I think today is the last day of uh early voting. And if you don't vote today, I think maybe tomorrow there's voting. Well, Adam Morgan might know. Let's ask him. He's the lieutenant governor candidate on the Ralph Norman ticket. Good morning, Adam.
SPEAKER_00Good morning. Thanks for having me on.
SPEAKER_01Thanks for coming back on. So congratulations and being brought on to the uh Ralph Norman ticket. That's pretty exciting news.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, quite a change from last time I talked to you guys. I know. Yeah, that was quite a quite a shocker for me. Uh but I you know we've we've hit the ground running. He asked last Friday, and I said, Are you sure? Early voting already started. But that's all right. So we've we've been all over the state already, and I I think I told you I'll have three kids under eight. So uh an un unplanned statewide campaign has been interesting, and we we just caught a frog yesterday, then we lost the frog in the car. Uh thankfully they're gonna be. What are you talking about? It's hilarious. We were at we were at a random restaurant, my kids got bored because you know they have to sit around and listen to these political speeches, and they caught a frog, didn't tell me, put it in a plastic star foam cup, took it in the car. We're driving down the interstate, and they're like, oh no, he got away. We're like, wait, who got away? What? Anyway, so I it gave me a great lead in though the next uh when I was giving a stub speech at the next thing, I told the story and said, but it's okay, because I'm dealing I I'm used to dealing with slimy swamp creatures. And of course everybody got a good laugh. But uh anyway, it it's keeping us busy. But you know, I I jumped in this because Ralph Norman, he's the real deal. I I served for six years in the legislature. I was founder of the uh South Carolina Freedom Caucus. We fought every day on every issue. We're the ones that shut down the pediatric transgender clinic that was being funded with our state tax dollars, seeing kids six years old to fourteen and giving them you know puberty blockers and and counseling and referring them to surger surgeons. We're the ones that uh blocked the attempt to expand licensure for illegal immigrants in this state to take more uh South Carolinian jobs. And the list goes on and on. And we sued school districts to get CRT out of them when Alan Wilson wouldn't step in and enforce his own law. Uh, we had to file a suit and we got it removed. So we fought every day in the state house. The reality is it was all Ralph Norman's idea. He and Jim Demend are the ones that came and pitched it to be in the other conservatives and said, hey, look, y'all need to get more organized. We we can have a bold vision for this state, uh, show up and fight every day like we do in Congress, because he's the leader of the uh Congressional Freedom Caucus. And so he's he's been there and done it, and and that's why I joined the ticket. I'm excited. I think we have a strong uh chance at a real conservative visionary leader like Ron DeSantis, and that's Ralph Norman, if that's what you want.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's very interesting a way to put it. Um, and because of, you know, a lot of people don't realize that about Ralph Norman. They kind of uh know him as a congressman right now. And so when you think about the grassroots part of the Freedom Caucus and if that's what you're looking for. Now, some people when we interview um candidates and and uh we ask them, because on our budget lines text on we often get that question ask them if they are on the Freedom Caucus. Um it's kind of the litmus task. A lot of the candidates say, oh no, I'm not joining that caucus. Why do you think some people, some candidates and some politicians that are local in uh in our local um uh faction here in Orion, Georgetown County, shy away from the Freedom Caucus?
