices somewhat stable, still too high. I get it. I know I totally agree. You know, but it could be a lot worse, and it was worse under Biden. The national average, thank you for the uh the the text on the budget blinds text line. The national average under Biden, the worst it was, was five dollars and twelve cents. Now the national average is still a buck lower than that, just a hair over four. Way too high. In my opinion, gas should never be over a dollar fifty. There's so much of it that it's just OPEC controls so much. But Trump is trying to fix that. Opening up more refineries, that takes time. He has cleared the way for us to get all the uh gas and oil that we have, natural gas and oil that we have here. We've got more than they do. It's just that the people that hate America, sadly, many of the people that we elect and send to DC, yeah, they hate us. And so they make it impossible to go and get what we already have. And they claim all kinds of crazy things and get uneducated and uninformed Americans to rally behind them.

SPEAKER_33

We gotta save the spotted owl!

SPEAKER_21

Please. This isn't environmental, this isn't 1930 where we're just willy-nilly going in and destroying the environment and and you know, nature. They are so meticulous about how they're able to do this now and so clean. Anyway, and and stop saying fossil fuels has nothing to do with fossil fuels. The a the earth actually makes oil. It it's constantly making oil because of you know the inside. It's just go look up a science book and quit listening to your local liberals. They're insane. So, uh let's get move on. I get off on a tangent here. So we were expecting another round of strikes, and then at the last minute, Trump called it off. Why? Let's start here.

SPEAKER_11

Trump just called off strikes in Iran at the last second and has announced all parties have agreed to final points of a deal.

SPEAKER_26

We just made a great settlement of the war with Iran. And we're gonna be uh subject to finalization of documents. We should get done over the next few days. Probably have a sounding maybe in Europe.

SPEAKER_11

Trump told the post the deal is pretty much wrapped up, and top brass and Iran have approved a draft agreement. The terms extend the ceasefire, immediately reopen the strait, and in 60 days, Iran has to downgrade their uranium to zero. We don't lift the blockade until the uranium's vaporized, and we don't unfreeze any of their money until they behave. For weeks, we haven't heard a peep from the gay Ayatollah, but now he's coming out.

SPEAKER_30

Has the Supreme Leader approved this deal, sir?

SPEAKER_26

I understand the answer is yes.

SPEAKER_11

The last two nights have really gotten the Iranians' attention. The USS Michael Murphy launched dozens of Tomahawk missiles, hitting Iranian surveillance, communication systems, and air defenses along the southern coastline. These were the most ferocious and devastating airstrikes since we ended major combat operations in April. Tonight was gonna be even worse.

SPEAKER_26

We were hitting them very hard for the last three days. We're gonna hit them even harder tonight. They knew that we told them exactly what we were gonna do.

SPEAKER_21

Okay, so there's that. They were gonna strike and then all of a sudden they weren't. Now, I've got, according to Iranian State TV, everything that's in the deal, some of what of which Jesse Waters just uh relay, but I want to get to one more sound clip here uh for from uh Fox. This was uh also yesterday talking about it. I don't know if it's the same same uh batch of information that we heard just from Jesse, but let's give it a shot here.

SPEAKER_20

This comes after Iran angered many of its neighbors in the Gulf this week after launching strikes against them in retaliation to American military action. Last night, Iran reportedly fired missiles at a U.S. airbase in Jordan and struck targets in Bahrain and Kuwait.

SPEAKER_21

All right, so that's kind of the latest officially, now unofficially. Iran's uh uh I guess state media, uh close to Iran's negotiating team, claims that the proposed US Iran draft includes these things. Some of this has been mentioned, some of it hasn't. The United States has not confirmed any of this. So take it for what it is, but this is these are the major points. And I I don't I don't see some of this. I really don't. So I don't believe Iran. How can we trust them? We can't trust them. This is why it's like you know, I they know things I don't know, so it's not fair to me to make an assessment on a uh uh such a complicated situation such as this without all the information, which I love all the keyboard warriors that do. I I don't mean on the text line, I mean uh people across, you know, on on social media, it's like, well, why doesn't he just do this? It's like do you have all the information he has? No, I don't think so. None of us do. They do. I I highly doubt that this is where I say I have my trust in this administration over previous administrations. I trust nothing with Obama, never did. Clinton, not so much, not Bush, although I I had faith, but that turned out to be wasted. So I I don't feel that there's anything nefarious on this administration's part to to extend this. No way. Before all of this happened, what was going on? We were in a steady, I mean, moving towards, hey, this is starting to look good again, right? And even Trump said, you know, I have to be in I have to be crazy. But this has to be done. I know I'm gonna take a hit, take a hit in the polls, do this now before the midterms, before it's politically, you know, really harmful. He knew all this ahead of time. He's not a small picture thinker, he definitely gets the big picture. So he knew this was gonna, you know, crush him. And he knew the media was gonna go bonkers over it. But here are some of the details. Immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. U.S. commitment to not interfere in Iran's internal affairs. That's key. Because they're worried that we're gonna come in and start to affect some sort of regime change, which President Trump said no, that needs to come from the people, but I know they want it. Maritime blockade lifted within 30 days. Why does it take 30 days? That's just more stalling, I feel, on Iran's part. U.S. forces to withdraw from areas around Iran. I don't see that happening. Strait of Hormuz reopened within 30 days under Iranian arrangements. That's yeah, no. Suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports. I'll translate that one for you. We're broke. And we've been taking all their oil. I'm sure they were mad as soon as they found out. So they found that out, and we were spanking them with the strikes. I mean, that they had nothing left but to come to the table. 60 days, 60 days of negotiations towards a final nuclear agreement. Remember what Trump has said. Nothing. You get nothing, no nuclear anything. You want nuclear power, it's gonna be run by outside entities. You don't have access to it. So I don't know where that's gonna sit. Again, this is the deal, according to Iranian State TV. Full access to Iranian financial assets. Remember, Scott Bessant, they know where it is, they've already frozen a whole bunch of it. Interesting. And right on the heels of this: $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds to be released with half before the talks even begin. Missile program and support for resistance groups excluded from negotiations. Really? Really? Final agreement to be endorsed by the UN Security Council. Okay. Draft still pending review and approved by Iranian authorities. I want to reiterate here, this is an Iranian report and not even confirmed one bit by the U.S. There's a couple of points in there that sound close to what has been indicated through the administration, our administration, but a lot of it sounds like it's nonsense. It's garbage. If that's truly what the agreement is, Trump should just say, alright, I'm resuming the strikes. But again, I don't have all the information. I can't make that decision for him. We shall see. Yeah, exactly. Lottie, blah, blah, blah. Keith says, uh, I trust a Mexican tap water more. Yeah, I don't trust anything coming from my rent. So I don't even know if this is the actual agreement. I'm thinking no. And I think it's just a wish list for the Iranian regime. Good luck. Because fat chance, that ain't none of that's happening. We're gonna leave the entire area, the region? No. Thirty days before we can open the Straits of Hermuz? No. I think it's gotta be immediate, and Trump's kind of already said that many times. And this whole nuclear thing, forget it. Unfreezing the uh assets, not happening. Now, immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts? Maybe. That's about the only believable thing in there. The rest of it, I think it's garbage. So again, can't trust anything the Iranians say. But again, they float this stuff out there, so it makes and I don't know how, but the media will try to make Trump look bad. He reneged on the deal. No, he didn't. That's not even a deal. He hasn't agreed to anything yet. He just says it's imminent. I think he's too hopeful, but he knows things I don't know. So I'm not gonna second guess him, but I do know this. Perception is reality. Liz and I have said that a thousand times. If this doesn't end soon, it's not gonna be pretty in the midterms. And I know it's not just about political, advantageous, you know, endeavors. This is about stabilizing the region. I mean, everybody over there wants Iran to go away, or at least the regime, not the people, and could care less about what happens here politically, because every two to four years, you know, it's anybody's guess what's going on in the United States politics. So they don't really care about the midterms. But we kind of still have to. Why? Because it affects us directly. Figure it out, get it done. That's all I got to say. Doing it solo. Uh, I was having uh a little mini text conversation with uh Bob the Turf guy on our budget lines text line, and we're just we like to laugh at the bab the Babylon B is hilarious. And you have to have a sense of humor because they're very irreverent, and they will pick on both sides. It's it's not like it's you know, I mean they they definitely have conservative values and they make fun of the left a lot because there's a lot to work with. But, you know, they'll also pick on, you know, the right. And one of the headlines they had yesterday was Trump sets new world record by winning war with Iran 27 times in one year. I can't I I read that and I was like, I literally had to sit down for a second. That's how it was. What are you doing? And then you click onto the full story here. Now, just just interesting. Uh uh, Susie Wiles, Bovino, a whole bunch of people all follow the Babylon Bee. So, you know, you gotta have a sense of humor. Another one from the B is Nation Shocked as jury rules you cannot stab someone in the heart for no reason at all. I know it's not funny because you know, someone died, but at the same time, it's they're very irreverent. And I like it. All right, so hey, let's have some fun. Let's let's play some random stuff, shall we? Come on.

SPEAKER_39

We're throwing in everything but the kitchen steak. Well, maybe that too. The Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers on Talk 94.5.

SPEAKER_21

All right, we'll stay with the funny theme on this Friday. I hope you're having a good Friday. Thanks for tuning in. Do appreciate it. If you're just tuning in, no, Liz is not in today. Uh, but you know, half the show is better than no show. All right. You still got me. Uh, here we go. This I thought was kind of funny. Uh Trump was uh doing this press conference, and I'll get to the meat of the press conference in the Oval Office. They're talking about opening up the fishing waters. I had no idea that that was going on. This is how stupid the last administration. And Trump calls it. He said, that's just stupid. Anyway, well, more on that. But he was asked the question about yet another socialist democrat. That doesn't even make sense. It's an oxymoron. It's a oxymoronic phrase, you know, like government intelligence, right? Democrat socialist, socialist democrat. What's what is that? Anyway, listen, this is a great exchange.

SPEAKER_17

Here in Washington, D.C., there's a Democratic primary for mayor. One of the two leading candidates, Janice Lewis George, is running a Zoran Mandami campaign. It's uh focused on socialist policies. How would you feel if she emerges victorious in next Tuesday?

SPEAKER_26

I wouldn't like it, and maybe we'd take back Washington, run it on the federal basis. We won't put up with it. We're not gonna lose our businesses.

SPEAKER_21

Take back DC and run it. Oh my goodness, is that hilarious? Uh all right. So, did you know this? This is an update on a case that everybody was following, and now it's nowhere to be found. However, we had an update yesterday, and it turned out to be a false lead, but it was back in the news briefly.

SPEAKER_11

A massive search party was deployed for Nancy Guthrie in Mexico after an anonymous tip claimed her grave was found. Christina Coleman has the details. Christina.

SPEAKER_35

Hi, Jesse. Savannah Guthrie's mother has been missing for 131 days now, and a huge volunteer search was underway for her in Mexico today after a group there got a big tip that could have been a big development in this case if it would have turned out to be true. A federal law enforcement source close to the investigation tells Fox News that the tip claimed Nancy Guthrie was in a shallow grave in Mexico and that it was in an area near the Nogales border, known for dumped bodies. The source said that location was checked and Nancy Guthrie was not found. The Pima County Sheriff's Department, writing on X quote, We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico. But this time we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities. This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information. Savannah Guthrie says she cries every single day on the way to and from work over her missing mother. Just such a tragic situation and still such a big mystery, Jesse.

SPEAKER_11

I'm so glad we're looking though. Thank you, Christina.

