We got individuals in uh Asheville, North Carolina, for example, uh well I personally don't, but uh to have fun camping kids over corporations while my kid sits at home because you canceled school, I burn vacation days. And I was saving it. Right. So why are you using my kids' education as a prop for your politics? That's what I forgive.
SPEAKER_01Forgive me for being stupid. Why are people walking out? I I don't know. I I don't know this story.
SPEAKER_00It's May Day. May Day. It's uh basically it's a Russian holiday.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03So all the communists are marching out. Thank you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Mayday, Mayday means something else to me because uh it was on May 1st of 1984. My dad was working at uh Georgetown Steel and he was uh guiding the train into the mill uh and uh he slipped on some rocks and it cut it uh cut cut his leg off. Oh my gosh. Yeah, so that happened on May Day in uh 1984. So that's always what I think about when May first rolls around.
SPEAKER_03My goodness. Wow, sorry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's had he's had yeah, he's had a uh a prosthesis since then. What um still alive, they were 77 years old and that's amazing. Kicking with one leg, but he's still kicking.
SPEAKER_00So I gotta ask how do you guys celebrate?
SPEAKER_03You celebrate his I mean that must have been some scary, you know. I mean, it is a celebration because he could have survived.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he could have died, so it's a celebration that he survived.
SPEAKER_03It's incredible. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I mean we don't have a party or anything, but I mean, you know. Yeah, we think about it. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, so anyway, so anytime somebody mentions May 1st, that's always what I have to say. And I was supposed to join you last week on on your location thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I sent Nick a uh I sent Nick a um uh a text. Um, I don't know what happened last week, but uh on Friday morning, my uh we let our dog uh go outside and the dog vanished. The dog ate your wallet.
SPEAKER_00Yes, the dog ate your wallet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and then and then my wallet disappeared, so I didn't have a driver's license or a debit card. Still don't have those things. And uh I I can barely see what I'm doing right now because somehow I've developed pink eye. So I'll tell you what, it's been it has been a fun week. Um, the planets are aligned for something.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what.
SPEAKER_01Somebody told me that last Friday. Said something about the planets lining up. Yeah. Um with all this happened. So, yeah, the episode.
SPEAKER_03Tell us, did you get your dog back?
SPEAKER_01No, dog's gone. I don't know where the I don't know where the dog went. We've had him for eight years. We've got two dogs. We've got two dolls. We've got that dog, which I don't even know the breed because uh we just found that dog like eight years ago. He just wandered into the yard.
SPEAKER_02Oh man. Maybe he left.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I guess he the same way he left whatever house he was at eight years ago, he he did it again. Maybe he's gone back to where he was eight years ago. But anyway, so we've got a second dog, a springer spaniel, and he's like 12 years old. And I I give I'll they've been together for like eight years, and I get concerned that this was um this may cause the the Springer to, you know, get in bad health because, you know, depression or sadness or whatever from not not having his companion anymore. I don't know if that happens or not, but I'm concerned about it. You know that is sad. Anyway, and I know you're a dog lover, so yeah. You know, you you you know what I'm feeling.
SPEAKER_03Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_01I feel bad. But anyway, you didn't call me to talk about this one, I don't think. I think you called to talk about Georgetown News.
SPEAKER_03I want to imagine you had like uh a barricaded subject or something.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, that was a little standoff. I don't know all the details about it except what what this police put out, a little standoff. They got the guy. He's uh he was wondering for some charges in Ory County, if I remember right. Um they got him out and he's he's uh I guess a Jay Rubin now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was at the Georgetown Inn.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, and they got him out. The uh the big one, the the big crime that happened uh in our area this week, where we had a woman, uh 29-year-old uh Deanna Hilliard. Uh she was arrested and charged with um, and I'm having to see through my bad eye now, unlawful conduct towards a child resulting in death. Um her 21-month-old uh toddler.
SPEAKER_02What happened?