SPEAKER_00Uh lobbied interests. That that is the answer. People, you know, the lobbyists uh detest the freedom caucus. In fact, we broke records the last cycle. They spent over a million dollars trying to unseat 15 legislators. Uh state legislators. That's unheard of in South Carolina, really unheard of uh in the nation. Because they were in the Freedom Caucus? Oh, yeah. Well, because we actually vote no on the budget. You know, we expose the fact that they've spent money on climate change research and on uh drag queen shows and uh for entire DEI agencies. We actually put the amendments on the budget to cut all the DEI from the colleges and universities. Uh I mean we like we hit them every single day, and those lobbied interests, they got a lot of money. We opposed the scout deal and the $1.3 billion giveaway. We've we killed the what's happened with that. I know, they want more money, and they moved their their headquarters to Charlotte. Look at that. But we we killed a commerce flush fund. They had this a huge amount of money they want to just put and let uh bureaucrats dole out our tax dollars to random companies that might come here. And aren't you sick of them giving away the farm to people that don't live here when they never do anything for businesses and people who live here? In fact, they killed the Trump tax cuts this year. They said, no, we're not gonna give you no tax on tips and no tax on social security and the child tax credit. Yeah, and they killed redistricting, and then these are all supposed Republicans. So why are they not in the Freedom Caucus? Because we actually fight on every issue. And they don't they they're terrified of that. They know that they'll get money spent against them and they won't get the cushy appointments, and and everybody in Columbia will hate them, which which is true. But you know what? If you sign up to fight for the people and you're actually there to represent, like that's what you should do. You ha your your state uh is is at risk. I mean, are you do you care about your kids' future? Do you want to go the way of Colorado or or uh Georgia or even uh your California who have already gone liberal? Like we're we're close to that. We're the fastest growing state in the nation. Everybody wants to come here, so we better make sure we're we're setting the table for a state that is free, that that defends your liberties, that doesn't have a culture that's uh indoctrinating kids. Uh we got a great state to fight for it, and that's why I'm in it. I know that's why Ralph's in it. He's done it in Congress. He was rated the most conservative uh m member last year in Congress, and he's got this great list of accomplishments, he's got strong executive leadership, and that is the difference between him and all of these other people running. All of them, every election season or come uh primary time, they all get real conservative and start making all sorts of promises. But if you look at the track record, they almost never fight for you. They're they're always letting us down, or even leading, I mean, you Pam of that is leading the opposition to the conservatives. And then Alan Wilson, I mean, unless you back him into a corner and and pressure him, he he never does anything. Wait, just not what we need.
SPEAKER_01What do you mean leading the opposition to conservatives? What does that mean?
SPEAKER_00Oh, pa oh, Pam Pamavet's budget, the executive budget they put out is what's funding all the woke junk that the Freedom Caucus has to has to fight. I mean, we offered uh this year there was five hundred million dollars of cuts that the Freedom Caucus tried to get out of the budget, which by the way, would have paid for the Trump tax cuts. It was about 500 million. But they said they couldn't afford to give you the Trump Trump tax cuts because hey, you know what? Those drag queen money and the climate change research, that was way more important. They had to fund that and the lesbian podcast and all the other just trashness in the budget. That's Pam's uh budget. And she was openly hostile against people opposing the Scout Motors deal. And so if you look issue by issue, uh, you know, she's been right there with the government. I mean, the traxter appointment, you know, she's trying to di distance herself. That's her administration. She's the lieutenant governor, it's the McMaster of Ed administration. So and and they appointed a rabid Biden donating uh person who called for Trump's impeachment who botched the last pandemic and pushed vaccine mandates and shutdowns, and that's who he puts as uh as a powerful administrative and regulatory head. That that's just it's it's absolutely um indefensible. And if you look at people say, okay, well, that that was a bad appointment, but you know, we've got a lot of bad appointments in South Carolina. What what what would Ralph do? And I say, guys, Ralph just picked me as his running mate. His first election was the chair of the Freedom Caucus. He's gonna put rabid, strong conservatives who are gonna fight for you every day in these appointments, and also I'm gonna make sure of that. I'm the we Jordan Pace, the the current chair, and I are the ones who did the research and found all the the truth about Traxler. We did it in under an hour. Nobody in the governor's office researched her and and even knew she was a uh liberal Biden donor, which is nuts. Like they're just derelict in their duty. I don't those days are over in a Norman Morgan administration.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it um I feel like uh McMaster ran out the clock on purpose on this redistricting and then try to claim that, hey, while I called a special session.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah. After he said he's he said I'm not calling a special session, he was hounded. Then he said, Oh, okay, fine, I'll call it, but I'm not going to push one way or the other.
SPEAKER_01They did that whole broadband thing in the rural areas, and he just looks a little too friendly with them. Do you think that that there's a deal made with the devil over there?