SPEAKER_21

Uh again, just it's the whole thing is just it's sickening. Uh, and then to have false hope, like, you know, oh, at least to get closure, and then turns out not to be true. Also, pretty alarming stuff. And in most cases, I feel that a lot of these things are just copycat. Ooh, I'm gonna be edgy and I'm gonna do this. But you've got to take every single one of these uh instances as an actual threat. You have to. Thank you, Comey. What a what a dirtbag.

SPEAKER_49

I don't know if you saw this or not. Listen. Now, ever since James Comey's indictment, the phrase 8647 has sadly become a rallying cry on the left because TDS Trump derangement syndrome is real and calls for President Trump's assassination par for the course these days from the radical left. Today, the f the phrase found a new home. Look at this in the grass of the national mall. With all the details from D.C. tonight, our very own Rich Edson. Rich.

SPEAKER_09

Good evening, Sean. The U.S. Park Police are investigating what the administration is calling deranged vandalism on the National Mall. This view from EarthCam looks west down the mall, shows the numbers 8647 burned into the grass right before the World War II memorial, which is adjacent to the reflecting pool that the Trump administration just repaired. 86 is an old term in the restaurant business. It largely means to strike or get rid of a menu item. And this term, President Trump is the 47th president. An Interior Department spokesperson tells Fox News that, quote, any threat against the president is taken very seriously by the department, and our U.S. Park police will investigate this incident and hold those responsible accountable.

SPEAKER_21

Can you believe that? I mean, and by the way, I'm not a huge fan of Hannity. I think he's just turned out to be nothing but a blowhard and TikTok and you know, I mean, just it's it's annoying at times. But he he rightly called it out. It's that culture, sadly, that people on the left think that's funny to joke about offing a president because you don't like their policies. You know, it I've I've seen this phrase before, but we've all felt it. You know, we didn't really particularly care for Barack Obama. You can't really count Joe Biden in that whole mix because he was just he was out of it. There were a bunch of lunatics running the asylum during his administration, and he was completely unaware. So truthfully speaking. But when Obama was president, you know, I didn't like the guy. I I wouldn't go as far as saying I hate him, although I feel A little closer to that now, knowing what we know and seeing what he did and the damage he created and caused. But I never once in my mind, in the back of my mind, it never truthfully never came to me to say, Well, I hope somebody off as I got you know what I mean? Never never And if you think that way about anybody I mean we're not talking about somebody who comes in and harms your family. Well that's that's a different story. But I mean about a political figure in the United States of America that you have a TDS, and that's really that's a true thing. You have it that bad that you want him dead. There is seriously something wrong with you. And I know that maybe the person who did this probably thought it'd be funny and oh look at it doesn't matter. There's been three documented high-profile attempts on that man's life. Because people why? Why? You have to ask ask yourself why. I don't want to get into the conspiracy theories and you know, MK Ultra. I'm just let's just deal with the facts that we know. Three serious attempts on that man's life. Because of policy? Something wrong with a whole bunch of people out there, and it's truly sad. So speaking of President Trump, uh I had no idea that this it wasn't on my radar. Uh maybe I heard this, but I I it didn't ring any bells when yesterday he was in the Oval Office signing this uh I don't know if it's an executive order, I'm not really sure. I mean he has to do all the work himself because the Nimwits in DC don't do anything except preserve their power. Don't get me started. But apparently we weren't allowed to fish in our own waters under the Biden administration. Everything that the left does and it was hyper on hyper speed during the Biden administration. Why? Because they feel they lost time. This was gonna be a slow incremental thing. We know this. Hillary was supposed to win and slowly but surely destroy this country and turn it over to the global elites under the guise of protecting the environment, and we know what's better for you, and you don't need to drive all no 15 minute cities that you know, all of it, all of it. Climate change, all of it. But Trump wasn't supposed to win, and he did. And what happened? He exposed all of it. And he set them back, their agenda, to the point where the World Economic Forum is just yeah, they still exist, but their whole agenda thing, I mean, the who's that guy's what's that guy's name? The the guy that that looks like he'd be in like a James Bond movie as a bad guy, Klaus somebody, and that guy. I mean, he retired, and you know, they've just they have they're not as uh influential. Maybe in other parts of the world, but certainly not here. And when Trump when he always every time he goes, he spanks him and says, You people are nuts. Free enterprise is the way to go. Not the world run according to you. So they were doing all kinds of ridiculous, stupid things during the Biden administration to make up for lost time, including not being able to fish in our own waters, but allowing other countries to fish in our waters and then sell that fish back to us, harming our industry. I I missed that. But apparently it was a thing, and Trump fixed it.

SPEAKER_26

Under the Obama-Biden administration's radical environmentalists drastically restricted access for fishermen in coastal communities, hundreds of thousands of square miles of ocean was cut off for them. They can't fish. Other people could fish, they couldn't. These people weren't allowed to fish. Can you imagine that? Did you ever think that was gonna happen as you grew up? Probably the sons and daughters of fishermen, huh? That someday they were gonna take away the right for you to go fishing in the Pacific Ocean. What a bunch of stations, tons of mass resources, and really the richest fishing grounds they'd say anywhere in the world, destroyed livelihoods and made the United States more dependent on foreign products. And I did a similar thing for Maine. So it's my honor to be taking this action to lower seafood costs and generate millions and millions of dollars in new business for our great, really great fishermen, great people. By restoring commercial access to three areas of the Western Pacific Ocean. It's a large amount of space we're talking about that they were restricted. Other countries would use it, but our country couldn't use the give me or anything so stupid.

SPEAKER_21

Yeah, no, I hadn't. But thanks for pointing it out. Who decides these things? Oh, yeah, the loony left. Every decision they make. I'm sorry to yell, but I get it's really frustrating. Every decision they make does what? Secures and safeguards their position of power and weakens our position as citizens of this great country. Think of the industry they just killed. Not just, but did previously that Trump just fixed. He shouldn't have to do that. He shouldn't have to waste his time. This should be the country of prosperity. Everybody gets the same chance, the same opportunity. I don't mean equity, I mean we're all considered equal. We all have the same shot. You gotta put some effort into it. But when you've got our very own government, or at least people within our government, making it harder for us to succeed, and then coming to us with this solution. Well, we can fix this for you. We'll just offer a subsidy here, we'll get you this there. And you know, they got everybody living off of government assistance. That's exactly the way they want it. And it's just it's so at this point nauseating. Who decides? No fishing there, but any other country can. Oh, and when they catch it, they'll sell it back to places like Walmart. We're buying our own fish that restricted our fishermen from going to get. Because, well, in the name of who knows? Environmental, climate, something, something, something. They make something up. And everybody just goes, Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Good idea. Listen, they're not stupid. The decision was dumb for we the people, but they're not stupid. They do this kind of thing on purpose. The left is on a mission to destroy the middle class. So they're rich friends who they pretend to hate, but they laugh when they go and have their little cocktail parties, and their little donors write out their million-dollar checks to whatever stupid causes that they want, and then that money funnels back into their campaign funds. Eating expensive food, having all the celebrities, enjoying you know, all the things that you and I can't, because they can afford it. But publicly they, you know, we hate the rich! Yeah, yeah, sure you do. No, you don't. Next time some left person screams at you and says, Oh the rich!

SPEAKER_23

Yeah, the rich, shut up.

SPEAKER_21

Good for them! I'm glad they're rich. They worked hard. A majority of them. Meanwhile, it screws us and it pushes us closer to poverty, which is where they want us, because then they we live off of government assistance. And then if we live off of government assistance, they can control us. It's really not a conspiracy theory. It's right there if you open your eyes and you see it. It's right there. Stop voting for these people. That includes uh jackasses on the right, too, who claim they're on our side. And then as soon as they get into whatever position of power, whether it be local, state, and of course federal, they vote completely opposite. And you look at and you scratch your head and you go, why did they vote for that? Now you know why. Because they hate you. That's it. That's simply it. They hate you. We need to stop voting for them. Replace them immediately. I promised it on the uh the live uh X video I did this morning, and I mentioned it earlier that uh Liz Calloway is gonna be calling in as we're gonna do our our weekly winner with Circle K. It's Lizzie on the line. Good morning, ma'am.

SPEAKER_37

Hello there. Oh, we saw the most amazing sunrise this morning. Holy moly. Exactly at 6.05. I just want you to know. Really?

SPEAKER_21

Yes. How many miles does Christian run already?

SPEAKER_37

Oh, he's about to run um seven, and we're gonna r all follow him in on our bike.

SPEAKER_31

Well, at least you're getting away.

SPEAKER_37

I said, How long is it gonna take us? He says, uh, 42 minutes. So I think it's seven, maybe ten. But um, yeah, so I I I need you to help me pick a Circle K winner for the $100 gas card giveaway.

SPEAKER_21

That's right. Let's mention this real quick. We've teamed up with Circle K for the Grand Strand Gas Giveaway, have weekly winners. How do you get in? It's pretty simple. You just stop at a Circle K and do it two times a day, look for the display. Sometimes it has your beautiful face on it, sometimes it just has our logo on it. Scan that baby, enter to win. It's really super simple. And like I said, twice per day you can visit any Georgetown or Ory County Circle K store. Make sure you uh find the Circle K locations by going to circle K.com, sign up to be an inner circle member, all that good stuff. Hey, by the way, did uh when you guys are going through the list, did you see my name in there?

SPEAKER_37

No, I didn't.

SPEAKER_21

I and I entered just to be a pain in someone's butt.

SPEAKER_37

Oh my goodness. That's so funny.

SPEAKER_21

But it's pretty cool because it was really super simple. I just kind of wanted to see what it was like. I scanned it, and then you have to put in your info, which is really easy, and you're done. It was it literally took two two seconds. So, all right. What do we got? What do we got?

SPEAKER_37

All right, you have to pick a number between one and two twenty-three.

SPEAKER_21

223, you say? Hmm.

SPEAKER_37

Yes.

SPEAKER_21

All right, hold on, let me think. What number should I pick?

SPEAKER_37

Do some math.

SPEAKER_21

I don't want to do math. You said I don't have to do math. All right, here we go. Here we go. 53.

SPEAKER_37

Yeah.

SPEAKER_21

53.

SPEAKER_37

All right, number number 53 is drumroll. Drum roll. Do you have one?

SPEAKER_21

Yeah. It's playing. Can't you hear it?

SPEAKER_37

Low check. It's the smallest drum playing just for you. Okay. It's Michael Kolkavage.

SPEAKER_21

Kolkavage.

SPEAKER_37

Michael Kolkavage of Myrtle Beach. Woo! That's the winner. If I had a bell, I'd ring it.

SPEAKER_21

Yeah, I I the bell's on the other side of the glass. I never think to bring it in this side.

SPEAKER_37

Michael Kolkavage. Kolkovij. I don't know. Kolkavage. That's his name. If you know him, call him and tell him to buy you some gas because he just won a hundred bucks. Woo! Uh gift card from Circle K. Congratulations. We'll be in contact to let you know how to pick up your card. And we're very excited about it.

SPEAKER_21

Excellent. Yes, congratulations, Michael. And by the way, all the entries that we are collecting since we started this through August 31st, we'll draw the grand prize winner on September 2nd. And what do they get for that, Lizzie?

SPEAKER_37

Well, the grand prize um will be, like you said, drawn on September 2nd. It's gas for a year. So everybody that's entered, every day, twice a day, since the beginning of May, is entered into this grand prize drawing.

SPEAKER_21

Nice.

SPEAKER_37

So the more times, the more times you enter, the more you're gonna have a chance to win.

SPEAKER_21

It is that easy. Thank you so much, Lizia. Go enjoy your uh bike ride, whatever it is you're doing.

SPEAKER_37

All right, I'm off.

SPEAKER_21

Wish me luck. Uh good luck. See you later.

SPEAKER_37

All right, love you, bye.

unknown

Love you bye.