SPEAKER_01Um all we know is uh the child died from head injury. The autopsy was conducted, it's inconclusive, so they're having to do uh, you know, lab tests, which will take a little while to happen. Uh, but they do know the child died from severe head injury, and um, so the mother's been charged. But she's out of jail under a$75,000 bond. Um she got that bond, so she's out of jail while um now what'll happen is if the lab results come back and it shows, you know, you know, exactly how the child died, she'll be rearrested because the truck will be upgraded then and um and go back to jail. But they could not hold her, you know, without a bond on the charge that they had. Uh, I know a lot of people are upset that she got out on bond, but uh based on the charge that she has right now, they have to set a bond, you know. Um could it have been more? Maybe, you know, but she was able to make the$75,000 bond and uh got out of jail. So we'll see. We're waiting on you know for those lab results and then to see if the uh the charges are upgraded. Uh we don't know how the you know head injury happened, you know. Uh that hasn't been released yet, but um hopefully it's uh it will soon if if it was a uh an a crime, hopefully uh justice will be done. Tw 21 month old child. Yeah. Man. Sickening. Um and we've got another interesting situation. The city of Georgetown is suing the city of Georgetown. Which, you know, the way things are going in Georgetown right now, that's uh not not really surprising. But yeah, a lawsuit lawsuit was filed. Actually, it was an appeal filed uh this week. Uh the city of Georgetown is suing its own uh Board of Appeals. So the the uh the board that hears appeals is getting appealed by the city of Georgetown. Uh what it is, we've got a uh a business on Church Street right next to what was the uh National Guard Armory at one time. Um and it's an accountant's office right now, but there's a big area behind the office that uh they want to uh build some sort of uh residential building back there for for to use uh you know as a uh residential dwelling. Well, the Board of Appeals uh said they could do it. They said, okay, yeah, you can do it. Uh but the city says nope, that goes against our regulations. You can't have but one, you know, building like that on that particular piece of property. So the city is now suing the Board of Appeals because of the Board of Appeals decision, uh trying to get that overturned. Uh and we'll see what happens. But right now, as it stands right now, they could start building. Um you know, they're they're uh behind that behind that office. It's just an interest, you know, it's not it's not all that exciting except the fact that it's the uh city suing the city. You know, you don't hear that that often. But but it's the city of Georgetown. A lot of weird things have been happening in the past uh several months.
SPEAKER_03So it seems like since the new people got voted in, it seems either things are being exposed or things are happening that are odd.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh I think it's a mixture of both. Um you know, uh we've got uh basically uh a new mayor and and three new council members who, you know, are all in a in a learning curve right now, trying to learn how to do everything. And um, you know, so so things have just been very interesting in the city. And uh Don Conley, is that her name? Don uh Brittany, yeah, Don Conley. Brittany Dressel's mom.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um she filed another uh uh filing in court uh this week. You know, she's been trying to uh get anything she can out of her seven hundred million dollar settlement that she got um a few years ago from the uh Raymond Moody estate, whatever that is. And um, you know, she's collected nothing so far because nobody has anything. Well, she did uh somebody did some research and they found a mobile home that is uh the according to the title in Raymond Moody's name. Okay. So that so they filed a uh filing this week. They're gonna get the uh they they want to try to get the mobile home.
SPEAKER_03What about the land it was on?
SPEAKER_01Uh that is not in his name.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01But the the mobile home is is and you know, uh she's saying you know in court documents that you know he did a lot of uh illegal moving around of property and and transferring of property, uh, to to make sure she didn't get anything. But I I I don't know how this slipped through the cracks, but she may get his mobile home if the if the court awards it, it's worth about seventy five hundred dollars.
SPEAKER_03How long is he in jail for?
SPEAKER_01Oh, for life.
SPEAKER_03So what does he need this stuff for?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. But if she gets it, it's worth about seventy five hundred dollars. And that may be about all she gets out of the 700 million.
SPEAKER_03But um when did he start transferring these things? Before after she filed the lawsuit.