SPEAKER_00Well, that clip of Clyburn on uh what was it, NBC, where he said, Oh, I'm not worried. I'm not worried at all. Uh McMasters, he's fair. And Norman and those Freedom Caucus guys, you know, they're not fair. They're they you know, but you can't but but Norman, he's fair. So yeah, there's there's something going on. There's all the rumors about what happened with why, you know, he switched and Henry Jr. maybe being a bartering chip. Yeah. And that's why he was holding out. Who knows? But at the end of the day, I think South Carolinians are sick of uh what we've got. We we can't afford eight or sixteen more years of crumbling roads, high taxes, rampant wasteful spending, and unplanned, uh unrestrained development all being pushed by uh lobbyists. And and and you know, lobbyists are who these guys work for. They don't work for the people. And and that's why uh Ralph and I are running. I mean, Ralph's been about transparency his entire uh tenure in office. When he was in the state house, it was him and the conservative, uh the three or four other conservative legislators. They're the reason we got the public voting board. I mean, do you remember that fight? We were one of the last states. Yeah, we were one of the last states to have a public voting board where you could actually see in bright red and green. The cult the role calls. That was Ralph Norman. Wow, that's important. That's what changed the state, really. I mean, before there were what, three, four conservatives in the entire legislature, but over time it it turned into ten and then thirteen. The Freedom Caucus formed. Now it's ri it's really over twenty. In the caucus, I think they have like eighteen, but someone took a screenshot.
SPEAKER_01Someone took a screenshot of the voting thing and ex shared it and they got in trouble.
SPEAKER_00Wasn't that something that well that was when all the Freedom Caucus members got kicked out of the Republican caucus? Because they the Republican Caucus tried to pass a rule that you weren't allowed to campaign against any other members in the Republican caucus. But it's a Republican supermajority. So like almost everybody in chamber is is a Republican. And you and what they defined as campaign, the uh the pro tem of the House said you you you should be taking pictures of the public voting board and posting it on social media because it makes people look bad for how they vote. Yeah. We were like, well, sorry, we're gonna continue t taking pictures and sharing it. And yeah, they kicked anybody out that wouldn't sign a pledge to never uh expose their uh fellow Republicans, which is just once again, it's just ludicrous. I know. Yeah, it's everything wrong with the system.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh we're speaking with Lieutenant Governor candidate Adam Adam Morgan. He uh is on the Ralph Norman ticket. If you have any questions or comments, the budget blinds text line is open 843-798-talk 798-8255. Nick, did you have something?
SPEAKER_03Uh we did. We studied that you're gonna be having a hometown rally you're listing it at uh Sunday, June 7th. That'll be at Rock Hill at the warehouse at 6 p.m. Will you have anything local here in the Myrtle Beach area upcoming?
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, it being the last few days, I am in uh we're in the low country today and tomorrow, but I can't the schedule-wise, I don't make it to Myrtle Beach, and I will just tell you my kids are very bitter about that. So I get I will guarantee you that it uh when we make the runoff, if we make the runoff, we will most definitely be uh in Myrtle Beach doing a specific event with Ralph uh in Myrtle. Uh this time I think we we're I think we're in Somerville, Charleston. Uh I we were supposed to go to Myrtle's Inlet. I'm not sure if we're definitely doing that. I know that's that's close, that that's over in that area. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00But um, but yeah, we want to do uh I want to do several events, and I can guarantee you if we make the runoff, my kids will make sure uh we make it to Myrtle. Because that's that was the first question when it was straightwise. Like, are we going to Myrtle Beach? Okay.
SPEAKER_03So uh when when Ralph Norman I think this this happened this happened on Monday because we've played some of the clips with one of the things that he brought up was having the right people in leadership roles within his administration, not paying back favors, people donated all that. And that makes sense like that. That's that's outstanding. Then he mentioned something called the road star, and before he came to he basically said his lieutenant governor is gonna be the road star. So how did that make you feel knowing that you're walking into that?