SPEAKER_21

Liz Callaway calling in on her own show. Imagine that. Uh, cousin Carl's gonna be checking in with us. Yes, cousin Carl. We haven't heard from him in a while. We'll find out what's uh what's going on. I think he wants to talk a little basketball. We'll ask him about maybe the uh the World Cup thing. We'll find out. We'll see what the deal is.

SPEAKER_15

Stand by broadcasting live from Parts Unknown.

SPEAKER_28

It's our official roving reporter, retired NYPD, FDNY, and all around good guy, Cousin Carl.

SPEAKER_15

On the Liz Callaway show with Nick Summers.

unknown

Yeah!

SPEAKER_21

It's official! It's got his own little ramp stager thingy. Cousin Carl is joining us uh on the line. Good morning, sir. How are you?

SPEAKER_25

Good morning, cousin Nick. Thank you for that amazingly professional introduction. Outrageous. I love it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_21

I figured you're on here enough, you gotta have your own little thing. So uh very kind, very kind. Thanks for having me on again as usual. Of course. So we'll start. Where are you calling from? Where are you calling from today?

SPEAKER_25

I'm calling from the Empire State of New York, my friend.

SPEAKER_21

Ah all right, so I gotta ask because uh, you know, we saw the coverage. I don't watch basketball because it's just not my thing. I'm short, so I really'm not interested in things I can't really do. If you know what I mean. So uh we saw the coverage and we saw, you know, we saw him eating the pizza the right way. Everybody's making a big deal about that, and then we saw some of the booze. That was to be expected. He's in, you know, deep blue New York, but we heard also that the booze weren't really as bad, and there was a lot more applause in other parts of the game when the cameras would flash on him. So, what's going on in New York? What's going on with the world of basketball? Trump is a sports guy, we know that.

SPEAKER_25

You know, it's amazing. It's it's what's it's what's people's perception and what the media wants people to perceive. I watched the game myself with my mom in Staten Island, and the truth is this there there were some booze, but there were cheers when they flashed to President Trump during the national anthem. It it it was mixed. If I'm being truthful to your listeners, it was mixed. And the reality is there are a lot of New Yorkers, even the new people who stay in New York that love our president and what he's doing for our great nation. But you know, you know, like I've spoken to you, Liz, about this. We always have to do our own We have to do our own research to find out what's up. But if you're gonna just watch the news on your own, you're subject to what they want you to know. But if you watched it live, we all have ears, and we could use our own ears to find out what happened that night, you know?

SPEAKER_21

Yeah, and I think they make a uh a whole lot of something about really nothing. I mean, it's to be expected, and who cares? It's a sporting event. He loves sports, he's loved sports since we can ever remember hearing anything about a one Donald Trump, so it's no surprise to me. Uh, I do want to ask you this. The Babylon Bee published this article. EMT's to be stationed near the Spurs bench next game to prevent choking.

SPEAKER_25

It was a I I tell you, so I was I was in Brooklyn. I was in Brooklyn Wednesday night. Uh we were commemorating, we were commemorating first responders from the FDNY who were retired and passed away from 9-11 illness. So I was at I was at a bar in Bayridge, Brooklyn, having dinner, watching the game, and I'm a positive person, but I have to say, my gosh, you know, trying to figure out how they can pull this off. So I was able to leave the bar at halftime, I make my way to Staten Island, I come home, and mom is on the couch and she's depressed, and she lets out a traditional Brooklyn statement, and she goes, They suck. And lo and behold, they ship they chipped away, and uh it really was it really was an incredible game to watch. And uh just really happy that they won. Um I'm thrilled for OG Ananobi, who's uh who's a great player, but uh you know, unfortunately, he's overshadowed by you know Carl Anthony Towns and by Jalen Brunson, but uh Mikhail Bridges and uh Landry Shannot and even um I call him Avocado, but he's Jose Alvarado. He played for Christ to Que Christ the King uh high school in Queens. He had a couple shots that were pivotal. It really was amazing to watch, and uh I just would look forward to them bringing the championship home to New York with uh jubilation and without the violence of stupidity that some some fans have uh demonstrated the last the last uh the last game and and Monday night too after the game is just not it's not necessary. Just not necessary.

SPEAKER_21

No, I agree. And and we've just gotten off the chain, if you will, when it comes to this this violence and the celebratory leading to riots and you know, wherever it is, and whatever sport. It's just not just basketball, of course. It's all sports. These people act like jerks. So when is the next game? Because I don't follow it. So when's the next game?

SPEAKER_25

That's okay. So the next game is uh it's tomorrow night. It'll be in San Antonio, so the Knicks lead the series three to one. So I just hope that they can have a solid game without the palpitations for the New York Knickerbockers and their fans, and uh we could have, you know, a wonderful celebration in my state in honor of the Knicks and their hard work this season.

SPEAKER_21

You know, I I did see somebody they predict that the Knicks will lose the game tomorrow, you said, but then come back and take it all back at home. Is that possible?

SPEAKER_25

Anything's possible. Uh listen, I know I'm I'm a sports fan, I'm not a fanatic. It it would be awesome to win at home. But let's just get the W. We'll have plenty of celebration if it you know when when that happens, but uh I just say w just win it, and we can celebrate more times uh than we need to. So if anything's possible, I know that the uh Spurs have a large contingency of nuns down there that have been praying for them. They show the nuns at the game and they have it. Uh I don't want to go against the big guy upstairs, you know. If if it has to be that the Spurs win tomorrow night and the Knicks wrap it up at home, so be it. So time time will tell, and we'll just have to see what goes on on the hardwood and see what happens.

SPEAKER_21

Alright. So uh what else has uh got you thinking? What else did you want to share with us? Uh what's on your mind?

SPEAKER_25

Well, what's on my mind is something really simple and actually it came to fruition when I was, you know, on the phone just waiting for you guys. Uh some big news. I I purchased a new shrimp boat, a 64-foot shrimp boat, and it's refurbished. It's called the Callaway, and it's uh it's set to sail, it's set to sail in the Pacific region that we couldn't shrimp in for years. So uh look looking forward to getting my sea legs back and uh and shrimping my life away. That's what I'm looking forward to doing.

SPEAKER_21

I couldn't believe that, and for some reason I didn't remember that that happened, but I'm not shocked or surprised because any chance that the previous administrations or anybody on the left, any chance they have to just cut off hardworking Americans at the knees, they will do. And I was really surprised yesterday. I was like, I I saw this like little press conference thing he had in the Oval Office, President Trump, and uh as and he basically pulled off those restrictions. I'm like, wait, they were restricting our fishermen from getting fish that are basically off the shores of our land, but everybody else could do it and then turn around and sell it back to us? Did you know foreign fishermen were able to catch fish that we could not catch legally, and then they would sell it back to us? We were buying our own fish, Mick.

SPEAKER_25

But why have we lost common sense in our society, whether it's government, whether it's between neighbor and neighbor, and family member and family member? That is just upside down. Why? And to your point, do you think any A-list Hollywood actor or actress is buying a shrimp boat and going out there and shrimping? It's it's you know, it's the people who get their hands dirty for our country who bust their backside to provide for their families that are in industries such as the shrimping industry. I just we need to introduce common sense back into all aspects of society, all aspects of our government and all aspects of our local communities. And we need to do what's right by the hardworking Americans. It's common sense. I mean, listen, we know the truth. Fishing is not it is not easy between, you know, getting out there on the ocean, between mechanical difficulties, it's it's it's taxing. And we got we have Americans that want to do that and we're prohibiting them from doing it. That's bananas. Yeah. It's absolute bananas.

SPEAKER_21

You know, and and it's not just I agree with you with the common sense thing, but I had some said something earlier y you were probably in the process of calling, so you didn't hear. But I'll repeat myself for those of you that were listening earlier. Apologies, but I want I want you They do this intentionally because they want to really start squeezing up the middle class to consider the client that's all coming from the left. Yes, and also some folks on the right who are only further in power and not protecting the people. But anyway, they do this on purpose because then it guides us to the well, we need government to come in and fix this. The dependence on government is increased, and that is by design. So I don't want to hear anymore that the left really cares about the working man because you have to just take a look at some of the stupid and ridiculous rules, laws, regulations, whatever it may be, how it squeezes those very same people that they claim to support and to, you know, up uplift. It it does the exact opposite.

SPEAKER_25

Well, I actually I I actually was listening in on the radio online and I I heard that that piece from you earlier. And what's amazing is that it is so um it is so contrary to what they what they say, you know, we're all for the middle class, we're gonna do more for the middle class, but their actions are contrary. It's so hypocritical. It's so hypocritical that they say that they're pro-middle class, but yet they they raise the bar ten times higher for a middle class person to chomp at the bit of success. Meanwhile, you know, they're taking care of their special interests, but why don't you take care of the everyday American who bust their backside to provide for their family? I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_21

Yeah, and they have the audacity to go out there and and slam anybody who makes a really good living, and for some folks, you know, the hardworking folks out there who end up doing very well for themselves, the rich, as they say, but yet behind closed doors, they're taking their donations, they're they're buddy buddy with them, they're having their cocktails with them, and then you know, secretly they'll say, Hey, listen, I gotta slam you when I get out there, but you know, we're good buddies, right? Wink, wink, wink, and then they go out in front of the cameras and go, we hate rich people. It's like, come on.

SPEAKER_25

It it it's unbelievable. And it's not even it's part of it is the alleged hatred for the rich people. But they're not looking at the full the the consequences. When you have Mandami standing in front of a building and and calling out a millionaire who brings in job after job after job, and that brings in tax revenue for a local municipality, he's taking his jobs and going to another state. How does that benefit your state, your your New Yorkers who are looking for jobs that and some of these jobs we're talking about are not you know, they're not low income jobs, they are higher producing income jobs, and your s your stupidity is making those jobs move to another state. But they'll say, Oh, we're we're bringing all these these jobs into our state. Thousands of jobs are being taken out of the Empire State and out of New York City. It's outrageous. It's outrageous. And and to get back to basketball, here's Mandami, a mayor, a mayor of the people. Uh he was at the Nick Game. Even standing room only was expensive. Why don't you the warm collectivism, why don't you take the ticket that was given to you or the money you spent on the ticket? Why don't you give that to a hardworking New Yorker who can't afford it? Practice what you preach. So hypocritical. So hypocritical.

SPEAKER_21

I have to ask, because we don't have access to the local media. I mean we can, but we have to search it out, and it's not something we do on a regular basis. Is there truly a rift between the mayor of New York and the governor? Has that really started to be a thing? Is that being reported in the news there locally?

SPEAKER_25

You know, the there's there's ebbs and flows, and I I have to tell you, from what I could see from watching the local news up here, one of the best, and and and cousin Nick, I give credit where credit's due because we're good people like that. One of the best political dancers in the United States of America is Governor Hokel. Okay? When when Eric Adams had all his riff going on with his administration, she was in Iraq in a hard place. Democratic governor, Democratic mayor. People were calling for her to remove him. So she makes a statement and says, I'm monitoring the situation. Okay, that was the public statement. I don't know what on went on behind closed doors, but within a week, Adams got rid of at least three deputy mayors. The uh the commissioner of of DOV was gone. All right? And then Hokel makes another statement. I'm happy with the changes. So she didn't remove them, but she got some action done.

SPEAKER_31

Right.