SPEAKER_01See, that's the interesting part. I guess he kind of felt that uh something was gonna happen. I don't know. I mean, he had to do it before he went to prison. I don't I don't think you can, you know, do all this stuff in prison.
SPEAKER_03Can those be um are those being investigated and to determine if they're null and void and illegal?
SPEAKER_01Um I'm not sure. I I'm not sure if there's an investigation about that or not. There should be. Of course, you know, a lot of the property he transferred was transferred to uh Angel Cooper, his girlfriend. And um you know, she's in prison too in Charleston for for lying to investigators during this whole investigation. So um uh they've got uh uh a third family member, Brian, I can't think of his last name. Uh Brian Cooper, I think it is. Anyway, he's got uh some of the property in his name as well. Um so yeah, it's all tangled up. It's yeah, somehow they the the uh if you'll recall, uh last year the Sheriff's Department said they did a record search and could not find anything at all in Raymond Moody's name. Um recently uh this was found, his mobile home was found in his name. They've got a tit an actual you know photo of the title in the court documents and it's got his name on it. So um, yeah, she'll probably get that seventy five hundred dollar trailer. They'll she says they'll sell it and you know, and they'll get that. And that's probably about all she'll get out of the uh 700 million dollars. But you know, I think it was more of a principal thing than than a money thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01The principle of it. And um, so we'll see. But that's some of the big stuff happening. We've got a uh supposed to have a huge uh uh food, beer, and wine festival in Georgetown tomorrow, and they say it is gonna go on even if it's raining. But um, if we're gonna get the rain that we think we're gonna get, or what you know they're saying we're gonna get, I don't know. But it's supposed to happen starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow is Food, Beer and Wine Festival. It's the fifth annual uh event. And um, you know, hopefully, hopefully it'll see I mean we're in a bind here because we can't say we hope it doesn't rain. You can't say that because every farmer in Orion, Georgetown County will uh water. Yeah, so we can't say we'll we're just saying we hope it rains after five o'clock tomorrow. And then rains all day Sunday. We'll see. Hey, that's similar to what's happening. Did you ever I want to continue Wednesday night? I hope I can.
SPEAKER_03What is oh yeah, Wednesday night is our big uh seven-year edge party.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I hope I can. I hope so.
SPEAKER_03That would be awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you were gonna ask me something. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was just gonna ask you, you had a missing um gentleman, an elderly man in Merle's Inlet. Any news on uh that man, John Joseph Doherty?
SPEAKER_01I don't I don't have it pulled up. I think you would sound safe and sound, if I remember right. Okay. Um yeah, I don't have it on my I didn't have it as a thing to talk about, so I don't have it on my list.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was just curious. I had seen that earlier.
SPEAKER_01I think you have sound safe and sound if I remember right.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right, good.
SPEAKER_03All right, well, thank you so much, Scott Harper of gabnewsonline.com.
SPEAKER_01Keep having to fund it. Oh, and by the way, I I heard you telling this morning about your Twitter situation. Yeah, I'm having the same exact thing. I got liked out of our uh Facebook page, the Gab News Facebook page. Your Twitter. I'm having to I'm having to yeah, basically the hacker got my personal page. So now I can't connect to the Facebook page, so I'm having to post everything through Meta Business Suite. But once I do that, I can't delete anything, I can't, you know, update anything.
SPEAKER_03That's what's happening like with me with Twitter. It's like half canceled.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So they've got so people if people notice there's been less posted in the past week. That's the reason. I mean, I um I'm I've been fighting with uh Facebook for a solid week now. The same way, the same day my dog died, my Facebook got cracked.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it it was it was a cr great last Friday. Oh sorry. I'm just glad it's this body.
SPEAKER_03And you still didn't find your wallet.
SPEAKER_01Still filmed my wallet, still film my dog. Facebook's still hacked. Wow. Life goes on.
SPEAKER_03All right. Well, um have a I hope I hope you have a good weekend.
SPEAKER_01Cheer your next Friday.
SPEAKER_03I hope you have a good weekend. I hope you find your dog. All right. Have a have a great one.