SPEAKER_00You know, it's it's a big uh task, but I am I'm excited. You know what that so much of the problems with government are because no one's willing to ask the tough questions about what the money's being spent on, not asking for receipts. Uh nor uh Ralph has already said he wants a full forensic audit of every agency. We want to make sure that the uh bidding and contract uh the the way that we're doing bidding, which is one of the biggest issues, we're overpaying uh per mile of uh, you know, of actually per square foot of every um every area that we're la laying, any kind of roads, whether it's maintenance or new roads. And there's so much we can do. We have to make sure we're actually maintaining our current roads instead of just this rush to build and develop and and build new, we've got to make sure we're taking care of the ones that are already there. You know, he jokes that anywhere you drive on these back roads, especially, you need a neck brace. Uh and and that shouldn't be the case. South Carolina, we've got a huge surplus, uh, we've got massive wasteful spending, so we want to cut the budget, we want to do a forensic audit on these um uh on every agency, we want to cut uh all sorts of things there. And another thing I'm excited about is you know, the federal government has has had this amazing decrease in federal employees under the Trump administration. It's been this drain of all this excess of waste and employees because Trump was serious about it. We want to do the same thing with Columbia. I'm sorry, but these agencies are bloated. There's way too much overhead, especially education, but uh uh it in as far as the administrators go, we want more teachers, less administrators. Same thing in the DOT. We know there's waste, we know there's unfilled positions that we're literally just funding in the budget every year. Like those days are over under us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um we, you know, when we s we saw this major arrest go on with illegal um immigrants being hired with fake documents, and it was like a big deal. We saw the uh attorney general who's also running uh for office for governor. Um my question to that is it's like where the hell is this FX?
SPEAKER_02That is the same thing.
SPEAKER_01That is integrity by the word for the factors and we were told that we have to verify that. We don't have any verified. What do you say about that? Because we see a lot of building going on around here. And we we worry that those big companies are funding candidates and politicians so that everyone turns a blind eye so these uh millions of uh of uh homes and get built. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh yeah, I couldn't agree more. You know, I I think the answer is we make South Carolina as inhospitable as possible for an illegal immigrant to live and work here. Uh and and then that's just a fact. If you're gonna live here, follow the law. And if you're not if you're not, if you're if you're you're working around the law and you're breaking the law, we're gonna make it difficult for you to live here. That's the way it should be. Yeah. Because, you know, with illegal immigration, there's so many other issues that come along with that. I mean, if hey, if you're if your entire existence in a place is breaking the law, you think you're gonna really uphold those the other laws? No, you you you just don't. And that and that uh that pans out in in every arena. So I think there's uh a number of things we can do. We can make sure that they're not uh taking public assistance. That's gonna be a big priority of any fraud. We're gonna make it harder for them to be in the school systems, we're gonna make it harder for them uh to get jobs. That was the whole fight with the licensure. Um, and the fact that that was put in a Republican, the pro tem, uh Tommy Pope is the one. It was his bill. It was supposed to be a public safety bill, and in there was this uh sneaky provision in the middle of this thick bill that allowed the expansion of workplace licensure for illegal immigrants. Thankfully, a Freedom Congress member caught it and yeah, and got it cut. And so that's that kind of stuff, we're gonna make sure they don't pass those kind of bills that they want. And by the way, that that was a chamber of commerce push. So you've got to be careful with these local, yeah, you've got to be careful with these local groups that, by the way, the establishment guys like Yvette and Wilson trip over themselves to do anything those groups want. Those guys uh it I'm sorry, but you're coming trying to get exp expansion and licensure for that. Like you there's the door, you can see your see your way out. And and that that's what we've done in the legislature, and we're gonna continue to do the same thing in the state. And and there's a lot more we can do. Uh the DeSantis is the perfect example here, but I want to be I want Norman Morgan to be so good that we're making Florida jealous.
SPEAKER_01All right, there you go. Lieutenant Governor candidate uh Adam Morgan on the Ralph Norman ticket. Thank you so much. We appreciate your time.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for having me on. Good talking to you all.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