SPEAKER_25

Now, publicly with with uh Mandami, she's been clashing for a little bit because he ran on the promise of free buses. She said nothing while he was running. Once he got elected, she's like, can't do the free buses. She's like, I could, you know, I could give some subsidies, but we can't do the free buses. So I think now publicly, because she's up for election, you're not gonna see a public riff. Because she's gonna want she's gonna want those radical votes to go towards her. So publicly you're not gonna see it. Behind closed doors, who knows what's going on? But there's a lot of time between here and November. And, you know, what's gonna what's flaring, what's not flaring, who knows? And you just never know in society, what in a local municipality, what's gonna happen that could sway voters. Uh, you know, current events do also influence elections, and uh, it'll be interesting to see what happens. But publicly, I haven't seen too much, but who knows what's going on backdoor because it's look, she's promising stuff, she's delivering on subway systems and and this and that, and she did the same thing four years ago. Crime was out of control in the subways. She brought the National Guard into the subways. It was an election year. She was up for election. So it's just and in the middle, who suffers? The guy or the girl going to work, and there's some maniac who pulls a knife out, like someone just did in Penn Station the day before President Trump came to Madison Square Garden. Penn Station, you know, I know your listeners know, but for those who don't, it's right under Madison Square Garden. Okay, it's right there. And this maniac wields a knife and slashes people. Come on. Crime is down my left toe. Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_21

We gotta go, cousin Carl. Thank you for all your insight and your commentary. Do appreciate it. We'll talk to you soon. Don't make it such a long time in between calls. Be safe and enjoy the Knicks if they win. How's that?

SPEAKER_25

Wonderful. And happy Friday to the great listeners in Myrtle Beach. All the best and God bless our country.

SPEAKER_21

Here he is, the one and only, Scott Harper. Good morning to you, sir.

SPEAKER_24

Good morning, through and I did not make it to the concert this week.

SPEAKER_21

I I figured you didn't because I think you would have let me know ahead of time when you called me, but that's that's all right.

SPEAKER_24

That's all right. I was I was actually in the emergency room that night.

SPEAKER_21

What? Are you okay?

SPEAKER_24

Yeah, I see, this is how weird my life is. I got sent to the emergency room by an eye doctor, okay? That's that's uh that doesn't usually happen. Usually it's uh, you know, some another type of doctor that's so I got sent to the emergency room by an eye doctor. I had a uh I've got a real bad eye infection, and went to the eye doctor, and they sent me to the uh specialist across the street, and um I told him some other things that have been happening, and when he added two and two together, he said, You need to go to the emergency room. So I went to the emergency room Tuesday, uh, stayed there for hours and hours. They drew some blood, they did a cat scan, all this stuff. Found nothing. They can figure out what was wrong. They sent me home, which is good, except for we we don't know why some other things were happening. So anyway. So I missed Weird Al because of uh that.

SPEAKER_21

Anyway. Now I'm concerned because you got one doctor saying you got an o you got a problem. You got uh another set of doctors saying, nah, we can't find anything, go home.

SPEAKER_24

I know. So yeah, that so I've got my I've got an appointment with my regular doctor uh this coming week. So we'll see what happens and uh we'll get everything fixed if it needs to be fixed and uh continue on.

SPEAKER_21

Well, we'll say a prayer for you. Hopefully everything's okay, Scott.

SPEAKER_24

But I went in the hospital last night when uh they had the big meeting uh yeah about concerning uh Liberty Steel and what they and the uh property there, the cleanup, and they did talk a little bit about possible plans for the property, but that was not the focus last night. Uh the focus was the uh cleanup of the uh the site. And um it lasted a little over an hour and a half, and so people just got up and started leaving because you know, if you if you can't stay in an hour and a half, you know, you you you you you you've gone on too long. So after ninety minutes of sitting there, a lot of people just got up and started walking out because it was like, you know, you said when they started repeating themselves, you know, for the fourth time, uh people just okay. But anyway, so it was a uh long meeting, but it was it was informative uh uh uh about the environmental issues. Basically, uh they said there uh possibly are contaminants on the property, and they're going to uh they're going through an assessment right now and to figure out uh what those uh contaminants uh may be before they start the cleanup, and the uh testing of the uh soil and groundwater uh is uh currently underway, and once that process is complete, officials will determine what cleanup methods are needed. That's basically what they said.

SPEAKER_21

Uh did they give a time frame, like on how long all of this will take?

SPEAKER_24

No, they did not give a time frame. In fact, they were asked that you know a time frame, and they just said they they want to make sure they do the job and do the job right, uh however long it takes. But you know, you've got uh Liberty River, the uh company that bought the property. Uh they're re ready to get started uh, you know, when they can on uh developing the property because they've got uh millions of dollars invested in this. And um in fact they were asked uh an interesting question by an audience member, uh the the uh Liberty River Company, the uh company that uh now is about to own the property. Uh they were asked, you know, is there a breaking point to, you know, as far as the cost of cleanup and all of this stuff that you'll say, wait a minute, it's too expensive, we're backing out the deal, we're we're going home. Um and they said, Well, of course there is a breaking point, but we don't know what that is. Uh or at least they're not saying publicly what publicly what that number is. Um I mean he did say, you know, I mean, if if we get told it's a billion dollars, of course we're gonna have to uh back out.

SPEAKER_21

Um, and I'm sure they have investors to answer to as well.

SPEAKER_24

Yeah. So there is a point uh they're not making it public. There is a uh dollar amount that they say, you know, if it's gonna cost more than this to uh get this property ready for us to develop, then we're we're going home. Um so hopefully they won't get to that point because then we'll just have an empty lot sitting out there and you don't want that. Uh we want it to be developed now that it's not gonna be a steel mill. Um and uh but he did say um, you know, I mean some some the uh guy, his name is Warren Waters. Uh he's the uh of uh Liberty River, LLC. He said, uh we've laid uh out plans for a possible river walk, a marina, an amphitheater, and uh some things like that. But that's uh about all he would say. I mean, he didn't go into really big specifics about what may happen with the property. And of course it's too early to say uh what may happen with the property. Now, one one interesting thing that came up that one of the uh Georgetown County Council members, Bob Anderson, said last night during the meeting that I did not even know this until last night, that the Liberty Steel property, almost all of it is in the boundaries of the city of Georgetown. But there's a strip of land between that and the waterfront that I found out last night is county property. So what is that anything that well anything that happens now with that property is gonna have to have the approval of the city and county now. I thought I always thought that the entire Liberty Field property to the waterfront was in the city limits. But I know they said last night that the strip right right at the waterfront is uh county owned. So I guess uh this is gonna be uh uh uh you know uh interesting once the development starts and all the approvals have to take place. You know, they're gonna have to measure exactly where everything is to determine determine if it's city or county and well now they're gonna have to appeal to both uh governing bodies and that could be somewhat of a wrinkle. I guess unless I mean w what the city I guess should do right now is try to just annex the uh the strip that belongs to the county. I mean, it's gonna be a headache if they uh if they have to go through both government entities uh for everything. Um so I mean if I was a city, I would try my best to annex that uh that site, get the county to agree to it.

SPEAKER_21

Now I assume Liberty River, the spokesperson there, the representative there, he knew about this.

SPEAKER_24

Yeah, they knew about it. And I for some reason I didn't I don't I don't think most of the public knew knew that. Um but I'm gonna post I've got that story about the environmental stuff. I've got it posted with the entire video from last night. Um posted, but I'm gonna post a separate video um and a separate story later today uh with the guy from Liberty River and all that he had to say about you know possible future uses and all that stuff about the property. So that'll be a separate story with a separate video that we'll post later today. But it you know, we've got the port, we've got the uh, of course, the South Carolina Ports Authority property that now belongs to Georgetown is still to deal with, and we've got international paper property still to deal with. So, yeah, this is gonna be in fact the the uh the guy last night from Liber uh uh the uh Liberty River Company said that uh this is what he calls a generational development. In other words, this is gonna go on for a long, long time.

SPEAKER_31

Right.

SPEAKER_24

And uh you know, not uh not only our generation, but it may be going on for uh, you know, in the next generation. They've they've they've titled it a generational development for uh uh George S. I you know what? I'm getting kind of excited about, you know, some of the uh things I'm hearing could happen there. But I mean of course, you know, me being a uh the son of a uh Georgetown steel worker, I mean I I hated to see the steel mill go, but when it got down to you know 20 employees, you know, you knew of some, you know, did it did it needed to go. And um But some of the things I'm hearing that could possibly happen, I mean, Georgetown is gonna be um great. You know, if if some of the some c stuff comes to uh fruition. Um we're not just gonna be a pass-through town between Myrtle Beach and Charleston anymore. I mean we'll be a place people will want to go to stay for a few days.

SPEAKER_21

A destination.

SPEAKER_24

Yeah, it's yeah, right now we're a stop by place. You know, you stop, you you turn on Front Street, go, you know, maybe eat and shop a couple of a couple hours, and then you go on to either Charleston or or Myrtle Beach.

SPEAKER_21

So the only thing we actually know that's concrete is the next step, which is going to be this environmental thing and the testing thing. That is absolutely the next step, correct?

SPEAKER_24

Yeah, and they they uh you know there was a lot of uh concern last night expressed by uh the uh some of the audience members about you know if all the contamination will be gone when the the uh new development starts, and they guarantee it's gonna happen. You know, no matter how deep in the ground it is, they said they're they'll get it out and get it gone before um any development can take place. So we've gotta you know take them take them at their word that that's what's gonna be.

SPEAKER_21

I guess that's above my pay grade, but I don't understand. I mean, if it's really, really bad, sometimes that stuff just takes time. But if they say, okay.

SPEAKER_24

It will take time. Yeah.

SPEAKER_21

What else you got?

SPEAKER_24

So we still we've still gotta get half the uh steel mill torn down. They've only torn down half of it so far.

SPEAKER_21

That's right.

SPEAKER_24

And um they said that should start within the next, I think he said three weeks. You know, the second half of the uh demolition. So and he said it should take maybe about three months to uh to complete.

SPEAKER_31

Okay. Very good.

SPEAKER_24

So hopefully by the end of summer, early fall, we'll uh have that whole land uh you know cleared and then the uh real environmental work can take place. So we will see.

SPEAKER_21

All right, what else you got, sir? Scott Harper, got to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_24

There was another meeting there was another meeting last night at the same time, which I cannot I don't know why they were both at the same time. This was a mayor uh a uh meeting called by Mayor uh Mayor Doyle uh about electric electric rates in the city of Georgetown, and they had some experts there uh to talk about how to reduce your electric rates, um, especially as residents and and businesses as well, but mainly aimed at towards residents. I did not get to go to that meeting uh because the uh steel mill meeting was at the same time. Um, but we do have it on our Facebook page. They did live stream it, the city live streamed that meeting. Um so if you want to see it, it is on our Facebook page. And uh you can check out. I don't know, I haven't watched it yet to see what they said. Uh but from what I understand, they were basically telling people how to uh not use as much electricity. I guess you know, maybe turn your thermostat down and turn off lights, you know, maybe how helpful of them. Yeah, so I don't know, I don't know exactly what was said there, but it is on our Facebook page if you want to uh check that out. But why they scheduled both meetings at the same time, I'm I'm not sure. Um, I think you know. But uh anyway, but that's a lot of what's going on. We haven't had a whole lot of other stuff going on this week, and there were no other big meetings this week or anything, so it's been kind of a quiet week. And um the summertime's usually like that because you only uh usually we have uh two county council meetings a month, but in uh June, July, and August they only have one. Same thing for the uh school board. So so you know uh news does uh kind of quiet down in the summer months, except for um and we haven't had any big crime or anything this uh this week just to speak of. So hopefully it'll stay that way. Well good, yeah. We're we're gonna continue to follow all this uh steel mill property stuff for well, at least as long as I'm alive, because it's gonna take longer than that, I think.

SPEAKER_21

All right, generational, they say. That's what they say. Good luck with the uh your eye. Hopefully everything gets figured out there. Scott Harper Gav News Online. I appreciate it doing the hard work. And we'll talk to you next week, sir. Thank you, sir.

SPEAKER_15

Good morning. We now return to the Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers. Are you awake now?

SPEAKER_21

Alright, well, we covered a lot of ground this morning already. Holy smokes. Anyone remember this band? Kind of a prog rock kind of band uh from Canada called Saga. This is like their big hit here in the States. I remember the video. Anyway, heat advisory. So our regular air temp uh today is gonna be uh right across the beach here, about 90, and maybe even a tad warmer, certainly warmer than that inland, and then the heat index will push us. It'll feel like it's over a hundred, like up to a hundred and six. So they have issued a heat advisory for today and and for the weekend. So just uh keep that in mind if you're gonna be out and about uh plan accordingly. Uh Scott Jennings, who by the way, appears on this radio station uh weeknights uh after uh after yeah uh Jack and James. Right, right. Uh he had something interesting. He had uh James Comer on talking about the fraud and how deep this goes and the whistleblowing and and Liz kind of rolls her eyes. I can I already I can I can feel the eye roll from here if she's listening wherever she is with her family as she enjoys her day off. Uh you know, it's still important. I'm I'm not gonna ignore this. And and I'm glad others are not like Scott Jennings. I and I and I do feel that sense of dread like nothing's ever gonna happen. They are making arrests. Um they just arrested somebody uh they arrested three people, I think, engaging in fraud, but this is so widespread and in so many different states. And to get a handle on it, the first thing is you it's gotta be exposed. And then it's up to the DOJ. I uh you know, Congress has nothing. They can hold all the hearings they want and get all their great sound bites for their fundraising activities and blah, blah, blah. And for that, yes, I'm sick of all that. I'm so sick of the hearings that go nowhere and do nothing. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Except for exposure. Exposure is still good. It's just whether or not anybody does anything. Now, during the last administration, they had hearings upon hearings all the time, and everything was exposed, but nothing was ever done. Why? Because of that administration's DOJ. The DOJ has just become politicized. It's better now, but we still have rogue actors in the CIA and the FBI and the DOJ. You know, they they root out as many as they can, but you you still deal with it. So I thought this was important to pass along because this is comer talking about it with Scott Jennings on his show last night.

SPEAKER_42

Minnesota fraud, the House Oversight Committee has a new report about how Tim Walls, the governor, and Keith Ellison, the Attorney General, fueled Minnesota's fraud explosion. And to break it down, we have the chairman of the House Oversight Committee joining us live right now, Jamie Comer of Kentucky. Congressman, thanks for being here. This is shocking information that you have uncovered. And as I understand it, law enforcement is now involved. Tell us about it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, this report is based on many hours of transcribed interviews with Minnesota State employees, as well as some depositions, uh, plus uh emails and correspondence. And what we determined uh with evidence is that Tim Waltz and Attorney General Keith Ellison knew for years about the massive amounts of fraud. And what we're talking about here, Scott, is $300 million in uh food benefit fraud and at least one billion dollars in other types of welfare fraud. Uh this the basis for this report uh was testimony from nine different Minnesota state employees, career state employees, most of whom were all registered Democrats. They did exactly what they were supposed to do as state employees. They found the fraud and they reported it to their superiors. But when they got to the point of telling the attorney general and the governor, time after time, the governor turned a blind eye, and at a certain point, he got frustrated because the state employees would continue to blow the whistle on this fraud and he turned to retaliation. He actually spent tax dollars to hire uh investigators to follow them around uh and harass the state employees to try to intimidate and deter them from uh doing their job with respect to reporting fraud.

SPEAKER_42

Is there more to come from your committee?

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. We we're on the ground in Minnesota. Uh we've been uh doing uh investigations in California pertaining to hospice fraud. We've expanded this to Ohio with Medicaid fraud there. Uh we're about to roll into New York. So anywhere we get credible information of any type of fraud with government taxpayer dollars, we're going in there and hopefully we'll have more government employees come forward like they did in Minnesota and help us uh be able to progress our investigation and hopefully hold some people accountable.

SPEAKER_21

Okay, see that's the that's the statement I did not like. Hopefully hold some people accountable. No, no, I don't want to hear that from you. You know, I like James Comer. But I I want to hear unequivocally, we will get to the bottom of this. We will turn over all the evidence, and law enforcement will get these people. I know he has to say what he has to say, but this this has to stop. And and and the foreign-born fraud, if you will, that means people coming here from other countries and gaming our system. It's bad enough. We got our own slugs gaming the system here, including some elected people, if you know what I mean. But, you know, now we've got you know the the other people in other countries that figure out wow, that's pretty easy to just we could live pretty much scot-free and do all kinds of criminal activity to boot. And that's what's going on. They come here, they apply for all this assistance, they get it, they get treated better than our own vets. And then their little side job of drug running and whatever else they're doing, child trafficking. Oh, I have that coming up as well. We're gonna get to more of that and some pretty big revelations and some big arrests, and some horrific details attached to it. Uh, when we come back on the other side. It is the Liz Caliboy show. Good morning. I mean, it's not all bad news, there's some good news to kick off your Friday. Um I I have uh Fox News on over my shoulder there. SpaceX IPO expected to create all kinds of uh interest, I guess. Stock market debut today. Wow. 838, good morning to you. We got Andy Hazel on deck, but I wanted to finish up in the uh the fraud department, if you will, because some pretty interesting things happened. Uh uh also, you know, speaking of Minnesota, you know, Trump again, it he does not, he's not letting the subject die, and that's good. Because if he's focused on it, then that means people in his cabinet or people in his orbit, his inner circle, are also paying attention. And it was brought up again yesterday. Listen.

SPEAKER_26

I don't like it. These people don't like it, I can tell you. I think I can speak for you.

SPEAKER_21

Yeah.

SPEAKER_26

She comes in, Ilhan Omar. She comes in, she tells us how to run the United States of America, and she comes from a place with without anything, without anything, probably among the worst countries in the world. And she says, the Constitution of the United States protects me. She shouldn't be protected. She honestly should be thrown out of the country. She's corrupt. And uh, most of the people that came in are corrupt, and the whole voting system is corrupt in Minnesota. I I won Minnesota three times, easily. I won almost every county, but they didn't give it to me. It's a corrupt system, very corrupt state. The governor is terrible, the attorney general is terrible. They're all very corrupt people.

SPEAKER_21

Now, uh again, uh, we know this, but waiting. Now they have turned over all their evidence, as we heard from the last segment. Uh Scott Jennings had uh James Comer on. They've turned over all the evidence. Uh sounds like they got them dead to rights. Now it's a matter of, you know, either I I can't imagine any more investigation is needed. Now it's just turn the screws. Get them in. Uh President Trump also uh posted on Truth Social and it was re-posted rapid response on X Twitter saying the United States of America cannot live with the shackles of birthright citizenship. It is not economically or otherwise sustainable. No other country in the world of consequence, that's key, because there are a few countries that do it, but they're not of consequence. Uh, does it. So, yeah, that's something that's also still front and center of his mind, and still waiting on the Supreme Court ruling on that. But we had Laura talking about an instance of fraud last night and some arrests. I want to get to that.

SPEAKER_44

Fraudsters, beware, because the Trump administration is coming for you. The FBI making its first arrest from the Bureau's most wanted fraudsters list. I love this. Fox News correspondent Christina Coleman in our West Coast newsroom with all those details. Christina, tell us all. I love this story.

SPEAKER_35

I do too, Laura. You know, the Trump administration clearly cracking down on these awful fraudsters and talk about stealing from the needy. Federal authorities say this guy, Abdulhali Eric, a former Minneapolis grocery and delay store owner, fraudulently received more than $4.2 million in payments from the Feeding Our Future program during the COVID pandemic. Prosecutors say she used some of the money to fund a lavish lifestyle that included luxury vacations and the purchase of, get this, a $12,000 17th century crossbow. Okay. And the fraud apparently doesn't stop there. I just spoke with a fed up Los Angeles taxpayer who lives near a property that a Brentwood man allegedly sold to a homeless housing developer for more than double his original purchase price at $27.3 million. He's now facing several federal counts of bank fraud. Authorities say he defrauded lenders to aid his property flipping business. Upsetting indeed.

SPEAKER_21

See, you know, this is exactly my point. In that story, you know, those high-profile arrests, there is so much fraud. And I don't know if it's, you know, half of our national debt, like some claim. It might be to get to the bottom of it. I don't know if that's even possible because it's just there's so much of it. But to get to at least a large portion of it is going to take some time when you have that much fraud. And here's the thing it's these stupid government programs. That's what it is. We send our taxpayer dollars to, you know, every time they tell us they need we need more of your money, what do they tell us? Oh, we gotta fix the roads and we we gotta we gotta we gotta schools, you know, local, on a local level. That's what they say all the time. Okay. And and the federal government says, oh, we we need we need more money for this, and and we need, you know, for the military. Okay, okay. But somehow, all of this money that we send them weekly, biweekly, however you get paid, once a month, whatever, ends up in these clowns' pockets. Why? Who who is who's doing the oversight on all this? It's because of these government programs that are used and abused, these grants. And I'm not saying that there aren't legitimate grants being issued to people who legitimately need them, of course. Uh you know, but here's an example of of one such program that has been stopped by the federal government. Why? Because it's just filled with fraud. And then, of course, the people scream on the left, you can't do that. Well, you haven't done anything with the money we sent you so far. The problem continues to grow and expand, so the money we're sending you isn't doing jack. It's this uh the amount of money we spend on it. And look at the results. Nothing, nothing ever gets fixed. It reminds me of the war on poverty. No matter how many millions and billions, probably maybe even trillion dollars by now, maybe more. I don't even know. We throw at this problem since we've started to attack you know the war on poverty way back in the day, hasn't moved the needle one millimeter. Not one bit. We haven't done anything. Except created an environment that people come here and homegrown to ripe with fraud. And then you got the politicians sticking their hand in there as well. Let's not forget that. You know, these this money that we donate to certain charities and taxpayer money, with you said, thankfully that's been ended. Somehow ends up in either their pockets or their campaign. It's this is why nothing gets done, because they they don't want the gravy train to end. No way. So here's that homeless fund that's been canceled. Put on hold, stopped, I'm not sure. Let's listen.

SPEAKER_51

Housing and urban development will no longer pay tens of millions of dollars to fund the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, known as Lhasa, while an investigation is underway. According to a 13-page letter first obtained by Fox News, Lhasa has received nearly $1 billion from HUD in taxpayer money since 2021. The letter goes on to quickly point out that Los Angeles County has withdrawn funding for the agency. Indeed, diverting dollars from worthy programs to Lhasa merely makes the homeless crisis worse. By the numbers, $953 million allocated in fiscal year 2025-2026, 43,699 unhoused homeless people in the agency, and approximately 22,000 per person. These are according to agency numbers. Now, Mayor Karen Bass, who's running for another term, says it's a priority. Her critics say she's not done enough in her first term to help people get off the streets into their own homes. And Sandra, I'll end with this. The letter ends with a notice to the agency to request a hearing within 30 days, but threaten criminal or civil penalties of any and for the information in the letter is false. We reached out for Lassa for comment. We've not heard back yet.

SPEAKER_21

Did you hear that? Almost a billion dollars. Hasn't done a damn thing. The homeless population continues to grow. What is that money? Where is it going? It he said it in there. Fraud! And and you're right, on the budget blinds tax line. I would argue we don't send the government the money, they take it from us. Yes! That's true. You're right. They just take it. And if we refuse to file our taxes, what happens? Right. This is this is taxation without representation. We think we keep electing these smart people to keep our best interests at heart, and it doesn't happen that way. The money continues to get wasted. And it's all so many times it's couched in this feel-good program. Well, we need this. No, we don't need this. No, we do not. You know, somebody made the joke, and and I get it, and it's not necessarily a joke, but listen, this is gonna sound rude. So you if you're gonna be offended, you well, first you're listening to the wrong show to begin with, and B, I ain't apologizing. I'm just pointing this out. It is extreme, it's absurd to point out the absurdity. But somebody had made the the comment online and I saw it, and I was like, uh look at that. Instead of giving people basically blank checks to go buy the garbage that they buy on the Snap programs, just give them what they need, and that's it. Rice, beans, bread. See how fast they get off their bus to go get a real job. I'm talking about the people who are abusing the system, but not the people who actually maybe need a little assistance. You know, the poor single mom who's you know got a couple of kids and the dirtbag dad who left with a secretary. Well, in that case, yeah, we need to help them. But charity was never supposed to be from the government. They've blown through our social security, enriching themselves. They being the government. I didn't get to what I want to get to. Uh I'll mention it and then I've got a shorter clip, but uh A. G. Blanche mentioned new indictments against three illegals that were accused of child trafficking. They found 146,000 of the kids so far, but there's so many that have gone missing. And this is during the last administration in the open borders when they said it wasn't open. Uh-huh. And they said, Well, I we need an act of Congress to close them. And then Trump gets in and closes it because it turns out all he needed was a new president. So I'm gonna play this l this shortened clip. I just gave you the background on it, and then it moves to Secretary Mark Wayne Mullins. This is alarming, and this this should just shake you to your very core that this was going on during the last administration, and they did nothing. They knew it. Mayorcas and the rest of them. They all knew it was going on. There were whistleblowers that were reporting it. We played some of the clips, totally ignored by the mainstream media. This was happening to children. Listen.

SPEAKER_48

We're investigating reports to where some of these kids claim that they were raped six to seven hundred times. What? I don't care who you are. I don't care if you have kids, if you don't have kids, I don't care if you're a liberal, you're independent, you're a Democrat, you're a Republican. If you can't stand for law enforcement to go find these kids, who are you? Yes. Who are you?

SPEAKER_21

You want to stand there on your soapbox and scream, this administration is taking away all our rights, and look at those poor people. Can't get into the country to have a better life. No. We tried it your way for four years of the wide open border, giving everybody a cell phone and a paycheck and treating them better than we treat our own veterans, our own people, our own citizens who were born here. Meanwhile, under the cover of darkness, with child sponsors trafficking hundreds of thousands of children and doing what he said, and I don't even want to say it, to what he was doing with those children, what they were doing with those children. And we only out of I don't remember the total. Shame on me for not remembering the total. It was hundreds of thousands more of these missing kids, but we found another 146,000, thankfully. And busted three illegals. In other words, we're born here to begin with, selling their own kind, if you will, wherever they're from, child trafficking. And yes, I know there's a market for it here in the United States, and that also is disgusting. I realize that. But these blue-haired screaming idiots in the streets, we're being rude to our elite No. Don't call them illegals. Yes. Andy Hazel. I got mad when I heard Mark Wayne Mullen saying what he said about those children. It should make everybody mad. Alright, we'll try to have a little fun with uh Andy Hazel. Up next.

SPEAKER_27

And in equity markets, the deficiencies investor average was from 929 points to 50,348. And that's a composite index released 640 points to 2589. And the SP 500 was of 127 points to 7394. SPEAKER_21

All right. We get to talk sports because we have a little extra time. I know that that's a passion of yours, especially Clemson Sports, but we're not going to talk Clemson. We're going to talk CCU. They got themselves a new baseball coach. What do you know about this guy?

SPEAKER_27

Uh he's from Mississippi State, I believe. They led him to a uh led them to a national championship. I thought it I think it's a great hire.

SPEAKER_21

Okay. All right. Excellent. Uh, are you interested in the uh the FIFA World Cup thing going on?

SPEAKER_27

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_21

Okay, so we got a game, what, tonight at nine, I believe? Nine o'clock, yeah. All right, so any predictions there with uh who is it, Paraguay, I think, is the opponent?

SPEAKER_27

Yep, I think the U.S. wins 2-0.

SPEAKER_21

Oh, wow. You're getting right on that. I like it. What do you have plans for this weekend? Uh no way you're going golfing in this heat.

SPEAKER_27

Not a whole lot. Just probably watching some watching some soccer and college baseball, and that's about it.

SPEAKER_21

All right, very good. All right, what you got for a joke, Andy?

SPEAKER_27

Why do we dress baby boys in blue and baby girls in pink?

SPEAKER_21

Um, I don't even think I'm gonna come up with anything that's even gonna be close. Okay, why?

SPEAKER_27

Because they can't dress themselves.

SPEAKER_39

Oh, for peace's sake!

SPEAKER_21

See, I was trying to get too into it, like, okay, pink lewd. Yeah, all right. Uh today is magic day. Did you know that? I did not. Okay, so this one's kind of up your alley. You ready? Here we go. What's the difference between a magician and a savings bond?

SPEAKER_27

Oh, wow. I have no idea.

SPEAKER_21

Uh a savings bond will eventually mature and earn money.

SPEAKER_27

That was a good one.

SPEAKER_21

I know, I cracked myself up. All right. Well, you you have yourself a great weekend. Uh, we'll be back, we'll get the band back together on Monday. Lizzie will be back in, and we'll talk to you then, sir. Sounds good. Y'all have a great weekend. All right, you too. Andy Hazel, Edward Jones, thank you very much. You know, I didn't get uh I didn't get Andy's mom texting in this morning yet. Usually she uh she's on top of that stuff. Oh well. All right. Uh what is it? The Duke of Windsor changed the male and female colors, really? Oh. Oh, I get what you're saying, said hilarious. Woohoo! We're in the home stretch now, baby. So we were supposed to have a guest on that uh, I don't know, forgot to call, failed on me. I don't know. I I don't know. I didn't get the call. So here I'm sitting here with my thumb up my butt going, what should we do now? And I was thinking something Liz and I did a while back, and it was a lot of fun. So for those of you that are participating on the Budget Blinds text line, and you maybe don't know the number because you haven't really thought, well, maybe I should text in. I'll give you the number. It's 843-798 TALK. If you want to ask me a question, just one question. Keep it short and simple. One question, whatever it is, any topic, any subject, no matter what it is, ask something about band-aid, something about how I got in radio. Uh, do I really love Lizzie? Something about my kids, something about politics, something about anything, no matter what it is. Fire off that text. Let's do it. We'll just uh we'll do like the one text line. We'll just do it for a little bit. See if this uh this individual is is planning on calling me. I think we'll have some fun. I can answer your questions and we'll have some fun with it. Budget Blind's text line is wide open. 843-798 TALK. What do we got? What do we got? Oh, that's not a question, but I I'll say hi right back to you, George the Cemetery guy. It only works till noon on Fridays because oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's that's nice for you. I I I'm I'm here every day. Sometimes on the weekend. Uh what is my favorite memory of my dad from Lisa the Football Mom? Wow. There are so many, and I I you know, I think I tr I think about them almost every day, especially when I go upstairs in my music room. I got my little music studio up there, and and I've got some pictures and some great things that he gave me that I have up on the wall. Um that's really hard to to nail down into one. Okay. All the great times that we had, that's that's wonderful. But I think my one of my favorite memories involving my dad would have to be this is after he passed. And and I I was told by my stepmom, because he got remarried, but he he divorced my mom when we were in our late teens. Like I think I was I just got back from the military, so I was maybe 20. And they got a divorce, and it's you know, it's painful and all that. But so then he remarried years later, and she had sent me a message saying, You really need to come. And I was like, Okay, I'll be there. I got I hopped on a plane, uh, we were living down here, obviously. And I went up there and and spent some time with him. We just talked for, you know, both afternoons I was there, and he he was tired, and and he was just I didn't see that it was towards the end, but maybe I didn't want to see it. And I remember saying goodbye to him, and I I told him I loved him and said he's the best dad any son could ever ask, and he said thank you. And he looked up at me and said, Thank you. I gave him a hug and I left. And I remember getting back home. And this was really hard. Lisa, why'd you have to do this to me? And I got the call saying that he'd passed, and and I remember my stepmom saying he was just waiting for you. So then I go back. This is the part that I'm trying to get to, but I had to give a little backstory. Uh, he used to pick on me because my dad was a Marine. And he used to pick on me for for joining up in the United States Army. You know, the typical jokes, the service jokes that we all rib each other. Oh, Marine, you know, did they give you crayons, you know, and then army, oh, did you, you know, all that stuff. And I always thought, maybe in the back of my mind, he wasn't as proud of me, or maybe disappointed because I didn't join up with the Marine Corps like he did, but hearing his stories and knowing the kind of guy that my dad was, he's the big bruiser kind of guy, you know, six foot four and just huge. I don't know what happened to me. I'm short like my mom, I guess. So I in the back of my mind I thought maybe he wasn't really proud of me, but then I went down in his like den. He had like a little music studio too, except he didn't play instruments, but you know, all his music memorabilia and all his CDs and albums and his awesome stereo system and all his little stuff that you know he had. There was a picture of me, an old picture, basic training graduation photo, holding my M16 with the flag behind us and me and my fatigues. And I thought to myself, he was proud of me. Because if he wouldn't, he wouldn't have had that picture up, you know? So out of all the fun times I had with my dad, all the concerts he took me to, as a matter of fact, he saw this article in Rolling Stone, which you have to remember his generation, Rolling Stone was a cool magazine when it hit in the late 60s. And he agreed that it would turn to nothing but trash, but he still got it just because he would read articles about, you know, his favorite bands and stuff. And and one of them was a a checklist to do with your kids. And uh, you know, if you were his and he's you know, he's a boomer, baby boomer, and one of the uh the things on the on the checklist was take your kid to a Rolling Stones concert. So one day out of the blue, I was an adult. He just said, Hey, what are you doing on whatever day it was? And one of our favorite places to go watch concerts was Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Great outdoor theater. Great. And I said, Well, uh, on whatever day it was, I I don't, I think it was a weekday. And he goes, You wanna go to a concert with me? I was like, heck yeah, where are we going? Alpine Valley. I was like, even better. Who are we gonna see? He goes, Ah, surprise. So we get in the car and he hands me the tickets. Rolling Stones tickets opening band, living color. Remember that band, Cult of Personality? Yeah. I was like, wow. And I said, What made you think of this? He goes, Oh, it's on this checklist of things that you gotta do with your kids. I'm like, that's why. He's just he's he's goofy that way. So anyway, uh seeing my my basic training graduation photo up on his uh Den wall, if you will, that was probably my favorite memory. What's the best beer made locally? I don't know. I I I'm not familiar with local beers here. I and to be honest with you, my wife and I were talking about this not too long ago. It's like ever since our first child was born seven and a half years ago, we don't really hardly drink anything anymore. And it's not like we made a conscious effort or either one of us had a problem drinking. It was just like, okay, well, now we got kids. So it's it's rare. She's currently now with the new baby breastfeeding, so she's not even drinking anything. I can't tell you the last time I had a cocktail or a drink or a beer. I don't know. I think I'm the wrong guy to ask. Uh, Carol Jean, not asking me a question, but wants to know if I would toss this out there. Almost forgot to ask you, announce our monthly Catholics for Freedom of Religion, Rosary for America this Sunday, June 14th, Flag Day, 3 p.m. Warburg Park. Bring your folding chairs, flags provided. All right. There you go, Carol Jean. Happy to pass that along to you. Uh, hey, Echo 5 has an answer for the person asking me what's the best beer made locally. It's Grand Strand Brewing. Okay. I don't I I'll trust you on that one. I don't know. Uh, let's see. Can I play Almond Brothers live at the Fillmore East? You mean can I play it like with my guitar? That's not something I ever tried to learn, I would imagine. I'm usually not afraid to tackle anything, uh, even the difficult, like an Engve Molmstein, who that guy is pretty technical, or a Steve Vai or Joe Satriani, those guys can get really difficult to uh to replicate the way they play. But uh yeah, I'm not afraid to try it. Let's see. What is your everyday carry? Mine is a signed 365 macro 17 plus 19 millimeter. Uh I don't have an everyday carry, but I also have a 9mm at the home. Uh what else do we have? I'm running through these things. Let's see. How much do you love being a father? That's from Kevin. How much do I love being a father? Greatest thing ever. Honestly. We're doing the I'm doing like a one text line thing because I didn't have my guest call in, so I'm just answering random texts on our budget blinds text line. Uh I have to say, I mean, I thought the greatest thing ever was being on stage and playing with my band and almost making it. You know, we didn't make it make it, of course, but it was a lot of fun. And then all of a sudden, my wife's pregnant and her giving birth during a hurricane. We had to evacuate. I mean, it was the most surreal and incredible experience. And now that I'm a dad of two girls, it's like, what am I gonna do with these women? You know, that's the first thing I think of because I'm a dude, you know. There's no guys in the house, and my dad's gone, so what am I gonna do? But I I'm enjoying it with uh my daughters. I'm enjoying it more than you'll ever know. It's it is incredible, and you're right, Kevin. It is one of the greatest things ever. All right, what else? Let's let's cruise along here. Uh-pa-ba. My kids are such a gift. Yep, drives you crazy. Oh, I agree. I agree. Do I play slide guitar? I've dabbled in it. That's James from Myrtle Beach. Um, Dwayne Allman, yeah. I mean, I would not call myself very proficient at slide. The kind of music I grew up with was more hard rock. There wasn't a whole lot of slide in it. I have dabbled with it, and there's something called a rocket slide, which is pretty cool. You wear it on your you don't hold it like a traditional slide, but you uh you kind of slip it over like your ring finger. I have to take my wedding ring off to do it. And I would use it when I would play with the band here locally on a couple of songs, one being Montrose, uh Bad Motor Scooter. He uses a slide in that, which is funny because when you see him play live, he doesn't. But in the studio, he's using a slide. So yeah. Do I give guitar lessons? No, not really. I'm not a great teacher. I mean, you know. Uh let's see. Can you remind listeners about the flag retirement box at the Warbird Memorial Park? Well, Julie, I just did. And that was created by your son Brady. Yes. Awesome. What else do I have? What year, and if you remember the song that you really started to appreciate music. It's funny you ask that. I was exposed to rock. My dad was all over the place. He preferred rock, but he he listened to all kinds of stuff. Blues and, you know, he listened to Americana. He was a big fan of that. He gifted me in his passing his entire CD collection. I've got so many CDs I don't even know, I don't even think I've gone through them all. Uh I have a little bit, and I've picked out a few that it's like, oh, I don't have that one. I want to keep it. There's I don't even know what I'm gonna do with all those CDs. There's some stuff in there I gotta be honest with you, I'm never gonna listen to. Because, you know, but the hard rock stuff, yeah. But the first song I really remember going, yeah, yeah, would have to be a whole lot of love from Led Zeppelin. And it was, I mean, I was young, but I remember my dad putting that thing on. We would have our listening sessions. He would, he would all through my whole years as a child and growing up, teenager, he brought home the coolest stuff, and he would make me a tape. Remember, make mixtapes and stuff? He would make me a cassette of of uh of like the hottest new band, and I'd bring it to school, and people like, whoa, that is and then we'd like months later, that band would be huge, like Megadeth as an example. But yeah, it would have to be Led Zeppelin. Uh, let's see. What do you know about low energy Bluetooth coming to public venues in terms of listening with your personal headphones? That is new. I'm not I'd have to say I'm not familiar with that. Huh. That's interesting. I I would have to to to look into that. Any recommendations for a 53-year-old who once tried a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away for guitar lessons? Okay. Uh it is harder, I've been told. And I guess I can identify with that. The older you get, the harder it is to learn new things. I mean, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, and there's there's truth to that. Because when I try to learn something new, it does take me a little longer than like when I was a kid. You know, when you're a kid, you just you're like a sponge, and it just sits with you. And I've noticed that things that I learned when I was younger, I almost never forget. But like when, for example, when I was playing an 85 overdrive back, you know, really until I became a full-time dad, and I just didn't have time to to be in a in a band anymore. But uh, all those songs I learned, I bet you I forgot all of them already. They just never stuck with me. Maybe a couple here or there, a couple parts. So repetition. Because the first thing you have to get over the hump with if you're learning to play guitar is the dexterity. Being able to to you know get your hands to do what they want to do, and then it then it becomes a muscle memory thing. And start slow, don't ever speed up. Slow, slow, slow. And then just work through it, and then eventually you'll realize one day, wow, I can actually play this. And then when you start learning your songs, just repetition. It's all repetition, always. Um what kiss tour was my first? Mad Dog wants to know. Well, my dad took me, speaking of my dad. Uh I was supposed to see the final tour in makeup, Creatures of the Night. And I got bad grades that year, so he didn't take me. And then let me tell you, the next time I had an opportunity to go see him was during the Animalize tour, so that was 1984. I got good greats. And it was he took me to a couple kids shows. Wasp was the opening act. How about that? Steve Howe, how do you rate him as a guitar player? He's great. And I've read a lot of great things about him. I don't I'm not super familiar with his entire catalog, but yeah, Steve Howe, great guitar player. What else do we have? Kenny, thank you for the kind words. I appreciate that. What else do we got? Am I caught up? Doing a great job, solo say Frosty. Thanks, Kenny. I think am I caught up? Let's see. We would like to hear a vocal edition. We have a show. Oh, anyone would like to hear a vocal uh edition? We have a show on Friday at the 7 p.m. St. James Catholic Church. That's uh 1071 Academy Drive and Conway. Huge patriotic set. Well there you go, James. And James, I've heard you sing. You're an excellent singer. So that's uh that's uh yeah. Uh dexterity will be an issue, says the 53-year-old that wants to learn play guitar. Well, then I would probably not worry about trying to pull off any complex lead playing, and I would maybe just stick to like strumming. You can, even though you got old fingers, unless you're hampered by something as as horrific as as some sort of you know injury or arthritis. But I mean if your fingers still work I would I would focus on playing acoustic guitar. Get yourself an acoustic guitar with really easy action, which means it's really easy to play. Get maybe if they recommend like a gauge 12 or 13 for string, maybe even drop it down to an 11, you'll notice it's easier to press those strings down. And and I think uh I think you'll be okay. Just work on your chords. You stay on like from the fifth fret all the way up to where you tune your guitar, you spend most of your time there. And it's it's actually not as complic complicated as as you might think. I think you'd be alright. Uh do you do you and uh and Nicolina like to fish? We have gone fishing, I have taken her fishing through a good friend of mine, Anthony, uh, and she loved it. And she does have uh some fishing stuff, some tackle and a couple of poles. And then uh I've got myself a pole that was gifted to me, so we have not gone in a while. Uh but uh dirtman Dave said he's he'd like to take us fishing in Merle's Inlet sometime. Yes, that sounds amazing, and my daughter would absolutely love it. All right, there we go. Had some fun. You're in the one text line. You guys asked a lot of questions. Lisa, you really got me with the dad question, but uh it was a good memory, so thank you. I I really appreciate that. Happy Friday. It's 9 24. I don't want to get too too late here because then I'll be guilty of what I accuse Liz of, and that's being late all the time.

This is a breaking news alert, a late development in the Republican primary for South Carolina governor. Conservatives are raising serious questions about Pamela Evett's record. Pamela Evitt made millions selling DEI training programs to woke corporations and shipped jobs overseas. Now, South Carolina Republicans are mobilizing behind Attorney General Alan Wilson. SPEAKER_21

All right. Thanks for hanging with me as we did that impromptu uh one question or one text line. I did have another question. Somebody had asked, is that all you do is play heavy metal?

SPEAKER_40

Is that all?

SPEAKER_21

And uh, no, actually. Interestingly enough, uh, while that's my favorite music, you know, I mean it's just it's got the most complex guitar. Well, that and jazz. And speaking of, uh, I used to be a jazz player in school. That's where I learned to really understand music and and how to approach it. And uh Mr. Debke was our jazz band leader. And he even gave me a solo, and of course I didn't do a jazz style, I did it, you know. Lady Van Halen style. Somewhere I have that cassette tape. So, no, it's that's not the only thing that you know I play. I like to try to branch out and do different things. I really want to learn how to do some really good country chicken picking. You know what I mean? And I know some players around here, around the area, that are really phenomenal at it. And I'd love to be able to master that. I think it'd just be so cool. It's a challenge. So no, that's not the only music I enjoy uh playing. I I do I I probably play it the most because I have the most experience with it, the hard rock, you know, hard rock blues style into heavy metal. That's kind of like my thing as far as you know, guitar stuff, but I have written songs on acoustic as well. And uh and and I found those to be also as enjoyable. Um somebody asked, did I ever did my band back in the day, Dizzy Lane, that might be a professional band, not local bar band, did we ever have any music videos? We did. And it never the band uh kind of blew up, you know, the music industry was changing, and it just, you know, it was one of those things, bad timing. Uh somewhere out there there is a video. And I remember part of uh what what was used for the video was a live studio performance of us playing in a TV station. It was one of those things where like you when you had to promote your r albums, CDs, you know, you would take any promotion, including getting up at three in the morning. Who knew I'd be doing that for a living? Getting up at two in the morning, but we had to get up at three in the morning and go load up into a TV station and do an interview, and we did a couple of songs, and that's actually that coincided with us doing a live performance at the uh at a big event where we opened up for a North Carolina band. This was all the way up in Wisconsin, and that band was named Firehouse. Yeah. So we we opened up a show, uh, two shows, I believe, with the Firehouse. Great guys. I got to Bill Leverty. Uh uh, he's really the only member I actually spoke to. He wouldn't remember. It was just another long-haired dude in some band that was opening up for his band, and they were pretty big at the time. But nevertheless, back to the video thing we did, and the second part of the question was what was the song? Actually, it goes with the other question. It wasn't a heavy metal song at all. It was kind of a a ballad type thing, although not sappy. Not like slow and boring. It was just an upbeat song that had some really cool open chords in it that my singer at the time and I co-wrote called Um Stay With Me. Here, I'll let you hear a little sample of it. See? I'm not playing heavy metal at all there tonight. So what's funny about that is we played that song in its entirety in the studio, and then when we went to go do this big event, they also had an afternoon show and they had us play it again. So, like the next day, because we were there opening up for Firehouse uh two nights in a row, and we had a lot of people show up thinking that that's the kind of band we were just kind of playing that music, and they were pretty upset that we were more of a hard rocking band that had like one or two songs that sounded like that. Oh, that was hilarious. I mean, one guy's a and they they were you know kind of older, they're like, oh my god. You guys are terrible. Terrible. Uh James, Smartle Beach, yes, that uh vocal edition. They have a show coming up at uh 7 p.m. That is tonight. St. James Catholic Church 1071 Academy Drive in Conway, huge patriotic set. Uh he says thanks for passing it along. He said Nicolina would love it. Yeah, she probably would. She loves music. And so does the baby, the baby, the the new baby. Wow, she's really her ears perk up. She's it's actually kind of funny. We take her to church, uh, and she's sitting in the pew and she hears the music and she starts to sing along with it. I don't know if any of you caught that video that that Liz posted a while back on uh Facebook. It was just me and her, and I'm just playing along on the acoustic, and she's just singing, you know, making all kinds of noises. And she does that in church now with all the music. She just starts singing. It's just it's hilarious. She's six months old and she's already a singer. So look at that. Alright, are we good? Are we caught up on everything? I think so. I'll try to recap. Oh, you did see the video, Jennifer. All right, Jennifer Oric. Yes. You did. It was cute. Yes, Perry Richardson from Conway. That's right. He is now in uh Striper. Dirtman Dave, thank you. Yes, I did know that. I never met the man. It'd be great to interview the guy. Talk to a musician that actually actually made it instead of being a regional thing like my band was. We almost made it. But yeah, I'd love to. Anyone knows Perry Richardson? Haven't called the station sometime. I'd love to talk to him, especially his new role as the bassist in Striper. It'd be great. Great, great player. I've read good things about him, but I never met the man. So thanks, Dirtman Dave. Appreciate it. Local news. I don't want to get too far, but I'm already late. I know. And then I'll try to recap most of what we did this morning for the last segment. More it too. Thanks for hanging with me. I appreciate it.

Roblero is charged with attempted murder. A takedown at a Conway Walgreens after a man allegedly hacked an Amazon account to buy laptops he sent to the store. Ori County deputies say Kevin Baxter used a woman's account to charge six laptops, then shipped them to Walgreens. Baxter showed up to the store on Wednesday only to find deputies waiting for him in the parking lot. He's now charged with identity theft. Police are investigating a shooting at a Verizon store in North Myrtle Beach. It happened Thursday morning during closing hours at the location on Highway 17 North near Gator Hole Plaza. No one was hurt. From the WMBF Newsroom, I'm Lauren Korn.

SPEAKER_21

Yes, Carol Jean, I have not forgotten. Yes, this Sunday, June 14th, also President Trump's birthday. Absolutely. Waiting for me to sing? No. I'm a pretty decent backup singer, but not the greatest lead singer. Know what I mean? Uh today's Superman Day, too. Did you know that? Song is Kryptonite. Get it? See what I did there? Uh all right. So uh recap here, we we had a uh a really great, some great coverage from WIS TV, which is the Columbia Station sister station to local WMBF. Uh covering the uh governor's race and how things stand so far, and I've got a new poll I want to share with you from uh an online pollster, and as I don't know where they get their information from, but they've got over a quarter million followers on X, and they poll all kinds of things. It's called Interactive Polls, that's the account. And I'm really shocked at the where are we standing now as of uh yesterday. Yeah. From uh from interactive polls on the governor's race here in South Carolina. But let's take a listen to the uh the coverage here from WISTV.

SPEAKER_23

Well, the runoff between Lieutenant Governor Pamela Ebbett and Attorney General Alan Wilson. That is heating up tonight as well.

SPEAKER_07

Both candidates vying to be the next governor of South Carolina, but still need to secure the Republican nomination.

SPEAKER_23

Our State House reporter Steven Biddex has more on how this race is intensifying and the jabs the two campaigns are taking at each other.

SPEAKER_02

The gloves are officially off in the gubernatorial Republican primary runoff. The two candidates continue to go at each other, looking for any edge they can to get South Carolinians on their side. Four South Carolina House lawmakers who support Lieutenant Governor Pamela Abbott claim Attorney General Alan Wilson called them in 2024, urging them to vote for James Smith for a circuit judge seat in Richland and Kershaw counties.

SPEAKER_12

And I could not believe somebody that stood for pro-life issues or claimed to would advocate for such a horrible human being that is a completely polar opposite of who I am and what I stand for.

SPEAKER_02

The Wilson campaign fired back, calling Evit's attacks desperate, and saying she is scrambling after conservatives who didn't make the runoff rallied behind Wilson. The campaign says Smith met the legal qualifications and was a safer alternative to the other candidate, who is also a Democrat. Also challenging Evitt over Governor McMaster's appointment of Dr. Brandon Traxler as acting public health director, asking why the administration appointed liberals and Democrats to key positions in government. At the time of the appointment, Evit said Traxler would not. Have been her pick. The race is intensifying, and this is far from the only flashpoint. The June 23rd runoff is less than two weeks away. And on Wednesday, both candidates went on the offense, taking direct shots at the other.

SPEAKER_43

I'm the only one sitting in that lane because my opponent right now is a career politician. And so if people were looking for something new and something different and somebody to bring the private sector experience into government, well, then I'm the clear choice.

SPEAKER_06

I do not expect this job interview to be easy. You know, there are people in this race who expect to be coordinated. There are people in this race who expect people just to flop to them because of their endorsements and things like that. I'm going to you say, I am your employee. Put me to work.

SPEAKER_02

Both candidates do support judicial reform and moving more judge appointment power to the governor's office compared to the legislative heavy process that we have now. Evit Ann Wilson will face off in a debate on June 16th at Coastal Carolina University. Reporting at the State House, I'm Stephen Biddicks.

SPEAKER_21

Yeah, that's uh next Tuesday. Liz and I really want to go. Uh, not to be disruptive. Come on, we're adults, but we want to go and just just watch. And, you know, she's got a different set of eyes than me in the sense that she looks at things differently than I do. And then, you know, if we were able to watch this thing together, we can come on the air and talk about the different things that caught our attention individually. You know what I mean? Uh, I don't know if we're gonna be able to swing that. I I I don't I I don't think they'd grant us a press pass. Wait, is that say Liz Calloway and Nick Summers? No, they're not allowed here. So I've been following this this uh uh this online thing. It's on X, it's on Twitter, and it's called Interactive Polls, and I think I've been following them for a while, and there's a lot of pretty big name people that follow this thing. Because you can click on followers, right? And it's really interesting from a couple of days ago, here's the South Carolina governor runoff. Again, this isn't this is a couple days old, but still, they've got Alan Wilson at 48% and Pamela Evit at 29%. I don't know if that's accurate, but that's even if it's within the margin of error, I don't know what the sample size is, but wow, that's pretty that's big. That's a big gap. Things could change between now you have the debate that could shake some voters loose of where they want to go. But Liz and I also commented about this that and again, we're just dealing in facts here. I'm not slamming one candidate or the other. But facts are facts. She didn't get 30% of the vote in South Carolina. 70% was either undecided or went elsewhere. You add up all the other individuals, and it was pushing 60 plus percent. So 60 plus percent who voted wanted somebody different. Now, does that translate automatically to Wilson? No, he didn't, he didn't even get 25%. So we're just dealing in numbers and facts, no emotion. I'm not endorsing either one, I'm just saying numbers and facts, neither one of them could could pull off enough. So again, does that mean that he automatically gets all the rest of those votes, the 60 plus percent? No. Almost 70%? No, not at all. But even if he got half and keeps what he had, but you could say the same for Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evet. Even if she keeps what she has and gets half of those people that were floating around out there, either the undecided or you know, the Romreedi people or whoever, then you have to factor in the fact that we have what? Open primaries. How many people are crossing over to mess with the system? We know it happens. We we see it. You can see it on social media. People say, I voted, I voted for this one because you know. They brag about it. It's legal. What's to hide? And we got somebody who said, uh, I voted for Wilson. Okay, well, I would imagine that your vote's gonna be the same for the runoff, which will be coming up on the 23rd. We have that one debate on the 16th. Do you feel, budget blind texters, do you feel the debate could sway you? If you're an undecided, or perhaps you were a Rom Reddy person or Ralph Norman, you know, do you feel that, hey, even Kimbrell, you have to remember Kimbrell, too. He was in there. He had some support, not a lot, but he had some. Very little. So you've got enough people out there that are either undecided or really wanted somebody else. Does that change after the debate? There are people that still, and they communicate with us, uh, and many of you on the budget blinds text line, that you feel that both of them are just establishment. It's just, yeah. Same old, same old. Yeah, you have somebody who's been there for the last eight plus years, and you've got somebody who's been in politics for 16. Not in that role as attorney general. He's got a decent track record, some would say. Some would say it's not strong enough. Wilson, that is. So again, does it change your vote? Will it change your vote? What what what do you have here? Oh, I see. Okay. This person was just Yeah. I got you, Robert. No problem. So I'm I'm curious as is how many people are gonna I really I I encourage you. I encourage you to watch the debate and not just the sound bites. Because you only get half the the picture there. You've gotta watch the whole thing, how they respond, how they how they interact with the other person, how they interact with the moderators or moderator. I'm not sure what we're getting. I think it's just one, I think. All of that is important. You know, people always act different in a public setting. But these people, specifically speaking, Pamela Evit and uh Alan Wilson, they're used to dealing with the public. So, you know, that whole unsure of themselves, maybe the little bit of the butterflies, and the you know, it might be there a little bit with the debate, but they're gonna be settled down and you're gonna see a pretty good representation of who they are. And you should be able to tell if that person's telling the truth. You know, there's always those the body language is important. That's something that Liz pays attention to a lot that I didn't really you know how where they where they dart their eyes when they answer questions. I mean, that is all it's a it's a tell. It's not a uh an exact science, but it's a tell. Uh one person said, My concern is Republicans are turned off and a Democrat wins. I I feel that concern, but I I don't think that's gonna happen here and say I don't I hope. Maybe it's more of a hope than an actual, you know, convinced that it's it's yeah, I don't I don't see a Democrat winning. I'm looking at who the Democrat is, I don't believe it. I think he's just too extreme, and that's I just don't think South Carolina would want anything to do with that. I mean, I know we've we vote rhinos in all the time, but this guy is way further left of even a rhino. Uh my reason uh for Wilson's vote was Second Amendment related. He is strong in that category. That's great. If that again, if that's that's where you, you know, that's important to you, then yes. Then you then absolutely. But I'll reiterate. I'm still kind of a open kind of I I I want to watch the debate. I want to see, you know, Liz and I were honest. We voted for Rom Reddy because we wanted to do the rebel vote, the rogue vote. Just to, you know, why not? Stick it to the system. Put this guy in there and let him go loose. But it didn't happen. So we're we're we get uh Pamela Evan, who's been a regular guest of the show, giving us her Columbia updates. Very nice lady, and Alan Wilson we've had on a couple of times. It's been a while. I wonder if we'll get interviews with them leading up to this runoff on the 23rd of this month. But we're both gonna go into this with eyes wide open for the debate. And I think you should too. You want to change your vote? Says one texter. Well, oh, it won't change your vote. Okay, I get you. I got you. It won't change your vote. So you're you're you're settled. Okay. Fair enough. I'm gonna watch it and we'll see. I mean, we have to look past the scripted answers. You know, the typical politician type answers. You gotta look past that. You gotta see how they answer, how quickly they answer, the conviction behind the answer, how they interact with one another, you know, who's defensive, who's not, the body language, all of that is telling. And then I it should give you a better idea of who or what you're gonna get for our next governor. I truly believe a Republican win will win in November. But it's politics. Who knows? Hey, thanks for hanging with me, keeping me company, appreciate it. Liz and I'll be back together on Monday. Have a great weekend. Hot! Stay cool this weekend. We'll see ya.

SPEAKER_39

Thanks for listening to the Liz Calaway Show with Nick Summer. Plan Beck is up next on Talk 94.5 106.7. Talk for the entire grand strand.

Suncoast Building Products and Services is really great at installing gutters, gutter services. They are the experts. Many builders use them. If you want to find out more about what they can do for you, go to Suncoast Buildingproducts.com. You can go to their showroom in Conway. The Hill family has been doing this for more than 25 years. They are awesome people. If your gutters are not pitched properly, the water backs up, if they're clogged, they can come and clean them, even install those leaf guards so that'll stop the clogging from happening from all that debris uh blowing around from the storms. I've never seen so many leaves, right? Well, you know, that could really wreak havoc in your foundation, your flower beds, uh, you know, even in the walls. I mean, I once had a problem where the gutters clog up and then the water comes into the house from the ceiling. Oh yeah. I was like, is it like raining in the living room? Yes, it was raining in the living room. Uh, if you want to find out more and prevent disasters like that, go to Senco's Buildingproducts.com.
